The new HBGames Archive Board

I am now past the halfway point with the number of tutorials that needed archiving. That is to say, I have gone through the oldest of all the tutorials that were present with the HBGames Archive, encountering dead links and lost resources along the way.

SO many demos that had megaupload, fileden and sendspace, sendspace being the worst as it was where I encountered the dreaded PC-locking Randomware. And for resources, there were many a post that used Imageshack and Tinypic that are gone. In some cases, I have been able to re-acquire Tinypic images thanks to the Internet Archive, but Imageshack is a lost cause due to how its service was set.

The hardest hit have been spriting tutorials, however there have been a couple of interesting art tutorials made by one of the original Half Kaiser Construction Project members, nphyx. However, other tutorials by members of the team referred to graphics that was hosted by Venetia and Tana. While the Internet Archive may gain access to their sites, the actual resources used within their tutorials are sadly non existent.

As I said, I worked to grab the eldest tutorials first. And on a comically sad note, it appears that half the tutorials that HBGames had within its vaults were all from 2006-2007. From that stance, it appears the desire to educate or advise other members of the community waned from that point on.
