I still find a slight taste of XAS there that partially breaks the illusion in my case, but yeah, people will say it looks good so far.

I know exactly which part you mention and we both are working to fix it!
we hope to have another updated official playable beta-demo out soon! (warning the term "soon" can mean anywhere from a few hours to 4 months...also how the heck can you read this?)

We also added some bonus materials, some windowskins and a music. Just for fun :p We had to cut back on certain features, such as animated busts, but found that effect actually has potential use in other ways. There's still content that haven't been added as they are still in the works (such as the new menu), but for now we'll be taking a little break from YY but we are still open for feedback, suggestions or questions :D We hope you enjoy the new update :)
P.S. you may see text files called profile codes etc... those aren't necessary for the game ^^;; you can delete those, we forgot to remove it. Those were just reference codes we were using for animated busts :p

MASSIVE UPDATE!
er...kinda?
because you see! Lunarberry and I have been thinking things over and we've found that right now the best way to take the next step forward is actually taking a few steps back!
we're " Soft Resetting" Yesteryear
whats a soft reset? GOOD QUESTION!
to us a soft reset is taking the art that we know were using and essentially jumping ship from our old file and recreating Yesteryear! we're keeping the story and the art! but redoing all events to streamline better!
we're firstly focusing on mechanics!
the animated chat system
the battle system
the shop system
the DDR system
we're taking these wonderful elements and refining them!
putting together a better game utilizing these mechanics fully!
(plus my old eventing was trash and we're both tired of fixing my old higglety pigglty eventing bugs)
so the next true playable update may take quite awhile to be released but we assure it will be a MUCH better experience for all! and we'll keep you all updated throughout our game making journey! promise!
thanks for taking the time to check in on the development of Yesteryear! and have a great day!

That soft resetting bit kind of reminded me on my project, Memorie, where I did a soft reset to make the storyline better, as well as remove unnecessary events, variables, etc.
