Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
Announcements and Updates
For those wondering about the Forum Updates Happening, its is mainly the onging recreation of RPG Maker Central within the forum's Archival board. Having finished recreating the Scripts and Plug-ins, DerVVulfman began work upon restoring the resources lost, and had already reconstructed the Audio, 3D Models and 2D Resources sub-forums. However, he still has a ways to go as he only just stared upon the RPGMaker resources sub-forum itself.

Sometimes, and old game is still entertaining. So if you are a fan of classic first person shooters, you may wish to ask AVGB-KBGaming just "What are YouTubing?" This past week, she was checking out a video of Doom Mods that gave the classic 1993 game and its '94 successor new graphics, new sound and new life.

This week, the re-Election of President Donald Trump hit the Thread=7628]News of the World[/Thread]. And while many world leaders such as Zelensky, Modi and Milei sending congratulations, he received cold shoulders from Russia, Iran, China, Venezuela, and a rocket barrage by Hezbollah launched at an Israeli town named in his honor. And with that, so too are the Democrats not pleased, Hollywood actors threatening once again they'll leave the U.S., and California's Governor Newsom working to impede the Trump administration. Even worse, a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) official had to be fired after learning she instructed workers to ignore any homes in Florida that had Trump-For-President signs. Within the Middle East, Qatar had requested Hamas no longer remain within their country, their presence unacceptable after Hamas refused another hostage release proposal this past October. And after Israel called for the replacement and removal of the UNRWA, the United Nations which has yet to condemn Hamas for October 7th claims its replacement would be Israel's responsibility and problem. And of the Ukrainian/Russian conflict, Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Moskow, the largest since the war began, shutting down its major airports. However, Ukrainian troops have now encountered North Korean units deployed along the Kursk border, fighting on Russia's behalf. California's Gascon losing re-election to Hochman on a pro-law and order platform, China increasing their aggressiveness towards Taiwan by 300%, Nancy Pelosi flip-flopping over how the Harris Presidential campaign began, the death of Tony Todd, known for roles such as Candyman and Final Destination, monkeys gone loose in Florida, and more hit this week's news.

When the week began, so did Tepe's request for wachunga's Fog of War be adapted to let NPCs erase the static background that conceals the map. DerVVulfman took a look at the nearly two-decades old script and nervously gulped, but later returned with a demo that showed some promise. Tepe appreciated teh cleaner code and had an edit of his own, one that established both map and event options as configuration data rather than having it coded into the maps themselves. Near the end of the week, DerVVulfman returned with another demo with more functions and NPCs actually walking around and clearing the map as they go, and included his own variation of one of Tepe's options as he states the work is still ongoing.

RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
Someone experienced an issue with the RPGMaker XP edition of KBattleFront XP, that being a call for a non-default Graphics.width property. With that, kyonides performed another update, making it compatible with standard versions of RPGMaker XP as well as his HiddenChest engine that has the Graphics.width property built within.

There may be times when you want the dialogue to be hidden for a time, the appearance of a character portrait before a monologue for example. For this, kyonides created the Toggle Message Window script for RPGMaker XP, one that allows the game developer to hide and reveal the message window when desired.

Music and Audio
For those wanting music with that low-fidelity feel, Eric Matyas revisited some of hisOriginal Music and Sound FX from four years earlier and re-recorded three of his compositions. The new LoFi tracks of sorts have two energetic pieces, and one that is a bit more thoughtful and introspective.

Art and Design
This week three new granite-like textures appeared within Eric Matyas's Library of Free Images. One of the textures is very much cobalt blue, the second slate blue/gray and the third a lighter pale gray with dark mottling.

Well, that's it for this week.

"I’m thinking of buying a monkey. Then I think, ‘Why stop at one?’ I don’t like being limited in that way. Therefore, I’m considering a platoon of monkeys. So that people will look at me and see how mellow and well-adjusted I am compared to these monkeys throwing feces around." - Robert Downey, Jr.

