RMRK is closing

I said I typically don't do anything but work on the Gazette last night.... didn't I?

Well, I just finishe adding the last available Project that still had a viable complete game to download within the RMRK archive. Projects are ... DONE!

Dear gawd..... All of the RPGMaker XP scripts in RMRK's XP subforum have been gone through, and any that had viable scripts that did not previously exist in our forum have been recreated.

Now you may ask why I stated "did not previously exist"? Well, there were a good number of scripts that were previously posted in numerous other sites, sites such as HBGames, RPGMaker Central, Creation Aslyum, and our own forum. And oft times, we had newer content than what RMRK contained.

So what is next, is the RPGMaker VX scripts. And despite that few individuals use it, the VX board is the largest scripts subforum within RMRK.

Ugh... that's gonna be a long time recreating...

A current headsup...

Hand still going woobly woobly from the weather, but still working on it. Kept my dang brace.

Currently, 1/3rd of the VX scripts have been re-created OR found to already exist in the forum under other archives (Creation Asylum or HBGames). Because of that, those threads were not re-re-recrated once more. However, some of the so-named boards had their versions 'repaired' where screenshots were not previously able to be saved. So while one might think "Why did you copy those threads if we had them already?" .. REPAIR SERVICE, BAY-BEE!

 I love that archiving overlaps with digital forensics work. Hard to beat the feeling of wading through another source and then finding that one missing element of a formerly-broken script or project and making it more complete.

Its a lengthier task working with the RPGMaker VX scripts from RMRK. There are more cases within where one script says "This requires a script named---*", so I have to play leapfrog through my archives finding the other script or scripts and remove them from my queue.

Could be worse. There could be two to four scripts that are recursive and all refer to each other.

Oh, yeah..... there are.

At least I have to be over halfway through them now.

Omg omg omg....

Did a major push and I figure I have less than 10% of the RMVX Scripts Database left for the RMRK archives. How much of a push? I began at 8:30am, and it is now 10:10pm.

A bit? I found out that there was a separate board in RMRK that stated... "Post your completed scripts here and they will be moved into the corresponding database." ... AND NO, NOT EVERY SCRIPT WAS MOVED!

Over 50 index pages, I scoured through them all (mostly requests) to find completed scripts that was NOT moved into the proper category forums. Yep, scoured through them all. ALL of them. ALL found.

And all now posted.

Stopping for now, I need to go through them all and add the "This is an archived thread" disclaimer on every one of them. Yawwwwn.

Every single RMRK thread now has the requisite disclaimer.

The next step is (obviously) gonna be worse... Editing each post to grant ownership to the original poster... or a guest account suggesting their name. And with that, fix the timestamp to match.

Though the archive is up, there is more work to be done.

All of the posts were made by me, and obviously I am not the person who created the works. As such, each thread needs to be edited to attribute each post to their original creators.

And that work has begun.

As of now, the entire RPGMaker MV board of the RMRK archive has all the content set to the original creators. And in the same manner, all the competed games in the Projects board the same. But along with that, each one has the proper timestamp/date applied.

It is a long process, but it is a process in the works.
