Trump details framework of landmark US-UK trade deal: ‘Opening up the country’

President Trump announced Thursday that the US and UK had agreed on the framework of a trade deal – the first established since Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariff announcement last month.

Trump, 78, told reporters in the Oval Office that the UK will be “opening up the country” to American goods, especially agricultural products like beef.

Notably, the current tariff rate of 10% will remain in place, but Washington will give London some breathing room on products like cars and plane parts — as well as inviting the ally into an “economic security agreement” with the US.

“The UK was largely closed, very much closed to trade, and now it’s opened,” the president proclaimed after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined the announcement from across the Atlantic via speakerphone.

The final details of the deal are still being written up, the president said, before claiming the 10% baseline tariff on British goods was “probably the lowest” rate possible for future bilateral deals — though that rate is roughly triple the average US levy prior to the 47th president taking office.

The deal will exempt 100,000 UK-made cars from Trump’s new 25% global auto tariff, making them subject to the 10% rate instead.

The UK, meanwhile, is dropping its ethanol fuel tariff from 19% to zero, allowing market access to the corn-based fuel worth up to $700 million — while the US eliminates tariffs on British-made airplane parts, including Rolls-Royce engines.

London is also applying 25% tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum — the same rate Trump dictated in February — with a White House fact sheet describing that arrangement as “a new trading union for steel and aluminum.”

“The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports, especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef, ethanol and virtually all of the products produced by our great farmers,” Trump said.

“The UK will reduce or eliminate numerous non-tariff barriers that unfairly discriminate against American products … They’ll also be fast-tracking American goods through their customs process, so our exports go to a very, very quick form of approval, and there won’t be any red tape,” he went on.

Because the deal has not been finalized, it was not immediately clear how the UK would alter rules around imported American beef grown with hormone enhancement, or a prohibition on the American standard of the washing of chicken with chlorine.

Trump says US ‘will stop’ bombing Yemen’s Houthis, claims ‘they don’t want to fight anymore’

President Trump revealed Tuesday that Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have “capitulated,” agreeing to stop attacking American vessels in the Red Sea and that his administration will cease strikes on them in response.

“We had some very good news last night, the Houthis have announced … to us that they don’t want to fight anymore,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office while meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

“They just don’t want to fight. And we will honor that, and we will stop the bombings, and they have capitulated, but more importantly, we will take their word [when] they say they will not be blowing up ships anymore.”

There was no immediate confirmation of the comments by Trump, who called the development “very positive” and added that “we just found out about that.”It is also not entirely clear whether the Houthis’ purported halt on vessel strikes is limited to American ships specifically.

The cease-fire deal calls only on the US and Houthis to avoid targeting each other in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, according to mediators in Oman.

The deal was secured in recent days by White House special envoy Steve Witkoff, Axios reported.

It makes no mention of the rebel attacks on Israel, which was hit by a Houthi ballistic missile on Sunday that left six people injured and suspended flights at the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

Israeli officials claim the Jewish state was not given any advance notice by the Trump administration, leaving Jerusalem completely blindsided, according to several Hebrew media outlets.

The Red Sea is a major trade and oil transit route that benefits US allies in Europe and Asia, and hundreds of vessels pass through it each day.

US, China strike deal after extensive talks in Switzerland as Trump official touts ‘resolving’ ongoing trade war

The US and China have agreed on a deal to help resolve the trade war raging between the world’s two largest economies, top Trump administration officials announced Sunday.

Details of the deal — struck during negotiations in Switzerland over the weekend — were not revealed, but officials teased that more information will be shared on Monday.

“The U.S. has a massive $1.2 trillion trade deficit, so the President declared a national emergency,” US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Sunday. “We’re confident that the deal we struck with our Chinese partners will help us work toward resolving that national emergency.”

President Trump has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on goods from China, with China slapping retaliatory tariffs on American exports.

Greer joined Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng for the talks in Geneva, Switzerland, over the weekend to address the triple-digit tariff.

“I can tell you that the talks were productive,” Bessent teased.

The announcement comes after the Trump administration unveiled a framework for a trade deal with the United Kingdom last week.

China is America’s third-largest trading partner and has long drawn ire from Trump over its practices, including exporting deadly fentanyl, currency manipulation, intellectual property theft, forced technology transfers and more.

Some estimates have pegged annual Chinese IP theft from the US at $225 to $600 billion annually.

Last year, the US had a $295.4 billion trade deficit with China, a major pet peeve of Trump’s.

Trump says India, Pakistan agree to ‘full and immediate’ cease-fire after ‘long night of talks’ mediated by US

India and Pakistan agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire Saturday after weeks of deadly violence in the Kashmir region, officials said — but the truce appeared to be short-lived.

Within hours, Indian officials accused Pakistan of violating the agreement and said they would retaliate.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told local media there were “repeated violations” of the agreement by Pakistan — and that India would be have an “appropriate response.”

“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was set to address the nation, according to a report.

The deal, announced by President Trump early Saturday, had included an agreement to “stop all fighting,” including military action on land, air and sea, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said at a news conference.

The ceasefire would have an “immediate effect,” Pakistan’s deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar wrote on X when the deal was announced, but hours later, Indian officials sounded the alarm.

“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullad, wrote on X hours before.

“This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he added with a video showing drones and explosions across the sky in the disputed territory.

Trump had revealed the agreement in a Truth Social post.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump wrote.

“Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Tensions between the two countries had escalated in recent days, sending missiles and drones into areas not hit in decades. The violence began on April 22 after a Pakistan-based militant group descended on a tourist-heavy area, asking people their religion and then opening fire, killing 25 tourists and one local Muslim and injuring 20 others.

Trump’s announcement comes after Vance said Thursday that the US does not want to get involved in the conflict.“What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of a war that’s fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it,” Vance had said on Fox News.

Video shows lefty NJ reps ‘storm’ Newark ICE facility housing MS-13 members in ‘bizarre political stunt’

Two Dem reps from New Jersey were caught on video “storming” a Newark immigration detention site last week, with one seen elbowing her way past ICE agents in an alleged “bizarre political stunt.”

North Jersey Reps. Robert Menendez, Jr. and LaMonica McIver were among the protesters who turned up demanding the closure of the Delaney Hall Detention Center, which houses criminal illegal migrants with alleged MS-13 gang affiliation and wanted for crimes ranging from rape to murder.

Video provided to Fox News by the Department of Homeland Security shows Menendez and McIver in an angry confrontation with ICE agents at a security checkpoint.

McIver is seen shouting in the agents’ faces and attempting to elbow her way past them to get through the facility gates.

Democratic Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman of Central Jersey also was among the protesters.

“Members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote in a statement shortly after the incident.

“Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation.”

McLaughlin told The Hill after the scuffle that arresting the three reps was “definitely on the table.”

“We actually have body camera footage of some of these members of Congress assaulting our ICE enforcement officers, including body-slamming a female ICE officer, so we will be showing that to viewers very shortly,” McLaughlin said.

“He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody,” Habba posted, adding “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”

The video footage clearly begins on with the politicians and agents on the inside of the prison's chain-link fence and shows the arrested politicians taken outside the barricade they stormed. Reports already came out they rushed the fence when it was opened to let a vehicle bringing a prisoner inside. Any claims they were not violating a prison's security and trespassing are visibly blown by just this one bodycam alone.
