News of the World
The headline is what Trey Gowdy said of Speaker Nancy Pelosi who had now chosen to back a $9 Million relief package which is less than half what Steven Mnuchin offered her just weeks before. She refused taking it, and why? Because "we have a new president", in her own words.
Speaker Pelosi was criticized of course. So she pointed a finger at the reporter who criticized her and said:
Pelosi Wrote:I'm going to tell you something.  Don't characterize what we did before as a mistake, as a preface to your question, if you want an answer. That was not a mistake. It was a decision, and it has taken us to a place where we can do the right thing without other, shall we say, considerations in the legislation that we don't want.
Angry    So Pelosi believed that withholding relief to all the citizens was NOT a mistake, her own words. She played politics with lives.

...
But because of the lack of influence the Chinese had over the Trump administration, the professor suggested that these friendlies they have at the top of the American government went to work to get Biden elected.
Blame  Not only that, the professor called out Hunter and Joe Biden as being quite literally connected to Chinese finances.  Video footage of the Chinese professor is available for viewing.

Uber sheds self-driving cars to focus on profits
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-55224462
BBC Wrote:Uber is selling its driverless car subsidiary to start-up Aurora Technologies, shedding a unit that Uber's founder once hailed as critical to the future of the firm.
Aurora, founded in 2017, said the deal will help it "accelerate" its mission to make self-driving cars a reality.
Uber will invest $400m in the Amazon-backed company, giving it a 26% stake.
Its chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi will also serve on Aurora's board, following closure of the deal.
Despite the sale of its driverless car subsidiary known as Advanced Technologies Group, Uber said it remained interested in the sector, with plans to collaborate with Aurora when it comes to launching driverless cars on its network.

So Uber still cares about self driving cars but not too much!? Confused

Japan to fund AI matchmaking to boost birth rate
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-55226098
BBC Wrote:Japan plans to boost its tumbling birth rate by funding artificial intelligence matchmaking schemes to help residents find love.
From next year it will subsidise local governments already running or starting projects that use AI to pair people up.
Last year the number of babies born in Japan fell below 865,000 - a record low.
Next year the government plans to allocate local authorities 2bn yen ($19m, £14m) to boost the birth rate, reported AFP news agency.
Japan's population is projected to fall from a peak of 128 million in 2017 to less than 53 million by the end of the century.

So if you think you're a failure and still wanna marry somebody, you need a computer to make the decision on your behalf!? Happy with a sweat It definitely sounds as if they were after the actual opposite of love indeed. Laughing Welcome to the Matrix!? Confused

https://www.bbc.com/news/55231200
BBC Wrote:France's anti-terror prosecutors have called for defendants on trial for a series of militant Islamist attacks in Paris to be given long jail terms.
The January 2015 attacks on Charlie Hebdo magazine, a policewoman and a Jewish supermarket left 17 people dead.
Fourteen people are appearing in court and three are being tried in absentia.
One of those being tried in absentia is Hayat Boumeddiene, the fugitive partner of Amedy Coulibaly who was killed after attacking the supermarket.
Two brothers are also being sought.
Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence for Ali Riza Polat, the main defendant, who is in court.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman denies sending hit squad to Canada
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-55232926

The prince obviously denied he was involved in such an assassination attempt.
Normally foreign leaders are immune from prosecution but there might be an exception out there...

BBC Wrote:However Mr Jabri is suing the crown prince under of the Alien Tort statute and the 1991 Torture Victim Protection Act, which allow foreign nationals to file complaints in the US over alleged human rights abuses.

The article also reveals Mr. Jabri was an important liaison for MI6 and other Western spy agencies.

BBC Wrote:The US Army has fired or suspended 14 commanders and lower-level leaders at the Fort Hood base in Texas over a pattern of violence there, including murder, sexual assaults and harassment.
An investigation into problems at the base was launched following the killing of soldier Vanessa Guillen this year.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said the "issues at Fort Hood are directly related to leadership failures".
The army has also ordered a new policy on dealing with missing soldiers.
The firings and suspensions announced on Tuesday include major generals Scott Efflandt and Jeffery Broadwater.

