After reading an article on a SEGA game, namely Sakura Kakumei: Hanasaku Otome-tachi, a game just slightly inspired by the Sakura Wars franchise, I felt confused. The reason is that I can't fully comprehend why players or probably just gemu-otakus around the world...
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that the articles actually mentioned something about the game only being available on Japan for a very short period of time, so I do understand why most of us never heard about it here in the Western World.
Nonetheless, the issue remains the same: fans never forgave the company for exposing the characters' faces while driving the battle machines they use to kill some sort of supernatural enemies somewhere in a fictional Japanese setting. If anyone has ever watched the Sakura Wars anime back in the day, they'll remember how that was impossible because the fighters had to remain safe while confronting those evil forces. Instead they relied on steampunk-like cameras to check their surroundings.
The critics also inform us about another "flaw" they found in such games like making the menu look pretty much like a contemporary Fate game.
I guess we can all agree that it's weird
to find a new game
using a very well known menu style from an unrelated game... unless we were talking about RM fangames, of course. 
Oh yes, there were also some harsh comments on how there was not even a single cameo of any well known SW character in that game. They gotta have felt like they were playing a non SW game then. 
Should games really keep the same character aesthetics forever and ever? Aren't they allowed to make small edits to their sprites or 3D models now?
