Like, imagine a RM where you had to buy parts of the RTP separately.
I'm surprised more people didn't see this coming. This video I did on the topic years ago stands truer than ever now. They really just went ahead and doubled, tripled and quadrupled down to prove my point.
I've no doubt a lot of you were skeptical of Unite who had some experience with it already. But even I was surprised at the sheer level of greed bundled with that installment.
This has been quite a fun year for me. The old guard of rpgmaker, the big names like Touchfuzzy, Celianna and so on. They're basically unemployed now, as Gotcha Gotcha Games has taken over on licensing, leaving the greedy dipshits who accommodated for this behavior betrayed and besmurched. How perfectly fitting a crime for their conniving.
I have everything I want, MV is basically the engine I'll stick to for RPGs, and I have another for my more ballistic future projects. Perhaps it is my complacency that lets me enjoy the fall of this obnoxious farm house, but it's not like me and their accord with Degica and later Kadokowa was ever something I approved of. Though Kadokawa was a lot less terrible and accommodated for some of the best RTP and bonuses we've had since XP. more than i can say for the clown car fiasco that Gotcha Gotcha Games has been.
I'll still credit Celianna when I use her tiles in my games, because I'm not foolish enough to prove a point they never had but clung to for ten years anyway to keep me out of a community I never was very interested in from the get go.
Here's to an end of this RM political bullshit. Though it probably will never end because these fucks love to gossip.
But if this spells the end of rpgmaker engines, good riddance?? They've held the monopoly for long enough as is. This just means we have an opportunity to steal the show with Regal, am I right Kain and all the ladies and gents working on that?
This presents us with a golden opportunity to do right by the rpgmaker community that has been done wrong by for so many years.
I may have called this whole Unite thing being a flop, and just a further snowballing of the worst behaviours of the people behind it, but honestly, anyone who didn't see this coming and paid for that load of garbage, I am deeply sorry you were so easy to con. I hope they give you a full refund, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Now Bakin, Regal, WolfRPG and so on can have a chance to rise from the ashes. I'm looking forward to what comes of this paradigm shift.