I wonder if dismissals and suspensions are the best punishments for those former army officials. Sarcasm + Confused

IS tried to build pulse jet-powered drones
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-55229443
BBC Wrote:The Islamic State (IS) group attempted to develop high-speed drones powered by pulse jet engines like those used in V-1 bombs dropped on the UK during World War Two, an investigation has found.
A conflict monitor revealed the engine in a new report about how IS obtained and made weapons under its "caliphate".
Conflict Armament Research (CAR) said IS had "sophisticated production capabilities for improvised weapons".

But what's CAR!? Confused

Google Wrote:Conflict Armament Research is a UK-based investigative organization that tracks the supply of conventional weapons, ammunition, and related military materiel into conflict-affected areas.

BBC Wrote:The report said production became "increasingly technically advanced and quasi-industrialised" between 2014 and 2017, the height of IS's so-called caliphate.
The report said key materials used by IS forces in Iraq and Syria to produce weapons and explosives predominantly came from a small number of huge bulk purchases made by family-run businesses in Europe and Turkey.
Bulk purchases made in 2014 and 2015 continued to fuel IS weapon production until its territorial loss in 2019, the report said.

It's outrageous Angry to learn how some families endorsed IS like that but there's something else you might keep in mind.

BBC Wrote:The report said a "fully constructed pulse jet engine" measuring more than two metres in length was found at a hospital in west Mosul, Iraq in September 2017.

Denmark apologises to children taken from Greenland in a 1950s social experiment
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55238090
BBC Wrote:Denmark's prime minister has apologised to 22 children who were removed from their homes in Greenland in the 1950s in a failed social experiment.
They were taken to Denmark to be re-educated as "little Danes" who could later return to foster cultural links.
But when 16 did return they were put in an orphanage and many did not see their families again. Only six are now alive.
One of the children, Helene Thiesen, who told her story to the BBC in 2015, said the apology meant everything.
A report on the case of the children, who were from Greenland's indigenous Inuit population, was published on Tuesday.

I wonder why it took them like 60 years to apologize for it. Sarcasm But why did they "kidnap" such kids at all?
BBC says that back in 1951 Danish authorities decided that one way to modernise Greenland would be to create a new type of Greenlander.
So Danish authorities still had some sort of colonial mindset that let them think they could mistreat Inuit people. Serious

Ethiopia Tigray crisis: UN team fired at on way to refugee camp
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-55234100
BBC Wrote:Ethiopian troops shot at and detained UN staff after they drove through check-points in the conflict-hit northern Tigray region, government spokesman Redwan Hussein has confirmed.
The UN team ignored instructions not to be in the area, he added.
The UN team was reportedly trying to visit a camp for Eritrean refugees on Sunday when the shooting occurred.
The UN has appealed to the Ethiopian government to give it "unfettered humanitarian access" to Tigray amid concern about food shortages and medical supplies in a region with a population of more than eight million.

Even if the Ethiopian government claims it keeps everything under control in Tigray, refugees and UN forces still are in danger. Confused

Russian 'doomsday' plane's radio equipment stolen by thieves
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55229438
BBC Wrote:Thieves have stolen electronic equipment from a Russian military aircraft known as a "doomsday plane" for its role in the country's nuclear arsenal, local media report.
Reports say unknown thieves broke into the Ilyushin Il-80 plane at an airfield in the southern region of Rostov.
It is unclear when the incident took place, but 39 units of equipment and five radio boards were taken.
Military experts say the aircraft is one of four Il-80s designed to be used as airborne command posts for Russian officials, including the president, in the event of a nuclear conflict. Interfax news agency describes them as among Russia's most classified aircraft.

Keep in mind that the last surviving nuclear arsenal pact between USA and Russia is about to expire. Incidents like this one might turn negotiations to extend it or sign a new one including China into a living hell on earth. Sad

Former Presidential candidate, Eric Swalwell, had been close to Chinese Spy Fang Fang (or Christine Fang). She was part of a Beijing spying operation lasting from 2011 until 2015, when she left the country.
Quote:Her acquaintance with him lasted several years, beginning when he was on the Dublin city council in California, before he won a stunning victory over a Democratic incumbent to enter the House of Representatives. She then raised funds for his 2014 re-election campaign. Federal investigators informed Mr Swalwell of concerns about Ms Fang in 2015, the same year he secured a seat on the House intelligence committee, which oversees various agencies including the CIA and the FBI.
So let me get this straight, the spy, and essentially China, worked to have Swalwell re-elected?   Trust me, I left out plenty, like how his brother kept ties with her on Facebook until just now.
Head-desk Thud And if you're wondering how Swalwell can remain on Senate Intelligence, ask why Dianne Feinstein can too when she had a Chinese spy in employ.  Funny how we only find out about Swalwell now.

