I think I can considder myseld lucky then, that I have not seen this sort of development in any of the forums - even the large ones - that I am part of.

The world is full of jerks. I actually know several really talented artists who have shit personalities. I see the gain in artistic skill being proportionate to the loss of social skills. XD

As for communities getting cliquey and elitist I noticed that usually happens when a site's activity starts going down. As a site starts getting fewer and fewer people showing up on a daily basis those people, ironically enough, start getting more hostile towards newer people trying to join the site. It's one of life's mysteries.

It's called the In-Group/Out-Group Dynamic...

Well, in lighter news concerning myself, I think I may have finally made a decent social decision: abandon Tumblr. Even if most of the people I encountered there weren't also jerks, I was putting lot of effort in promoting my music there only to not get reblogs or likes from anyone other than myself, and mind you, I wasted a total of two years there. Since I've left that place, I'll hopefully have far more time on my hands, including for here.

Also, while not strictly related to games or soundtracks, this Friday I'll be spending an hour DJ'ing alongside other synthwave producers in Brooklyn. :) There's a Facebook page for the event, those who wish to learn more.

This is the greatest decision you can make in life. Tumblr, like 4chan, is the scumbuggery of the the internet where people don't realize the consequences of actions. Statistics show that suicide rates decrease among those who leave Tumblr and that self-esteem increases.

I have been fortunate enough to have never been on any social media site except Facebook.

I think moral vegans (except Hindus) are hypocrites. They annoy the fuck out of me as they get on their moral high horse and tell me I can't fight for animal rights and eat them. Illogical. Hypocrites. First of all, morality is relative. Secondly, what makes eating one kind of life (plants) morally superior to another (animals), you are eating life, get over it.
You think plants can't feel pain? Just because they don't have a brain organ doesn't mean they don't have a nervous system! Is it about sentience? What then is wrong with eating a squirrel or an insect, or even eggs? Those aren't very sentient and an egg certainly isn't, it's unfertilized.

There are also reasons that a balanced diet of meats and vegetables are arguably healthier than eating solely eating plants. Animal fats are very important for metabolism.

The moral hypocrisy of Vegans is comparable to that of the pro-lifers who are willing protect a fetus in a womb, but as soon as the child is born will not bother to rally for social welfare of the mother, will criticize her for using food stamps, etc.

I may be a pro-lifer whose solution for the debate is birth control pills over abortion, but I do fully agree over the veganism movement. Sadly, most Animal Rights activists are crazy enough to believe all animals are sentient despite they have no proof for it.

I personally fall under an animal welfare supporter, which is not the same thing. Animal welfare is about the humane use of animals, whereas Animal Rights is about ending all animal use, whether it be veganism or banning pet ownership.

Meeting a fellow RMer you befriended 8 years ago for the first time in real life sure feels weird. And surreal. Definitely surreal.

That's the kind of world we live in now. A lot of the time it's even more surreal because you end up in a foreign country. XD
