Well, even if Newsweek calls her claims baseless for political reasons, we need to agree on how low the Chinese government has fallen by arresting her mother. Is the scientist's mother responsible for her daughter's declarations?

I just wish to follow this up with a separate article published by WION (World Is One News) which was labeled as a Least-Biased news source according to (>Media Bias Fact Check<)

On February 3, 2020, “batwoman” Dr. Zheng-Li Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology published an article suggesting that COVID-19 originated in bats and a bat coronavirus named RaTG13 was shown ....
....despite the fact that RaTG13 exists only on paper because no live virus or intact genome of RaTG13 have ever been isolated or recovered.

Dr. Yan and her colleagues now make multiple arguments indicating that RaTG13 is a fabricated virus.

So the whole Chinese BAT virus was based on evidence that has never been  "isolated or recovered", and Newsweek says Dr Yan was publishing material without evidence?

Dr Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D is also Colonel Lawrence Sellin, a retired Army Reservist, who previously worked at the  U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.  So he is well versed in virology, unlike Newsweek.
