For those familiar with the internet series Red vs Blue, a comedy based on the XBox Game: Halo, or to those now enjoying the more recent series, RWBY, Monty Oum had become a household name. He began working for RoosterTeeth.com as their director, creating various visual effects for Red vs Blue that the original series creators hadn't conceived. And after pushing the envelope, his own personal project of RWBY had just begun, having two volumes/seasons of the show now available on DVD.

But he fell into a coma from an allergic reaction after undergoing what was supposed to be a simple medical procedure. And after ten days of fighting bravely, his body was unable to recover and died this Sunday. Monty is survived by his wife, Sheena, as well as four brothers and two sisters. A fund has been set up to help his family with the medical expenses.

RoosterTeeth.com has honored Mr. Oum with a post on their website. "As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way," Rooster Teeth said. "In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to."

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death." - Monty Oum

That is horrible... and who will make RWBY now?

I think most of Season Two was written by Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross (or Jaune if you prefer).... if the behind-the-scenes on the season two disc is to be trusted.

Well they will have to find a new voice for Lie Ren, apparently.

Would you believe I became a fan of his work, not from Red vs Blue, but from his Dead Fantasy Series?

Rest in Peace... Machinima lost a Master.

Saw this just now. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting it and it took me by surprise when I felt tears running down my face.
Something so serene about it, and yet so sad.
All his characters holding flowers over his body laying peacefully in his coffin.

Damn... I just found out about him and his work mere days before his death. I'm still shocked at this turn of events.