Announcements and Updates
Last week's news about Forum Updates Happening was that all the salvagable script content from the now-closed RPG Maker Central website was finally uploaded and archived. But this week, DerVVulfman stated he was not entirely done, using the Internet archive to visit the site under its previous banner of RPG Maker VXAce. Sadly, the Internet Archive had very little of the forum under the original name, and the blogs and websites the authors used to store their content had vanished and was unable to be rescued. However, he was able to acquire a couple dozen more scripts that would have perished otherwise.

Occasions
A ghost making its presence known before Halloween seemed a fitting entrance indeed for xxphantomxstarx. A fan of games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Silent Hill, he is experienced in the use of RPGMaker MV though is considering the use of Godot for some projects, his current projects being Sonic and Magical Girl fangames. He was greeted by DerVVulfman whom suggested that such a ghostly figure may fit right in amongst wiccans, demons and werewolves. And then greets came by way of Remi-chan whom suggested our forum to our new poltergeist.

General Chat
Just before Halloween, DerVVulfman decided to check out some videos. If you were inclined to approach him and ask ":What are YouTubing?", he might have jumped and wonderd if "Somebody's Watching Me".

This week, little was relayed about the News of the World, except content detrimental to the U.S.'s Biden Administration. The stenographer who recorded President Biden's statement that labeled Trump supporters, and essentially half the nation, as garbage came forward to state the White House itself had altered the official record, essentially changing it to rewrite history. And following that, Mark Cuban, the creator of Shark Tank, delivered a semblance of an apology after being blasted for calling women around former President Trump weak and dumb. Meanwhile, the mainstream media went after Trump, once again taking statements out of context when the former President relayed how Liz Cheney would be terrible if put in charge of the military, labeling her a "war hawk" who would send soldiers into war without knowing what it would be like to face rifles aimed at her. In this, the media chose to take the statement of rifles aimed at her, and falsely stated that Trump suggested that she be put before a firing squad. There is that, and the dismal jobs report at the end of October which was the only news reported this week.

Tech Talk
This week, the News of the Cyber World was in total disbelief when Russia levied an absurd fine upon Google that was higher than the GDP of every nation in the world combined, this for Google baring Russia's propaganda engine ever since they invaded Ukraine and flooded Youtube with propaganda content. While Google's use of AI had boosted the tech giant's revenue by 15%, trouble reared its head. The very day a Federal judge ruled that Google itself was a Monopoly, Google's own president gave an illegal gag order to all employees not to discuss the ongoing anti-trust cases. Meanwhile, a revolt is forming within Amazon as five-hundred employees sent a letter to the CEO in protest of the full five-day work week schedule, demanding a three-day work week remain in place. As Amazon states 90% agree with the change and the current 3-day work week made collaborative projects more difficult, the letter claims the return to the original schedule was unrealistic.

If you were wondering What's up with RMers like kyonides, the concept of having enemies already afflicted with a status ailment before battle was prevalent. Meanwhile, Remi-chan provided screenshots from the tutorial arc of her game, whilst also releasing a near-complete visual of one of her game's NPCs courtesy of her character sprite artist.

Tepe asked for a means to get DerVVulfman's Immense Events to work with Mr. Mo's ABS v 5.5, an action battle system that DerVVulfman was quite familiar, noting in some instances that MrMo had no influence on the new additions since version 4.5. Days after Tepe put forth the inquiry, DerVVulfman released a variation that accomodated the battle system that Tepe was using as well as MrMo's original. And after Tepe looked into preventing those delivering missile-based attacks, and then tackled skill-based attacks between events. And upon the first of the month, DerVVulfman put together a script for Tepe to prevent specific enemies from being knocked back after being hit. Still, Tepe is encountering some issues, but DerVVulfman presented video footage that he could not replicate the issue, and asked Tepe to see if he could find a way to recreate the issues.

Music and Audio
Eric Matyas has found enjoyment re-recording his previous tracks in a low-fidelity format. So if anyone wished to peruse the library of his Original Music and Sound FX, you would find he has new lofi editions of half-a-dozen ominous tracks just before this Halloween.

Art and Design
Instead of a single full-color portrait, Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing! was gifted with four sketches. The first sketch was that of Thewl, an inegmatic lass with a scarf and hood, with her panda ears showing through. After that, the other three sketches were in keeping with the spooky season, a party-animal skeleton, a scithe wielding femme fatale with an unsettling grin, and lastly a fireball flinging female with not a care for anyone or anything.

