January 13 to January 19, 2025

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette!  Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
  Announcements and Updates
This week, Kirito performed a Server Migration as Save-Point ran out of available drive space.  However, he performed a full backup and placed us on a completely clean and new server without any content loss.  It was a complete database copy, plain and simple.

  General Chat
It appears that you may find DerVVulfman checking video shorts if you felt like asking him "What are YouTubing?" And this week,  our Resident Werewolf found a scene from Star Wars Rogue One with a replaced music track that makes Darth Vader absolutely rock!

There were three things that hit this week's News of the World. The first is that California's Adam Schiff had re-hired Maher Bitar as staff, a leader within Students for Justice in Palestine, the pro-Hamas, antisemitic "encampment" protests that have taken over dozens of university campuses last year. Erik Prince, the founder of Unplugged Technologies relayed that Russia just frozen all control of his American-Owned business. Along with that, Vladimir Putin signed a decree to seize the assets of "Universal Beverage", another American owned corporation.  And lastly, the first images of the three female hostages released this Sunday by Hamas has appeared.  After 471 days, Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbreche had been returned to Israel, three of the 33 hostages to be released since 2023.

Games Development
  Development Discussion
This week, DerVVulfman returned to the Maps and screenshots thread to illustrate how hard he has been working on a a help document for his Layered Spritesheet Tool.  And being detailed as he tends to be, he touched upon the history of a Half Kaiser template project from over a decade ago and then began work upon a Getting Started chapter. Meanwhile, Remi-chan revealed a shot from her game in order to show off a fully realized sprite courtesy of her characterset artist.

  Upcoming Projects
Since kyonides released Klans XP, he has been updating it constantly. And this week he had been toiling away, altering the difficulty level mechanics, updating tilesets to respond properly to seasonal changes, improving the statistics display and more.

Material Development
  Resources Database
  2D Resources
Among the Various RMXP sprites by Ace_V, we are now graced with a characterset for a '80s to late '90s cash register.  Ace_V ensured that it is available in all four directions.

Creativity Section
  Music and Audio
If you are woking upon a science fiction game, what type of background score are you interested in using?  Whether it be a light and optimistic romp or a struggle through a dingy distopic landscape, the Original Music and Sound FX supplied by Eric Matyas may be what you need. This week, Eric released three compositions. His first, entitled "Stranger Nights" has a quick echoing synth pattern while a dull wash of discordant harmonies fills your ears; a piece that could be reminiscent of Jerry Goldsmith's Logan's Run score from 1976. His second work was entitled "The Grumpy Monster's Castle", and is an echo filled work that is meant to project a feeling of claustrophobia amidst enclosed walls of stone. And lastly, Eric returns to making more compositions inspired by the Red Planet with "Martian Desolation"  It is another synth piece with a haunting echo, evoking a feeling of that one is within a barren landscape.

  Art and Design
Upon walking through the corridors of the Save-Point museum, you may be graced by entering the wing the displays Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing!. It is not deja-vu, but a final product of the flat-colored render she released just days before. The cruel legionnaire of the Polaris Federation is revealed in his malignant finery, and is followed by an eight-hour speed draw compressed into 7 minutes. But following her reply to Solitaire over what constitutes 'alien', Remi-chan revealed two additional pencilwork sketches, though she confirned the second would not be brought forth into full color.

Behold the Solitairy Artworks.  Returning this week, Solitaire posted colored illustrations of Jerri and Mag, two characters from a comic strip of her own creation. And after that, she uploaded a page from one of her comics, though she had to re-bubble the text as the original character text was deemed illegible.

If you choose to check upon Solitaire's CRAZY WILD OUTLAW WOLF, you will see that she released two more pages of her digitally crafted comic, the first of the two pages with some animated illustration frames.  With the second page, one has to ask... where's the book?  And along with that, get well wishes to Solitaire who felt she was coming down with something at the time of its post.

Three more illustrations appeared within  DerVV's Stream FrankenArts, all three related to Twitch streams by Siletrea.  The first was for an art stream, and DerVVulfman simply added a beret atop Sil's virtual Tuber model. The latter two were for the second Bendy horror games, appearing to use simple cut-outs rather than the more extensive work he performed for the previous streams.

Well, that's it for this week.
