Hi, and welcome to January's Random Battle thread. Although the previous thread is still being voted on, it looks like Link is set to be the winner over Simon Belmont with a 10 to 2 vote count. However, hopefully this month's battle will be both closer to call, and a closer challenge for the competitors.

This month's battle: Mega Man vs. Kirby


Tale of the Tape
Mega Man, also known as Rock Man in Japan, is one of Capcom's biggest names. His claim to fame is his ability to substitute his Mega Buster for various other weapons, such as the Rolling Cutter, Ice Slasher and the Rebound Striker as well as many, many more. A robot himself, he defeated numerous Robot Masters over the span of 10 games.

Kirby hails from the Dreamland, and has protected it from numerous forces through the years. Kirby has a very similar ability to that of Mega Man, the ability to copy the abilities of his enemies, this time through inhaling them and swallowing them. He's been able to use a sword, create cyclones and fire, as well as throw bombs very similar to one of Mega Man's abilities.

Can the Blue Bomber defeat the Pink Puffball, or will Kirby eat Mega Buster for breakfast?

The rules of combat are simple, they both have the option of all their normal abilities. For the sake of Mega Man, say that he's somehow held on to all his previous weapons gained from battling and defeating the various Robot Masters he's battle in the past. For Kirby, assume he's surrounded by bystanders who can give him whatever ability he needs, and all he has to do is gulp them down. You won't have to wait for Capcom x Nintendo for this one, they're getting the battle on right now.

Also, I should have said this last month, but if you have an idea for a Random Battle, give me a PM. There's just two basic rules. The fighters must have something that is comparative between the two, Link and Simon's adaptability with items, for example, or Kirby and Mega Man's use of their enemy tactics. The other rule is that they should be fairly well known to the video game community, both old schoolers, hardcore gamers and casual gamers. So, you got an idea? Send it my way.

Kirby out matches Megaman by far. What Kirby lacks in endurance he gains in manoeuvrability... I mean, he can FLY.
All he has to do is turn into a block and he's practically invincible too.

oh and... He's cute. He'll get all the ladies ;)

My money is on Megaman. Even though Kirby could swallow Megaman and take his powers, Megaman is like 3 times faster and has ranged weapons to shoot Kirby in his cute little face

I'm gonna go ahead and vote based on favoritism. Megaman.

Dude, Kirby's belly is a controlled black hole. Anything that gets sucked in there goes into another dimension or something until Kirby decides to spit it back out. With how much Kirby can swallow and not even notice, I sincerely doubt Megaman - as epic as he is - is cutting, blasting, or otherwise fighting his way out of anything if Kirby opens his mouth unless Kirby wills it.

3 to 3 - I definitely chose a better battle this time.

While Kirby can fly & essentially has the literal engulfing stomach, don't forget that I did specify "all powers" for both of them - that does include a little something for Mega Man. He has his faithful dog companion Rush as a "power" in the games - so if (AND ONLY if) this counts as one of his "powers" it really gives him a major boost.

This gives him the "Rush Coil" allowing him to bound up in the air with a spring. Or the "Rush Jet" which lets him fly as well. Oh, let's not forget "Rush Marine" that allows Mega Man to go underwater. Haha, "Rush Space" anyone? Guess what that does yourself if you don't know. He can shoot still, in many of these various forms. Also the "Rush Suits" such as Power Mega Man where Rush gives Mega Man the ability to unleash powerful punches to break blocks, turning into a "Jet Adapter" that also gives Mega Man the ability to fly, again, and the "Super Adapter" that combines the ability of the last two. "Rush Question" gives Mega Man a random item, while "Rush Bike" - you know what, you get the idea I'm sure.

Kirby, effectively and honestly, probably won't be able to eat Mega Man. That is, Kirby doesn't really "eat" important figures, bosses and the sort - usually just the common enemies, and Smashers.

I think I gotta go with Mega Man.