For those that need brickwork for a house or structure, the Massive Library of Free Images by Eric Matyas now has three new seamless textures. In a ruddish brown, darkened crimson, or a faded clay, you may find something that fits.

Literature Section
A new chapter appeared within the binder of Remi-chan's Writing Snippets~, lore revealing the events preceding all of her other works, let alone her gaming universe. And within the tale woven, Remi-chan explored the past of a returning character, and the anguish she felt after the ultimate betrayal.

Filmography
A recent post within Remi-chan's Cinematic Theatre presents a cutscene from game, but after an extensive remaster of the audio track, showcasing the latest vocal actress added to the cast.

Well, that's it for this week.

A major accomplishment Happened in the Forum as DerVVulfman announced that all salvagable script and plug-in content from the late RPG Maker Central forum has finally been uploaded. He says there is more work to be accomplished, a major task of which may be to return to see what could be saved when the forum went under the name RPGMakerVXAce. That, and that the restoration of graphic resources that he managed to acquire before the board went down. A herculean task according to Remi-chan, she admits she aimed the resident werewolf to that target and was impressed with such steadfastness.

General Chat
Early this week, the News of the World focused on US Vice PresidentKamala Harris, now busted for more counts of plagiarism, this time within the halls of Congress. Harris's presidential campaign began working to attack former President Trump with rhetoric comparing him to Adolph Hitler not unlike Nancy Pelosi in 2021, while President Biden caught himself stating "we gotta lock him up". However, Fox News's Pete Hegseth gave a report showing that Democrats have decried every Republican candidate as Hitler since 1948 without fail, beginning as far back as President Truman. The unrest in Haiti has worsened according to the United Nations, violence surging 22% as gangs work to claim new territory whilst committing rape and murder to keep the fearful citizens in line. Gangs have gone so far as to open fire upon U.N. helicopters carrying observers, forcing it to set down in Port-au-Prince. And while nations within the U.N. made a pledge to send 3000 troops to bring about peace, only a scant hundred have been deployed. Regarding Illegal Immigration, even the small town of Barras de Copalita, Oaxaca in Mexico took a stand against a US bound migrant. This while a new report revealed that 2.6 Million migrants have now entered the U.S this year, Biden's immigration policy effectively outside the law passed by Congress in 1990. And worse, a Biden DHS official actively caught using his TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram accounts to promote illegal crossings. Who's side is the U.N. Secretary General António Guterres on is a question many within the U.N. are thinking. While Russia had been denounced for invading Ukraine, Guterres chose to meet with Putin and even give a welcoming hug at the international BRICS summit, thus enflaming many within the U.N., and Ukraine's President Zelensky. Meanwhile, who's side is the UNRWA on, this as Israeli forces took out Mohammad Abu Itiwi, a commander in Hamas’ elite Nukhba forces who was simultanously a member of this division of the U.N. Israel launched its counterstrike against Iran, attacking military bases and factories that supply the nation with weaponized drones and missiles such as the near-two-hunderd that were launched against Israel just weeks before. Following the attack, Israel vowed to continue their assault if Iran dared to further respond with violence. Hezbollah, Russia and Venezuela joining forces does not sound comforting, but Israeli officials have confirmed the existence of Iran backed Hezbollah bases in Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Venezuela while Venezuela plans to join Russia's BRICS. Over three-thousand North Korean Troops working for Russia, Virginia's Governor Younkin taking his case to remove 1,600 illegal aliens from voting ballots to the Supreme Court, McDonald’s worsening E. Coli outbreak, UK's Labour Party interfering in US elections, foreign influencers fueling anti-semitism in NY schools, Gazcon's recommendation for a Menendez Brothers retrial, Austria's Populist Party shut out of forming their government despite winning the election, Lord Waheed Alli of the U.K.'s House of Lords involvement in four apparent conflicts of governemnt interest, and much more hit this week's news.

