For Playstation emulation, I had been using ePSXe for years. It was good, could upscale, and had fairly few bugs depending on the game.
However, I recently discovered an emulator called Retroarch, that worked like a charm. It took a while to get all of the necessary files, update every database, etc. However, when all was said and done, the emulator played Final Fantasy 8, a game known to have a TON of glitches and annoyances in ePSXe.
It played FF8 with ZERO emulator-caused glitches! Unfortunately, I encountered a problem that I needed to fix regarding being able to use the same save file for all 4 discs. However, once I worked through that with a clever solution I came up with, it all worked out.

Retroarch doesn't seem to work with iso files very well, especially without the cue file. Also, I'm not sure how the upscaling on it is. And it can't play Tales of Phantasia after being patched with an English patch, likely because it's trying to use the JP BIOS file and it's causing problems. It selects BIOS files automatically, soooo  Confused

Ultimately, I feel like Retroarch has been great. There are a lot of problems that one needs to work through with it, and it doesn't seem to want to play everything unless it's a specific file type. If you're tired of glitches with ePSXe, you can try Retroarch. Otherwise, it can be a bit of a hassle to set up, and might not be worth it depending on the situation.  Sweat

Just now, I was thinking, and just began searching, for a way to install the latest Windows Operating System without the built in apps or the Windows Store (as well as a way to remove the flat look without spending any money). So far... I'm failing to find ways. Oh well. I'll try again on my free time.

Also I had an interesting day today, if I can call it that.

I shrunk the image here down but.....

Looks like the beginning of an 'Archive' for Creation Asylum resources before it may collapse. This is taking me forever. But I'm working to save game materials at least.

it seems that whenever some people get to a certain point in their youtube career, usually around a certain subscriber number, they completely change their content or things they do to reach a wider audience, while alienating their old fans. They're not "Them" anymore. And quite often, the person will be completely uncaring towards their old fans, or current fans, and will even get in social media fights with fans over the changes. The new "Fans" will troll and spam the old fan into hiding, oftentimes saying "Kill yourself" or "Go watch something else then" in response, and the youtuber will do nothing to stop their fans from attacking the poor soul. In fact, they oftentimes fan the flames by talking about the person, and how everything they do should be accepted, or you're not a true fan.

It really bothers me, and I end up unsubscribing because of these traits that suddenly appear. Usually later on, they become something they never were before, and put out junk content just to stay afloat, and I suddenly don't feel so bad unsubscribing. Checking back a month or two later, their content is repetitive and uninspired. If you check their social media feeds, it's normally a lot of complaining, sometimes fights with old fans, etc.

It has spread like a virus lately, more and more, and I hope I never become like that.
That's what's on my mind right now.  Indifferent

This is a bit of a follow-up. And yep, this is still a one-man on dialup operation right now. But as of now, I have all but one script/demo post archived from Creation Asylum's RMXP - Custom Components subforum. All but one, because I have work tomorrow and I neglected to snag the attachments for this last one. ROFL!!!!!! Whoops?

Well, After this, I still have the Enhancements, New Functions and Code Snippets Subforums, and... the 8 pages of unsorted script.demo threads to sort through. That requires that I check for dead-link demos (skipping if there's no content to save), skip requests, and skip content with terms from known 'blocked' websites like the KGC scripts. Man, that sucks.... but we gotta honor those.

BUT.... Here's a bit of an announcement. Of the archived script/demo posts, one of them was SephirothSpawn's version of the Final Fantasy VIII game, TRIPLE TRIAD. True, all the links from his rm-dev site are dead. And while he has a post for the demo in HBGames, even the reposted demo given to him has since died. So yeah, the links in his Creation Asylum post are all extinct, except reference posts for music and card deck graphics.

But it just so happens...... I DOWNLOADED THE SUCKER YEARS AGO AND IT IS AN ATTACHMENT! Yeppers, that's right! When the Archive Board goes active, members of Save-Point will be in a unique position to have access to the only copy of Triple Triad in the Gaming Community!

HOWUUUU!!!!!! Laughing

I am constantly getting scam calls, and with AT&T's home phone rules, you have to PAY to block numbers.
So every time I get scam calls, I play a song for them.
Sometimes it's a goofy Stevie T song, others it's a random death metal song.
Today's is this:

But honestly, I wish I didn't have to keep doing this.
Why does AT&T make you pay to block numbers?
And how do I keep getting put on these call lists?  Confused

I can field these calls, sure, but I have actual calls with actual important things going on for my mother, and when I get a call saying they're ______, and they wanna talk to my mom, I immediately look up their usually-bogus company name.
I've gotten fake pharmacies calling, fake car loan dealers, fake diabetic supply dealers, fake doctors (Seriously), and it's honestly getting ridiculous at the rate I get calls.
There's even a number that has tried like 10 different scams with the same phone number-- that of a defunct furniture store.

Does anybody know what I can do about this? I can't pay to block the calls, so is there somewhere to report this stuff, or do I just keep fielding the calls with random metal and death metal? I can totally do that...  Laughing + Tongue sticking out

Federal Trade Communication Complaint Website:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Unfortunately, it won't help you to block numbers if the scammer is phishing a non-existent business's phone number. Obviously, it's not the real source phone and they're sending a fake your way. Now if they say "We need to update your windows, Please call back at *** *** **** .... you at least have a chance.

My turn to use the FTC complaint website. I just found a *cough* message from the IRS on my answering machine, threatening to arrest me over taxes.

The IRS does 'not' make arrests over taxes, nor ever make phone calls.