FTC Wrote:The Federal Trade Commission today sued Facebook, alleging that the company is illegally maintaining its personal social networking monopoly through a years-long course of anticompetitive conduct. Following a lengthy investigation in cooperation with a coalition of attorneys general of 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam, the complaint alleges that Facebook has engaged in a systematic strategy—including its 2012 acquisition of up-and-coming rival Instagram, its 2014 acquisition of the mobile messaging app WhatsApp, and the imposition of anticompetitive conditions on software developers—to eliminate threats to its monopoly. This course of conduct harms competition, leaves consumers with few choices for personal social networking, and deprives advertisers of the benefits of competition.

The FTC is seeking a permanent injunction in federal court that could, among other things: require divestitures of assets, including Instagram and WhatsApp; prohibit Facebook from imposing anticompetitive conditions on software developers; and require Facebook to seek prior notice and approval for future mergers and acquisitions.

The lawsuit asks the Supreme Court to nullify Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia's elections as they violated the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
The Brief Wrote:When non-legislative actors in other States encroach on the authority of the 'Legislature thereof' in that State to administer a Presidential election, they threaten the liberty, not just of their own citizens, but of every citizen of the United States who casts a lawful ballot in that election—including the citizens of amici States.

Defence Minister Florence Parly has emphasised the need to look ahead.
The report mentioned research on implants that could "improve cerebral capacity" or help soldiers tell enemy from ally. These could also allow commanders to locate them or read their vital signs from a distance.

French cabinet backs law targeting extremism
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55253832
BBC Wrote:The French cabinet has approved a bill aimed at tackling radical Islam after a recent series of attacks by extremists.
The draft law, part of a long-term drive by President Emmanuel Macron to uphold secular values, tightens rules on home-schooling and hate speech.
But Prime Minister Jean Castex called it "a law of protection" that would free Muslims from the grip of radicals.
He insisted that the text was not "aimed against religions or against the Muslim religion in particular".
Doctors could be fined or banned for performing virginity tests on girls.
There are new rules on financial transparency for Muslim associations and a requirement that they sign up to France's Republican values in return for funding.

There are people opposing such a bill and I'd love to ask them if they can really live their peaceful lives knowing that imams and other radical  Muslims are teaching their followers that they should attack anybody criticizing Islam. Court finds UK war crimes but will not take action
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-55247033
BBC Wrote:The International Criminal Court says it will not take action against the UK, despite finding evidence British troops committed war crimes in Iraq.
A 180-page report says hundreds of Iraqi detainees were abused by British soldiers between 2003 and 2009.
But the ICC could not determine whether the UK had acted to shield soldiers from prosecution.
The MoD said the ICC report "vindicates our efforts to pursue justice where allegations have been founded".
The ICC told the BBC: "It is without dispute there is evidence war crimes were committed."
Its report said there was a reasonable basis to conclude that at least seven Iraqis were illegally killed while in British custody between April and September 2003.

Mining giant Rio Tinto to rebuild ancient aboriginal caves
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-55250137
BBC Wrote:Mining giant Rio Tinto must rebuild a 46,000-year-old Aboriginal cave system it blew up in May, an Australian parliamentary inquiry has said.
The Juukan Gorge caves in Western Australia were destroyed as part of an iron ore exploration project.
In a report released on Wednesday, the inquiry blasted Rio Tinto's "inexcusable" act, and said they should compensate the traditional owners.
Earlier this year several senior figures at the company, including Chief Executive Jean-Sébastien Jacques, resigned over the incident, following a backlash from shareholders and the public.
Before their destruction, the Juukan Gorge caves in Pilbara had shown evidence of continuous human habitation since the last Ice Age.
They were seen as one of Australia's most significant archaeological research sites, but they also had more than eight million tonnes of high-grade iron ore, with an estimated value of £75m (A$132m; $96m).