This week, it was revealed that Chinese Hackers had indeed targeted both the communication networks of the Trump/Vance Presidential campaign, and the phone systems of the Harris/Walz Presidential campaign. Though sources reveal that both presidential campaigns have been notified, and that the New York Times reported that investigators were determining if any communications were leaked during the hack, the FBI and Department of Justice refused to deliver any comments. It should be noted that the DOJ indicted three of Iran's Revolutionary Guard for hacking Trump's campaign earlier in an attempt to disrupt the November elections.

For Remi-chan, receiving the final slew of graphics for so-defined 'faithful' NPCs was What's up with her RMing. Among the graphics, a female bat-like humanoid wearing a red high-slit strapless. But whilst she awaited the graphics, she was updating most of the content from her game's tutorial chapter, Disc 0.

More tales appeared from Solitare's query if Anyone Ever Tried to Create A Game+ System, this time Remi-chan relaying how she challenged herself to craft an Action Battle System with nothing but events for a Indie Game contest, such a tale having impressed Solitaire. Following that, DerVVulfman relayed how he saw such endeavors being accomplished in the older RPGMaker line relied solely upon the developer's use of events, and then later followed it up with a concise breakdown of the definitions of the various battle-systems seen in games.

Complete Projects
Appearing in time for Halloween is the Horror Mystery, Whispers in the Bitter Frost. Enter Starmage's world of Vyen once more, and assist Avelina, a maiden who wakes up in a strange mansion with scattered memories and a feeling of dread. Dark secrets lie within the manor. Will she find the answers she seeks, or will the darkness wash over her.

It is the time for things to go bump in the night, and as if on cue you can now discover Delvin: Origins . A turn-based dungeon crawler set once more within Starmage's universe, you are within the Pits of Hell itself. However, you are also the incubus prince of Hell, and are charged by the demon king himself to ascend to the surface world of Vyen to steal away the souls of mortals. But Delvin has other plans. Can you guide him through his journey to confront his father and free him of his dark heritage?

Early this week, Solutide had another request, a repair of sorts between ForeverZer0 Custom Resolution + Littledrago's Zoom scripts. While both scripts apparently worked fine together, an issue appeared. For if the player were to enter the main meu or any non-map scene from an already zoomed/ scaled map, returning to the field map would display a black screen with only the events and weather patterns visible. Afer receiving a sample demo that kyonides requested, he had a few suspicion, such as the tilemap system not fast enough to update itself after returning. And though DerVVulfman thought it might be the answer to a project that he too was working upon, both he and kyonides struggled with the script combination. Eventually, DerVVulfman decided he would return to his own resolution and map zoom project, revealing a short video that he was indeed crafting such a system. Solitaire though highly of what was presented, DerVVulfman's only apparent issue being that the map zoom feature did not focus properly upon the intended zoom target.

RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
Some maintenance was given to the RPGMaker XP edition of Kustom, kyonides's system that lets one customize existing weapons and armor in-game. The issue he had to resolve was the calculated stats that differed when a dual-wielder had two weapons in hand or not.

RPGMaker VX/VXAce (RGSS2/3) Engines
When one tileset is not enough, kyonides created the KTilesetDir feature for RPGMaker VX that solves the dilemma of not having enough variety. A request that the self-proclaimed lazy scripter took upon himself, he fashioned a script that allows the user to create a secondary Tileset folder for an alternate collection of tiles to use.

Returning in time for All Hallows Eve is Eric Matyas and his Original Music. Whilst not new compositions in themselves, Eric revisits three dark melodies and re-records them for those wishing Low-Fidelity versions. The titles of these tracks are "In the Dead of Night", "Midnight Streets", and the ominous "Once Upon a Nightmare".

Art and Design
If one had a work that requires a leather-bound book or pages made of heavy vellum, the Massive Library of Free Images by Eric Matyas may have what you need. Three new textures have appeared within the Paper texture page, textures ruddish or aged darkened yellow which may be of use for ancient scrolls or dark tomes.

Solitare had some fun, despite having to be Da Mess Cleana' of One's Neighborhood. Two humorous illustrations appeared, and garnered chuckles from Remi-chan.

