This written resource, despite somewhat informal, I found has saved myself a few times on designing characters and a few quest/mini stories that fit in within the bigger picture of my own RPG.
Not really recommended for those who want to be original, as it only provides media cookie-cutter examples.

There's plenty more, but it would be pointless me linking them all as the site is rather easy to navigate. Each of the 'terms' has examples to back them up, so you should more or less know what it's talking about. Once again, don't rely on this to make a masterpeice, as these are already pre-used unoriginal ideas. But if you're really stuck in the gutter, these can really help.