Australian Covid vaccine abandoned over false HIV response
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-55269381
BBC Wrote:A promising Australian candidate for a coronavirus vaccine has been abandoned after trial participants returned false HIV positive results.
CSL and UQ stressed that the positive results were false - meaning trial participants' health was not at risk.
The vaccine had been in stage one of trials, and proving to be effective in making antibodies.
But it also generated HIV antibodies in some recipients - which meant it showed false positives for HIV. Further testing proved the HIV wasn't there.
CSL and UQ said fixing the flaw would take about a year, prompting a decision to abandon the trial.

Perhaps for us it'd be illogical to stop developing the vaccine just because of a false positive for HIV but let's keep in mind that somebody would have got the shot to prevent him or her from contracting the Wuhan virus. Several months later that person would need to prove that he or she hasn't contracted AIDS, that individual would have been listed as positive even if that were some incorrect result. It's the kind of medical errors that could destroy somebody's life forever. Confused

Wuhan Virus: Genes and Severely Ill Patients
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-54832563

BBC Wrote:Scientists looked at the DNA of patients in more than 200 intensive care units in UK hospitals.
Their genomes were then compared with the DNA of healthy people to pinpoint any genetic differences, and a number were found - the first in a gene called TYK2.
“It is part of the system that makes your immune cells more angry, and more inflammatory,” explained Dr Baillie.
But if the gene is faulty, this immune response can go into overdrive, putting patients at risk of damaging lung inflammation.
A class of anti-inflammatory drugs already used for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis targets this biological mechanism, including a drug called Baricitinib.

Even so the drug needs to be tested on thousands of patients before they can certify it's a good treatment for covidose people. Confused

BBC Wrote:Genetic differences were also found in a gene called DPP9, which plays a role in inflammation, and in a gene called OAS, which helps to stop the virus from making copies of itself.
Variations in a gene called IFNAR2 were also identified in the intensive care patients.
IFNAR2 is linked to a potent anti-viral molecule called interferon, which helps to kick-start the immune system as soon as an infection is detected.
It’s thought that producing too little interferon can give the virus an early advantage, allowing it to quickly replicate, leading to more severe disease.

This would be the third study that links Covid to interferon, genetic mutations and autoimmune disorders. Shocked

FDA approves Pfizer's vaccine for distribution
https://www.foxnews.com/health/fda-appro...ne-for-eua
Fox News Wrote:The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday formally granted emergency approval for Pfizer and BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine candidate, officially paving the way for widespread distribution of the long-awaited vaccine.
The vaccine has been recommended to be distributed first to health care workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities.
The FDA's move came just one day after an advisory panel to the agency voted to endorse the Pfizer-BioNTech product.

If you're under 17 don't expect to get the shot any time soon. Confused You see, they had no data on young patients so they couldn't prove it was safe for them or they ever needed it from the very beginning. Still, they might be getting a vaccine next summer.

Supreme Court of the US declines to hear
Trump-supported Texas case over election results in four other states
Legal experts said Texas' case, flawed in several ways, was likely to fail
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scotus-...ction-suit
Fox News Wrote:The Supreme Court has denied a Texas effort Friday that would have essentially nullified the presidential elections in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin.
“The State of Texas’s motion for leave to file a bill of complaint is denied for lack of standing under Article III of the Constitution,” the Supreme Court’s order reads. “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot.”
The order does not foreclose any other pending or future election appeals at the Supreme Court, but time is running out. The states meet next week on Dec. 14 for the Electoral College exercise. And on Jan. 6 there will be a joint session of the House and Senate to count the electoral votes and certify President-elect Joe Biden as the winner.

That didn't stop Trump campaign from publishing a video reminding people of their findings that show how they included extra mail in ballots while counting votes or the way Democratic watchers and others prevented Republicans from supervising the counting.

Some still think there's a slight chance to make the Supreme Court hear their case. Democrats take for granted all of their efforts will fail the same way this lawsuit did.

