Homeland Security Rescues Biden Era Unaccompanied Migrant Teen Sisters from Sex Traffickers

Homeland Security agents in California rescued two teenage migrant sisters from the clutches of alleged sex traffickers after they came across the border as unaccompanied minors.

It’s the latest effort by the Trump administration to track down more than 320,000 migrant children who went missing under President Joe Biden’s watch — kids whom whistleblowers have warned are vulnerable to exploitation.

Special agents with Homeland Security Investigations saved the girls, ages 16 and 18, Saturday from captivity at a hotel in West Covina, California, where Christopher Ramirez was allegedly “pimping” the young sisters out, sources told The Post.

Cops with the West Covina Police Department initially found the girls and arrested Ramirez on local charges.

The feds are still looking for co-conspirators who helped move the migrant girls, who are from Honduras, from Texas to California and forced them into prostitution, sources said.

The youngest victim was placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which places unaccompanied migrant kids with sponsors in the US, while the older teen was released after declining “services or placement.”

The feds are also working to hit Ramirez with their own charges.

The Trump administration has already reunited roughly 5,000 unaccompanied migrant children with family members or “safe guardians” in its first 70 days, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Trici McLaughlin said in a previous X post.

“Unlike the previous administration, President Trump and Secretary [Kristi] Noem take the responsibility to protect children seriously and will continue to work with federal law enforcement to reunite children with their families,” said McLaughlin.

Some of the thousands of missing migrant children have been found to be working in exploitative conditions in slaughterhouses and factories because of the lax vetting policies the Biden administration adopted to screen their adult sponsors.

The Trump administration recently found that approved migrant sponsors were providing fake or doctored photos in their applications to HHS.

Tara Rodas, who became a whistleblower on the issue after she was recruited as a federal government employee to help HHS with an influx of migrant kids in 2021, told The Post that “targeting criminal sponsors is a simple yet powerful tool” the Trump administration can use to “save the children.”

“By targeting fraudulent sponsors, the Trump administration is sending a powerful message to predators who commit crimes against children,” she said.

Of the 320,000 missing migrant kids, 291,000 were released into the US and never given a date to appear in immigration court — meaning there is no way to track their whereabouts, according to the 14-page report — which tracked a period from October 2018 to September 2023.

Another 32,000 children were released with hearing dates but then failed to show up to their immigration hearings.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed during a Cabinet meeting that the Biden administration's State Department kept dossiers on Americans accused of serving as "vectors of disinformation," including a file on an unidentified Trump administration official.

"We had an office in the Department of State whose job it was to censor Americans," Rubio said during Wednesday's Cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump. "And, by the way, I'm not going to say who it is. I'll leave it up to them. There's at least one person at this table today who had a dossier in that building of social media posts to identify them as purveyors of disinformation. We have these dossiers. We are going to be turning those over to these individuals."

Vice President JD Vance interjected, asking, "Was it me or Elon [Musk]? We can follow up when the media is gone," and drawing laughter from the Cabinet.

"But just think about that. The Department of State of the United States had set up an office to monitor the social media posts and commentary of American citizens, to identify them as vectors of disinformation," Rubio continued. "When we know that the best way to combat disinformation is freedom of speech and transparency.

"We're not going to have an office that does that."

Rubio appeared to be referring to an office within the State Department previously known as the Global Engagement Center, which he officially shuttered earlier this month.

When announcing a massive reorganization of the State Department, the Global Engagement Center engaged with media outlets and platforms to censor speech it disagreed with, Rubio said. The center has been accused by conservatives of censoring them.

Journalist Matt Taibbi, for example, previously reported that the center "funded a secret list of subcontractors and helped pioneer an insidious — and idiotic — new form of blacklisting" during the pandemic, Fox News Digital reported in 2024.

He added that the Global Engagement Center "flagged accounts as ‘Russian personas and proxies’ based on criteria like, ‘Describing the Coronavirus as an engineered bioweapon,’ blaming ‘research conducted at the Wuhan institute,’ and ‘attributing the appearance of the virus to the CIA.’"

Though Rubio did not identify which Trump official the Biden administration kept a dossier on, Elon Musk has previously railed against the Global Engagement Center.

Italy Warns Europe Against counter-tariffs on the U.S., calls for budget leeway

Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti warned on Saturday against the imposition of retaliatory tariffs on the United States in response to President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping import duties on trade partners.

Speaking at a business forum near Milan, Giorgetti said Italy was aiming for a “de-escalation” with the US.

Under Trump’s plans announced on Wednesday Italy, which has a large trade surplus with the United States, will be subject to a general tariff of 20% along with other European Union countries.

“We should avoid launching a policy of counter-tariffs that could be damaging for everyone and especially for us,” Giorgetti said, adding “we must try to keep a cool head.”

To offset the negative economic impact the tariffs were likely to have, Giorgetti said the European Union should allow member states to raise spending without breaching the bloc’s fiscal rules.

High-debt Italy frequently calls on the EU to allow more budget leeway.

Under EU governance, commitments agreed with the European Commission to cut public spending can be put on hold in the event of a “severe economic downturn” in the eurozone.

The Bank of Italy said on Friday the euro zone’s third-largest economy would grow by just 0.5% this year, less than half the government’s 1.2% forecast made in September.

“In recent days there has been talk of aid for companies, but aid for companies is a state intervention that must be allowed under EU rules,” Giorgetti said.

Italy has committed to bringing its deficit below the EU’s 3% of gross domestic product ceiling in 2026 from 3.4% in 2024, a task made harder by its faltering economic growth.

The government is expected to cut its growth forecast for this year and 2026 next week, when it presents multi-year economic projections.

“The Italian public debt means reduced budget room for our country, a constraint that must be taken into account in any decisions we make,” Giorgetti said.

Italy’s debt, proportionally the second highest in the euro zone, is currently seen rising to almost 138% of GDP in 2026 from 135.3% last year.

Russia blasts Trump over mineral deal, says Ukraine will soon ‘disappear’

The Kremlin on Thursday blasted President Trump’s historic mineral rights deal with Ukraine inked a day earlier, sarcastically praising the US leader for making a deal with a nation that will soon “disappear.”

“Trump has finally pressured the Kyiv regime to pay for US aid with mineral resources,” Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Telegram.

“Now, the country that is about to disappear will have to use its national wealth to pay for military supplies.”

Unlike military aid packages under the Biden administration, Ukraine would pay the United States for these weapons — benefiting both Kyiv’s defense and the US defense industry without the use of American taxpayer dollars.

“President Trump’s US-Ukraine Minerals Deal is a masterstroke,” Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) said in a post on X. “Ukraine is now a permanent partner to the United States and both sides will benefit greatly.

“The next step is strong secondary sanctions on Russia.”

The deal holds that Washington and Kyiv will split all profits from licenses for new oil, gas and minerals mining in Ukraine in a mutual fund.

While Kyiv will contribute to the fund largely through mineral profits, the US has the option to contribute to the fund by letting Ukraine purchase weapons.

Still, there are no requirements that the US must allow Ukraine to purchase weapons as part of the arrangement.

Medvedev — considered Russian President Vladimir Putin’s right-hand man — has previously criticized Trump, taking aim at the president on April 3 as his tariff plans rolled out — even though none of the tariffs targeted Russia.

“Trump has severely bent the global trading system, introducing tariffs against almost the entire world. The consequences will be global.” he posted to Telegram at the time.

“Counter tariffs will be imposed on US goods. Old trade chains will be broken, but new ones will emerge.”