Literature Section
When reading Remi-chan's Writing Snippets~, you get a glimpse into her cybernetically crafted fantasy universe, a universe on the edge of disaster. But this week, the evil maelstrom that seeks to wreak havok found something unexpected, a power far beyond her capabilities.

Filmography
A new teaser appeared within Remi-chan's Cinematic Theatre, a newly created cutscene as the distant sun dwindles in the sky. And the lead actress and the force possibly behind the calamety are voiced by our very on Siletrea.

Well, that's it for this week.

Official Area
Announcements and Updates
It was early this week that DerVVulfman continued relaying about the Forum Updates Happening, how the archive board for the now-extinct RPG Maker Central website has grown, now factoring in over 1200 threads, and roughly 150 RPGMaker MV plugins though his work not complete. He also relayed how many were by a handful of scripters, though some by veteran coders within both Save-Point and RPGMakerWeb as well. But along with that, he also added that the scripts native to Save-Point still being worked upon by its authors, only a scant fifty needing to be split in two for their respective game development engines.

Occasions
A new member named FriKitty appeared, mostly as there's need for some coding assistance with RPGMaker MV and FriKitty's talents lend towards the graphically artistic and not towards the underlying javascript. Like FriKitty, DerVVulfman admits he has no talent towards java, more skill in graphics other than his ruby scripting. And kyonides relayed how others react to RTP graphic use. After that, Remi-chan appeared and revealed she was the inspiration for this Feline and Red-Panda fan's appearance while reminding FriKitty that a discord for the forum too exists.

General Chat
This week's News of the World was the stunning death of Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas and chief orchestrator of last year's October 7th massacre. Confirmed to have two bodyguards from the U.N with him, and confirmed to have a UNRWA teacher's passport to evade capture, he was the last of the three top commanders involved in the massacr. With his death, Israel issued demands to the now decimated Hamas to release the last 100 hostages, though the terror group remains defiant. As expected, Hezbollah and Iran threatened retaliation, but Israel's planned responce to the nearly-two-hundred missile barrage had not yet been delivered. For the U.S.'s top law enforcement, things appear bleak, admitting that child sex trafficking has tripled under the Biden administration, that the FBI re-released the 2022 crime stats showing violent crime had actually risen as former President Trump accurately stated, and that a Bi-Partisan report stated the Secret Service itself needs to be fundamental changes otherwise another 'Butler' (Pennsylvania) incident would occur, this after an incident at another Trump rally. But despite the man having loaded guns, fake passports and fake license plates, law enforcemetn claim it was not another assassination attempt. Between Ukraine and Russia, it was revealed that North Koreans are now supplying troops to bolster Putin's army. But for Ukraine, troops are not an issue, weapons and equipment are. Vice President Harris's interview on Fox News was considered the most watched with over seven million viewers, yet refused to answer anything about military aid to Israel, kept pivoting away when asked how she felt about Biden's fitness, and sidestepped questions about the money that went to Iran. This while reports show she intends to have former President Trump prosecuted as her administration would be on track for over 10 million more migrants. And if anyone forgot how Ms Harris had been copying all the campaign promises of Donald Trump, plagiariazed Martin Luther King's 1965 "Fweedom" account, a bombshell report showed that Harris's book "Smart on Crime" contained plagiarized material, some articles copied virtually verbatim from the Wikipedia. Iranian operatives identified in Nicaragua as the communist nation cuts ties with Israel, cartel gunmen attack a newspaper office in Sinaloa, Mexico, Bolivian socialist former president Evo Morales threatens to starve the nation over human trafficking and rape charges, the death of ‘South Pacific’ Star Mitzi Gaynor at 93, the Trump vs Harris McDonald's Fries discussion and more hit this week's news.

