Ronny Reyes - NY Post Wrote:Israel launched a massive retaliatory attack against the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Sunday, the latest escalation that threatens all-out war between the Jewish state and Iran’s terror proxies.
The IDF deployed dozens of fighter jets to conduct the attack against the Houthis’ sea ports and power plants after the terror group fired a ballistic missile at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plane.
“Over the past year, the Houthis have been operating under the direction and funding of Iran, and in cooperation with Iraqi militias in order to attack the State of Israel, undermine regional stability, and disrupt global freedom of navigation,” the IDF said in a statement.
Sunday’s strikes targeted the Iran-backed terror group’s facilities along the ports of Ras Issa and Hodeidah, with several power plants going up in blazes.
“The IDF attacked power plants and a port, which are used to import oil,” the Israeli military said. “Through the targeted infrastructure and ports, the Houthi regime transfers Iranian weapons to the region, and supplies for military purposes, including oil.”
The attack landed a significant blow on the Yemen-based terror group after they launched a ballistic missile on Saturday targeting Netanyahu’s plane at the Ben Gurion International Airport, near Tel Aviv.
The missile, along with another rocket fired on Friday, was intercepted before it reached its intended target.
The Houthis’ attempted to kill Netanyahu with the missile as a direct response to the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by an Israeli airstrike on Friday.
Since then, Hezbollah has fired dozens of missiles daily at northern Israel, with the IDF responding with its own wave of intense attacks as it struck about 120 sites in southern Lebanon on Sunday.
As tensions continue to boil between Israel and Iran’s terror proxies, the US has upped its military presence in the Middle East ahead of a possible war breaking out across the region.
Elsewhere in the region, the US Central Command revealed Sunday that it had recently carried out two successful airstrikes in Syria that killed 37 terrorists, including multiple senior leaders of ISIS and Hurras al-Din, an affiliate of al Qaeda.
The strike against Hurras al-Din, which took place last Tuesday, killed eight operatives and senior official Marwan Bassam, the man overseeing the terror group’s operation in Syria.
The other attack hit a remote ISIS training camp in central Syria, killing 24 terrorists and four senior officials, with no civilian casualties in either strike, the military stated.
“These strikes against leadership and operatives of ISIS and the al Qaeda affiliate, Hurras al-Din, represent CENTCOM’s commitment to the enduring defeat of terrorist organizations in the CENTCOM area of responsibility and our support to regional stability,” CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla said in a statement.
During the attack that killed Bassam, CENTCOM said it also launched an interceptor missile that took out a Houthi drone targeting a ship in the Red Sea, officials said.
The Houthis began attacking Israel in November in solidarity with Hamas, with the terror group plaguing the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden by constantly firing at military and merchant ships allegedly tied to the Jewish state.
Hrm... Israel not only wrecked the STUFFING out of Hamas, Hezbollah... but now the Houthis in this short amount of time? What did anyone else do to deal with the attacks in the Red Sea and the violence from all these Iran funded proxies?
