Another sprite sheet. This one isn't anything exciting, just an animated pointer to show where you are on the world map. I figured it might be useful to someone, so I'm sharing it here!

As a kid, I thought game designers lived glamorous lives.
Many decades later and I'm uploading this spritesheet of a cockroach on Save-Point. ![]() I was designing a rundown building, and thought it would be interesting to add roaches to it. Even cooler if you could step on them (they'd either get squished with animation, or fly off. Then the remains would just be on the floor.) That would certainly add more immersion to the place. For the flying off animation, turn on "Always On Top On" so it flies past your face like cockroaches IRL. ![]()

Here's something that might be of use to you while building and editing your games! They stand out so they're easy to spot.
These aren't really for use in-game, but I have been using these "pins" as a nice on-map reminder of things and delete them once I'm finished with the map. Door that doesn't lead to anywhere yet? Put a pin on it and add comments for your future self to read! (i.e. "Door leading to inner sanctum." or "Put script here that checks if X item is in inventory, if yes, do Y, if not, do Z and display "____" text.) I also use them as test switches (need to access something that is locked behind another quest? Use a pin to turn that other quest's completion switches on.) Reminder: you can change the color of the pinhead through the hue slider. I also included labeled pins to make it easier for you to see what they contain at a glance, though these require an extra click to turn Direction Fix on, which is why I made the first set of pins for easier usage. I hope you find them useful!

I'm back with some minor bits.
First off, is an updated pin set. I intentionally left one pin blank to match the other set without labels, but while playtesting, I realized I needed a pin for giving items to the player, so this new sheet now has a pin specifically labeled ITEM. Second, is a haunted painting with eyes that follow the player (and a default sprite for when the painting is back to normal.) Just set it to Custom Move Route: Turn Towards Player (make sure to turn off all animation). I also set mine to Action Button and the painting displays the text " \c[2]We're watching you! " ![]() I obviously can't claim credit for the painting (it is the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer, one of my favorite artists and my favorite art piece). While I did plenty of touch-up to make it look good as a sprite, I did still just scale it down beforehand, so I just listed it as "assembled by." If you want to make your very own Vermeer, there's a wonderfully informative documentary from 2013 called Tim's Vermeer. Give it a watch, it's great. ![]() I hope you manage to find a place for this wonderful painting to add some fine art to your haunted locations! |
