Dude? Is that all you can say? Yet another site you denounce because you claim it is not to your liking. I'm sorry if the truth is the truth. It appears any talking point not to your liking must be tantamount to garbage. However, these facts are not in dispute.

And actually asking me to think for myself? At least I'm thinking. Where the heck did you come up with your Southern math? It is practically tantamount to a theory like...
- Ducks have bills
- Platipus have bills
- Ducks have webbed feet
- Platipus have webbed feet
- Therefore, Platipus are ducks.
Absolutely no history or thought needed for that one, so you should be right at home.

Hello! News Flash! The North was run by a Republican named Abraham Lincoln at the time. The South wasn't Republicanm but dead fast Southern Democrats then.

And for the uneducated, the late Senator Robert Byrd out of West Virginia (a Democrat), was a Kleagle (a clan recruiter). Just look him up.
OTHERS:
  • Edward Douglas White (Chief Justice of the United States from 1910 to 1921)... Klan
  • Hugo Black (Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court Hugo Black, a Democrat in the 1920s)... Klan
  • Senator Theodore G. Bilbo. (Democrat Senator from Mississippi)... Klan (self-revealed on Meet the Press)
  • Bibb Graves, (Democrat and the 38th Governor of Alabama in 1922)... Klan funded the election that won him the office.
  • Clifford Walker (Democrat and 64th Governor of Georgia) ... Klan (revealed in 1924)
  • George Gordon (Democrat Congressman for Tennessee)... One of the Klan's first members in 1867 and its first Grand Dragon in Tennessee
  • John Clinton Porter (Democrat, 33rd Mayor of Los Angeles) ... Klan in the 1920s
  • Warren G. Harding (Republican President 1921-1923) ... Rumor about his membership, the statements are now being labeled as unsubstantiated as no evidence or proof was supplied. And "Harding also vigorously supported an anti-lynching bill in Congress during his term in the White House. While the bill was defeated in the Senate, such activities would be in direct conflict with Klan membership." - Wikipedia
  • David Duke (He ran for president in the 1988 Democratic presidential primaries)... Founder and Grand Wizard of his chapter in the 70's

Insofar as the KKK's foundation by Democrats (and I don't care if you ignore History.com), I'll give you SOME links as well as quotes. But this is not for you, but others to read and see for themselves.

History.com Wrote:Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Party’s Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks. Its members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders.

The Free Republic Wrote:The original targets of the Ku Klux Klan were Republicans, both black and white, according to a new television program and book, which describe how the Democrats started the KKK and for decades harassed the GOP with lynchings and threats.

An estimated 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites died at the end of KKK ropes from 1882 to 1964.

The documentation has been assembled by David Barton of Wallbu More..ilders and published in his book "Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White," which reveals that not only did the Democrats work hand-in-glove with the Ku Klux Klan for generations, they started the KKK and endorsed its mayhem.

PBS - The American Experience Wrote:At the time of Ulysses S. Grant's election to the presidency, white supremacists were conducting a reign of terror throughout the South. In outright defiance of the Republican-led federal government, Southern Democrats formed organizations that violently intimidated blacks and Republicans who tried to win political power.

The most prominent of these, the Ku Klux Klan, was formed in Pulaski, Tennessee, in 1865. Originally founded as a social club for former Confederate soldiers, the Klan evolved into a terrorist organization. It would be responsible for thousands of deaths, and would help to weaken the political power of Southern blacks and Republicans.

Fact: The 14th Amendment, giving full citizenship to freed slaves, passed in 1868 with 94% Republican support and 0% Democrat support in congress. The 15th Amendment, giving freed slaves the right to vote, passed in 1870 with 100% Republican support and 0% Democrat support in congress.

Fact: In the 1950s, President Eisenhower, a Republican, integrated the US military and promoted civil rights for minorities. Eisenhower pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1957. One of Eisenhower's primary political opponents on civil rights prior to 1957 was none other than Lyndon Johnson, then the Democratic Senate Majority Leader. LBJ had voted the straight segregationist line until he changed his position and supported the 1957 Act.

Fact: The historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress. In the House, 80 percent of the Republicans and 63 percent of the Democrats voted in favor. In the Senate, 82 percent of the Republicans and 69 percent of the Democrats voted for it.
Up is down, left is right and sideways is straight ahead. - Cord "Circle of Iron", 1978 (written by Bruce Lee and James Coburn... really...)

Can we have a time out for a sec?

If we're going to segregate this topic and make it a dedicated debate thread can we get some debate ground rules up in here? What's everyone's debate thesis? What points qualify as win/loss conditions? Or is this going to be one of those disorderly things where everyone just throws out random facts? Cuz right now this seems like a random fact game show. XD

Position, stance, and arguable points of merit... go!

Yes.

And for fucks sakes, DerVV, I told you why History.com is an invalid source, because it posts bullshit like Ancient Aliens!
And, Jesus, you post Free Republic too? Even the site clearly claims that it is for conservatives, so you can right away tell it is biased toward ONE side.
At least you have PBS...
Here, since you seem to be incapable of critical thinking, how about you learn from this: https://www.criticalthinking.org/TGS_fil...iaBias.pdf

Fine! But, regardless of how good the Republicans were then, we are speaking of TODAY! And the fact of the matter is that they are worse today than they were like 20 or 30 years ago. You keep focusing on the failure of the Democrats, that you are so utterly blind to the actions of the Republicans. For example: the letter to Iran, the government shutdown, and there is that Arizona politician who wants to pass a bill stoning gay people. And already one state passed a bill that allows you to bully others for religious reasons.

Ah, why bother. I can't get you to see how destructive the Republican actions are that they have so far displayed. Welcome to fucking U.S. where the education is shit, over half of the population denies Evolution, and where 80% of population want labels telling them of DNA in their food...
I'm done with this silly debate. You are the mod; close this thread. All this is creating division.
