World Maps
I tried to figure out how to make these an actual tileset... but I don't think it's possible without losing the organic look they have so I've decided to do it this way.
http://www.mediafire.com/?trk15dxil8mqlwc
http://www.mediafire.com/?3i656v3p5asno2o
I attached both a .xcf file (GIMP) and .psd (photoshop). I made it in gimp, so there's a chance you'll have to play with the layers a little to get it to work properly in photoshop... someone will have to test it and let me know. The sheet has 20+ continents that you can cut/paste to make your own map.
Layers (from bottom to top)
- Layer 1 - Base black/white image I used to make the continents, you shouldn't really need this unless you want to redesign them yourself or you can puzzle some together to make larger continents[/*]
- Layer 2 - Map background - you can replace this with any blank image you wish, a quick google of "unrestricted aged paper texture" should get you a good amount of results[/*]
- Layers 3-7 - Water, I divided it up so you wouldn't have to chop any of the water to get specific continents, you can change the opacity settings if you want it more blue, or take it off altogether if you don't want a water effect[/*]
- Layer 8 - The colored continent base - you can change this to whatever color you'd like, I like tan/brown colors that resemble maps, but feel free to customize or color each continent differently for a different feel[/*]
- Layer 9 - I gave them a little reddish texture, it can be removed if you don't like the effect[/*]
- Layer 10 - I burned the edges of all the continents, this too can be removed if you don't like it[/*]
- Layer 11 - The outline - I wouldn't recommend removing this, but you can change outline colors depending on your background, sometimes white can look nice or solid black.[/*]
- Layer 12 and 13 - these are optional outlines opacity can be changed or they can be removed all together[/*]
Once you have the continents how you want... you need...
Stuff!!!
*I've had photobucket screw up my links before... so let me know if it messes them up*
I'll add more to this as I make them, but for now I have mountains, houses, trees, and some misc stuff. I wasn't sure what I liked so I have both a plain version and a version with a glow effect to it, use whichever you like.

After that it pretty much just needs labels, I can't think of a realistic way to provide labels, so unless someone has a suggestion it shouldn't be to hard to find some interesting fonts and add labels to the image.
Eventually I'm going to make a set of compass roses to this, but for now there are several photoshop compass rose brushes that are very nice.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me here or PM :)

Slayers Wonderful Windowskin [Bonus: Cursors] |

Hello, Save-point. Been awhile since I logged in but I assure you I lurk here quite frequently. Well today, I decided I'd share something instead of leech. I recently got really into the Slayers series and started playing the PSX game "Slayers Wonderful." While the game didn't impress me too much (mainly the map and overworld display), I really like the interfaces the game had. With that said, I am slowly working on making a replica of the Slayers Wonderful Menu and possibly the battle system in the future. But today, I have the game's windowskin and cursors to go with it for you all to enjoy.
I suppose a drawback to this one is that you do indeed need a cursor script to use this (Selwyn's works just fine, though you will need to use 2 different cursors for the full Slayers Wonderful effect), but besides that this is really a simple pretty skin to use in your game. Without further ado, here you go:
Windowskin:
Menu Cursor (this is used in the menu only):
Main Cursor (This is used for choices in dialogue):
I also have part of the battle cursor which isn't really all that useful (since it's meant to be animated, and it looks like Banpresto tried giving it some pseudo-3d effect, which fails), but I'll throw it up here anyway:
Enjoy :)
edit: appears that when selecting something in the menu you get the standard RMXP selection, the menu cursor is only for selecting the main options such as Status, Items, etc. http://snag.gy/u8pZi.jpg As you can see it also applies in battle: http://snag.gy/M7AUw.jpg

KSkillMax
XP & VX & ACE
Version: 1.4.00 & 1.2.2 & 1.3.02
by Kyonides Arkanthes
Introduction
This script allows you to set a limit to the number of skills a hero may learn and keep for use in battles a la Pokemon but the menu looks and works in a different fashion. Actually, it looks more like any default menu than anything else. Besides the player may select which learned skills will be replaced with new ones IF the player ever wants any of them to be replaced. There's no problem if the player may prefer to replace just a few or even none of them.
It's a Plug & Play script but it's still possible to change its settings by checking and editing most of the Constants found in KSkill module.
Since version 1.1.0 you may count on 2 script calls to allow the heroes increase their skill limits if deemed necessary.
XP & ACE
Code: $game_party.actors[INDEX].extra_skills += NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO
$game_party.actors[INDEX].extra_skills -= NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO
$game_actors[ID].extra_skills += NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO
$game_actors[ID].extra_skills -= NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO
Or you can increase it by 1 if you equip a certain accessory.
They've told me that's how Persona works.
VX Only
Code: $game_party.actors[INDEX].increase_skill_limit(NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO)
$game_party.actors[INDEX].decrease_skill_limit(NUMBER GREATER THAN ZERO)
I think that the method names included in those script calls make clear what they are supposed to do during gameplay. The catch is that every single time you use any of them the skill limit increases or decreases by that number. Make sure the skill limit never goes below the original skill limit nor it reaches zero.
The VX version of my script already includes two new info windows that will let you find out all there is to know about the selected skill so you as the player can take a better decision. I'll see if I can also do the same with the XP version, but that will take some time...