Tech Talk
The threat of AI and the threat to free speech hit this week's News of the Cyber World. First, an AI Girlfriend site was breached, with reports of the users now being extorted. Parents of a Massachussets student are suing the school district for punishing the student whom used AI, this despite the school policy and handbook stating AI use was explicitly prohibited. And an expert witness in New York gets blasted by the judge for his reliance on Microsoft's Chatbot for his testimony and could not recount how his calculations were arrived. Meanwhile, the E.U.s' outgoing Vice President calls on a 'whole-society' approach to squash perceived disinformation, even after findings show no disinformation played a role in the recent Parliament elections, and labeled Elon Musk a promotor of evil for his stance on freedom of speech and against censorship. Its been bad luck for Tech Giants, as both Google and Amazon have been found cozying up to the Office of U.S. Trade Representative to undermine overseas regulations. And Microsoft's hypocrisy becomes apparent as they both warn against chinese cybersecurity hacks whilst maintianing ties to a CCP run science academy. Tesla under investigation after car crash fatalities, Meta firing staff across board, Amazon and Google going nuclear, and more hit this week's cybernews.

A new Digital Defense Report issued by Microsoft announced that both Russia and Iran are indeed collaborating with Chinese Hackers against all their adversaries, Russia outsourcing to China to inviltrate Ukrainian systems whilst a Chinese Hacker promoted anti Israeli influence on Iran's behalf.

For those active in game design, the idea of making manditory boss/target kills a requirement for attaining levels was What's up with kyonides. And Remi-chan revealed that she's been productive, releasing a video revealing the updated battlesystem and the new vocal artist for Sacreblu during battle whilst our own Siletrea still voices the teenage Solar Powerhouse facing her in combat.

Solitare was curious this week, if Anyone Ever Tried to Create A Game+ System?. DerVVulfman didn't have such a system, but relayed how he reworked the entire menu system not to pause game during a Zelda-like battlesystem, getting a chuckle out of Solitaire and Remi-chan. However, Zeriab did make such a feature, noting how his version stored the data in a separate file, bot unlike how he made game import systems for others. And while Remi was surprised by Zeriab's sudden and rare appearance, Solitaire was indeed impressed, and surprised by what could actually be done with what's been read.

Complete Projects
This week, Starmage was in the mood to release new trailers from her previous game jam entries. Restoring Falmay is a classic RPG of the SNES fantasy era, classic RTP graphics overshadowed by its symphonic score. And her Summer game jam entry of A Sun-Kissed Fantasy takes one to a modern era island resort with surfing, swimming and hip-hop beats.

Upcoming Projects
The next demo for BlueSkies 3 was up during Steam's Next Fest. You can head to Steam to the Arcane Mastery Tournament with Candace. But it ended before the gazette post. Fortunately, Starmage posted a couple of Lets Play videos some time after.

Code Support
Solitaire was determined to acquire the GW Animated Battle backs script so he can use it with Victor Sant's Atoa ACBS, and eventually got something barely legible from the now-contitionally active Internet Archive. DerVVulfman discovered there were plenty of illegal and hidden characters, and both he and kyonides went back and forth posting script content while Solitaire tested the work. Eventually, Solitaire posted a demo which DerVVulfman examined, returning a revised demo of his own. And while the script isn't generating an overlapping second battleback, Solitaire said it appeared to be functional.

RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
Formerly known as KAftermathSpoils, kyonides redubbed his script KAftermathSpoils as it now offers new ways to increase and decrease gold earned after battle.

RPGMaker VX/VXAce (RGSS2/3) Engines
Just as he did with the RPGMaker XP counterpart, kyonides redubbed the RPGMaker VX and Ace battle-treasure scripts KAftermathSpoils as they too now offer new ways to increase and decrease gold earned after battle.

For those who are interested in the Tankentai Battlesystem for RPGMaker VX, kyonides adapted Battle Item Count VX + ACE to work with Crimsonseas' "Targetting Extended for Takentai Non-ATB".

The Trader's Workshoppe
Now available for users of RPG Developer Bakin is the Pixelscapes DLC. Textures for buildings interior and exterior there are both Town Packs not unlike towns in Zelda or the RPGMaker Town -based RTP tiles, and the Forest Pack for dirt paths amidst verdant trees, and rustic buildings both inside and out.

The Halloween Sale with 50% off at Haxo Game Studios is about to begin. Starting this up-coming Friday, everthing will be half price.. But if half price isn't enough of a bargain, HGS announced an even sweeter deal. Buy all the items available for only 39.99€ instead of 128.00€, less than 1/3rd the original price. But remember that this is a limited time offer, ending on the 4th of November.