Biden's Health and Human Services pick
has no public health experience
Becerra's defense of the Affordable Care Act likely landed him the cabinet post
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bidens-...experience
Fox News Wrote:President-elect Joe Biden surprised the health community when he announced his pick for Health and Human Services Secretary earlier this week, Xavier Becerra, the attorney general of California.
Becerra’s legal background made him an unusual pick for the country’s top health official, but the choice shows that Biden is looking beyond the current pandemic, and how he wants healthcare managed in the future.

Everybody realizes that he's been fighting for the Affordable Care Act. Some right wing groups complained about Biden's choice because he outright disrespects values like sanctity of human life, including babies' lives. Meanwhile "lefties" criticized Trump for playing games with sexual and reproductive rights.

In my humble opinion, I gotta tell you that appointing somebody as a head of a department that has no relation to his or her actual professional experience is a stupid mistake. Would you pick a doctor to lead the Pentagon? Happy with a sweat If so be prepared to get all branches of the military shutdown in no time. Tongue sticking out This would be a totally different story if he were running for Congress or Senate where he'd be expected to become a lawmaker. There he could take advantage of his job as an attorney to fight for legal reforms in several areas.
I hope this doesn't mean Biden is showing some sort of sign he's out of his mind already. Laughing Just joking.

Mayhem in Washington, DC, as Trump supporters
and opponents clash following demonstrations
The Metropolitan Police Department said there had been at least six arrests
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-s...-president
Fox News Wrote:Chaos erupted in the nation’s capital Saturday night. Hours after two pro-Trump rallies ended, groups of Proud Boys and Antifa clashed under cover of darkness, with police repeatedly forcing them apart amid reports of brawls and stabbings.
Images and videos on social media show demonstrators exchanging barrages of fireworks, and police intervening on several downtown streets.

We better stay away from DC for the time being. Confused

New investigation destroys Prince Andrew’s alibi
for night he’s accused of having sex with Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘teen slave’
https://knewz.com/prince-andrew-virginia-alibi/
KNEWZ Wrote:The Duke of York claimed during his catastrophic November 2019 BBC interview that the night in question he’d taken his daughter to a pizza restaurant.
Virginia Giuffre is the most prominent accusers of Ghislaine Maxwell, claiming that the disgraced British socialite trafficked her when she was underage into sexual slavery to service the insatiable predatory desires of the late financier Jeffrey Esptein.
He said that instead he took his young daughter Princess Beatrice to a birthday party at a Pizza Express.
The crucial night in question is when a notorious photograph was taken showing Prince Andrew looking cozy with Virginia while Ghislaine Maxwell looks on. It was allegedly taken at Maxwell’s lavish London home — at a point in time when the duke’s alibi claims he was taking his daughter to a pizza joint. Virginia claims that Prince Andrew defiled her three times, doing so first in London and then again in New York and then the Carribean.

Well, that makes his story sound laughable at best. Happy with a sweat

Acting US defense secretary's chief of staff Kash Patel
files $50M defamation lawsuit against CNN
Suit claims CNN engaged in 'pattern of retaliation and discrimination against Kash'
https://www.foxnews.com/media/defense-de...awsuit-cnn
Fox News Wrote:Kash Patel, the chief of staff to Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against CNN and several of its top reporters, claiming the liberal network published false statements and promoted “unfounded left-wing political narratives” by painting Patel as a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist seeking to smear President-elect Joe Biden.
The complaint filed on Friday in Virginia Circuit Court named CNN reporters Barbara Starr, Zachary Cohen, Ryan Browne, Alex Marquardt and Nicole Gaouette as defendants, in addition to the network itself. It claims CNN “deliberately or recklessly conveyed a false message” to sensationalize the “news” and humiliate Patel.

So will this be another hard lesson for CNN's sensationalist Reporter reporters?

Ruhollah Zam: Iran executes journalist accused of fanning unrest
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-55285301
BBC Wrote:Iran has executed a journalist who was accused of using a messaging app to stir up dissent.
Ruhollah Zam was hanged on Saturday after the supreme court upheld a death sentence against him, state television reported.
Zam, who had been living in exile in France, was reportedly detained after travelling to Iraq last year.
He ran Amad News, a popular anti-government website Iran accused of inciting the 2017-18 protests.

So keep in mind that protesters seem to have no rights in Iran (and its neighbor Iraq?) next time you ever travel to the Middle East. Confused
