And yeah, I've read plenty of really distressing comments in the Discords I frequent about RPG Maker MZ being nothing short of a half-baked disaster.(10-14-2020, 12:43 AM)SteelĀ BeastĀ 6Beets Wrote:(10-06-2020, 11:58 PM)Melana Wrote: Well you have layers again. 4 in total. That's really nice. But the RTP looks horrible so I guess you would have to import your own graphics first.
And beside that the Maker is really buggy and slow. I lost 3 times around 200 lines of dialogue due to crashes while doing message commands.
I see.
One step forward and two steps behind. The classic Enterbrain experience.
eb! shoved RPGmaker off to Kadokowa with RPG Maker MV and has been uninvolved in its development since, but I agree... MZ is an absolute wreck.
I just got it for the backgrounds, since they don't actually look terrible. I'm very happy with MV (although I am running it on 1.5.1 because 1.6.x broke the play movie feature and it has yet to be fixed.) The fault is largely on Degica for releasing the MZ engine well before it was ready. They basically sold you a beta that they claim they'll patch up in the future.
I'm not hopeful, Degica has lost any sense of duty it basically never had, only now they are just being blatant about it.
I made this video which goes into the attitudes of the rpgmaker team and the poor communication Degica maintains with it, providing examples galore.
Right! So this appears to be a 'what are you working on thread', one of my favorite kinds! Currently I am working on a different game, Junked. I want to have a Demo ready by 3/14 which is a special date for me for reasons I'll go into as it approaches closer.
I did one of the major things, which was a cinematic intro to hook people in. The other things are a crafting system and art for the antagonist which recently i finished concepting so i just have to make portraits now, and Harold, an NPC in the starting area.
So I have decided that I will share that intro cinematic.
I'll post more as progress is made!
Also, that cinematic looks slick as as hell.
