More interactivity in the Child Akiko section of the game!
While I was expanding, and secretly adding that FP (Friend Point) system into the game, I decided on adding a bit more interactivity. This one was kind of inspired by Grandia.... at least the PS1 demo of Grandia. But I put my own spin on it.
At certain points, mostly at food times in this section of the game, You can talk to Emil, Dr. Uzuki, or no one at all. You can only do this once per eating time.
Oh. And before I forget.
This WIP cutscene is long since finished, and some things have changed. But one thing stayed the same. Emil wants to be a Hero of Justice. Though I don't think she'll be going full Shiro Emiya from Fate/Stay Night.
Alright. That's pretty much it. I took a bit of a break to prevent burnout (I played a lot of Phantasy Star Online via, a private server or two). But I did put a bit of time into this night by night. And at times during some time in the day, given I don't clumsily hurt myself on accident.

They're entirely optional, hence one of the options is to talk to none of them. The story will progress whether or not you talk to someone. The story doesn't change at all. For now anyway.

Even Main Characters have dreams
So Akiko's dreams are going to be a bit crazier rather than just a simple glimpse of the future. Since dreams differ from actual reality, I can actually do crazy stuff in them, like making 1,000 of the same NPC if I wanted to.
The image above is the first of many dream worlds Akiko will be in during her sleep. She won't dream all the time though. I'm gonna be eventing the heck out of these dream worlds. Though I'll start small, then go big. Not all of her dreams will be dream worlds. Some of them will be a small glimpse of Akiko's future.

So I thought up a new Ability that Akiko can learn, but you cannot use it at anytime you want.
The ability is generically called Second Wind. This ability would only activate once Akiko's HP drops to 0 for the first time in a battle. She would automatically revive herself with only 1/2 of her max HP, giving you time to not only recover her, but also recover any Party members that would also be in need.... unless they are still fine. It occurred to me, while playing games like Final Fantasy VII, including the demo of the upcoming Remake, and the Kingdom Hearts Series, at least those in the I.5 and II.5 HD collections on PS3.... But mostly Final Fantasy VII with me remembering that there's a way to revive the recently died member of the Party, generally the one who dies that has a certain combination of things equipped. So this is based on that idea, but only for one character.
I plan to have her learn this after a certain boss battle, that I'm not going to spoil as I am not at that point yet, and had just now thought up the Ability. Sadly, I don't know how this will work when all party members go down before Akiko, but when I get to that point, I'll let you know.
For now it's an Akiko only ability, meaning that Akiko will be the only one to learn this Ability, along with the ability, Vizija sova, which I shown off how to learn that ability, the one to see better in the dark, sometime earlier during my time developing the game.
A little tiny update... Kind of. During the story, a good amount of flashbacks will happen. This is because that:
- Players might choose to skip the two prologue sections of the game, these being sections of the story when Akiko was a child, and when Akiko was an apprentice to a nameless assassin, that took her under his wing to better Akiko's self defense.... and maybe a little bit more techniques Akiko might use later on.
- Each section will tell backstories of characters, this includes Akiko, Emil, Kado, and some more characters.
In the Prologue section(s) I'm expanding will also feature a few flashbacks. Some might be repeated later on in the story, but will be expanded once shown a second time.... unless you skipped both prologue sections of the game's story, and went on to the main story. If that's the case, you'll always get the extended flashback.
Here's a screenshot of the flashback I'm doing right now. This one features Akiko, about a year before she even was brought to the hospital. She had made a promise to a certain (adopted) younger sister. I won't spoil the details, but Akiko's mother is having Akiko lead the way. Uneasy about the decision, Akiko, at this point, will walk to the Hunter Base, which is the Central Base of the time the flashback takes place. The flashback happens after Akiko's first dream, while in the hospital. This will reoccur for those who will be skipping the prologue sections, but will be expanded upon once it happens again.
The dialogue might change, as this is a WIP. But I thought I'd show you a bit of progress made.

I think it's a bit weird to "corner" both of them like you did on that screenshot, especially when the place the event is taking place is an unknown street in an unknown town. Just saying.
"For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ," 1 Thessalonians 5:9
Maranatha!
The Internet might be either your friend or enemy. It just depends on whether or not she has a bad hair day.

You might be right, I should have them more left. I'll get that changed up quick.
However, I am thinking of changing the layout of the map(s) for the more modern look. Heck, Maybe I might make the place the flashback take place a map of the whole city! That'd be something new I never ever tried. Gonna need to find a better modern Tileset though.

Transitioning to a different modern Tileset!? The Modern times influence
So... I found this tileset some time ago, but I have only seen the tileset in action with a demo, which showcases different areas of a more modern city. However, it does not have an indoor version, so far as I know. So I'm going to remove the older modern tileset I keep using, and start using the Super Modern Outdoor Tileset by Supercow, that I found on RPG Maker Web's forums from searching the web with DuckDuckGo.com. As soon as I make the map(s), This'll be the tileset I'll be using.... for the outsides. Inside certain buildings I'll still be using the maps I made using the RTP resources, but I might go ahead and look for more modern day objects, like Computers, Televisions, etc. This'll take a bit since I am going to remake some maps....... as soon as I figure out which square tile(s) are for roads and which square tile(s) are for sidewalks.
Memorie does use a modern day setting, but I'm also adding Fantasy and SciFi elements, such as magic, in general, and Emil's little gadget she uses when she's older (right now I'm still trying to get through the Child Segment) as examples.
I thought I'd bring up an update, and a bit of a definite thought.
First, I have a new screenshot showing the flashback that I had a screenshot of earlier, but with the new map. However, it appears that during this time....
The mayor of Suri, at the time, decided to spend his term to expand and rebuild Suri, one piece at a time. This is my reason of having a different map than what's shown in the flashbacks. Kind of makes it an evolution kind of sort.
By the time Akiko goes to Suri, it'll look quite different. Also I'm aware of the little White rectangle on the road wasn't what I had planned out like that. Hehe.... I think I won't put white strips to indicate the left/right sides of roads.
I should probably ask for someone else to do city maps, especially modern day ones. Making Town/City maps is not my forte apparently.