Two more compositions have arrived within DoubleX's Music Room, one being his first. "False Hope" was not a favored composition, though some DoubleX did find some parts workwhile. And "Cry Until I'm Blind" is a piece that he suggests to highlight a distressing scenario.

Continuing with his late 80s collection of pieces is Eric Matyas, whom continues tol Share His Original Music. Recently added to his Puzzle Music room is "Candy Smash", a composition with techno highlights amidst a more contemporary drum and bass guitar rhythm.

Art and Design
For those with the need to render brickwork or slabs of sone with coarse, dark grains showing, then you may wish to peruse the Massive Library of Free Images created by Eric Matyas. This week, he added three new 2048x2048 stonework textures, two of which not dissimilar to granite with its visible grains. The third texture, dark as it is, may be some form of igneous rock like granite, but far more shale in appearance.

(October 7 to October 13, 2024)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette!  Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
  Announcements and Updates
This week, DerVVulfman announced that there were indeed some Happenings with the Forum Update, sadly noting that the substitute for the now-lost Forum Stats window isn't compatible, and had temporarily crashed the server itself. Fortunately, Kirito was on hand to take care of the issue, relaying part of the cause and rebooting the server. But on a happier note, DerVVulfman also announced that the number of scripts restored and uploaded to the RPG Maker Central Archives well over 900 scripts and could around 60% done.

  Occasions
This week, Solitaire came by to join. But yet, there was no solitary visitor to the thread, but many. DerVVulfman whom has some experience with the battle system that Solitare is interested, kyonides whom begun some continuous levity involving chicken soup of all things, AmbiguouslyAnonymous whom offered hearty greetings, and Remi-chan who suggeted to bring forth the chaos.  Solitaire felt very much at home.

  General Chat
If anyone thought the Google Search Algorithm SUCKS, you are not alone. Solitaire created a rant thread to express frustration over the search engine that appears to be getting worse.  DerVVulfman relayed his issues with the search engine, pointing to how sees to auto-correct what is being searched, and Remi-chan needing additional add-ons to blacklist sites instead of relying upon the engine to screen out AI generated content.

Monster boss fights appeared to be the thing if you asked Remi-chan and kyonides What are Youtubing?  First, Remi-chan found that a streamer named Pint chose to make an early appearance and took on the challenge to beat the enemis of Elden Ring in alphabetic order, despite never beating the game ever. And after that, kyondes aired the appearance and fate of Alucard within Symphony of the Night itself.

The middle east still hit the News of the World with President Biden first offering Israel compensation not to strike Iranian targets after the ballistic missile barrage from last week. However, that may now be off the table as the U.S began sending its THAAD missile system and troops to aid Israel's defence. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is getting costly, Ukraine striking major oil terminals while Russian casualties build.Human trafficking and illegal immigration hit the news, The UK revealing that foreigners are twice as likely to be arrested, Hungarian's Prime Minister suggested stronger immigration control policies caused outcry among globalists of the European Union, and whistleblowers are stepping up against the Biden/Harris administration as they bring new evidence it is violating federal immigration laws. The video of gunmen beheading the mayor of Mexico's city of Guerrero going viral, the Afghan man whom was vetted by the Biden Administration after the Afghan withdrawl plotting an Election Day massacre, Hezbollah using environmental NGOs like "Green Without Borders" as terror fronts, an Ohio Professor suggesting to shoot anyone who votes for Trump while former Dallas Cowboys's football star Herschel Walker blasts Obama over race-based identity politics, correcting the record on the FEMA $750 immediate action fund, the final end to Daylight savings and more hit this week's news.

  Tech Talk
Chinese Hackers are a re-occuring blight, with the NSA now tracking them after hacking major US telecomminucation companies.

More issues with Artificial Intelligence appears within the News of the Cyber World as North Korea is using it to generate fake IDs and passports while criminals are still cloning voices. Tech companies are now feeling the pinch, the US DOJ asking Google and its monopoly to be broken up, Disney facing lawsuits over a massive databreach, and numerous states are filing lawsuits against TikTok over mental health issues. This week, Elon Musk had ups and downs, first finding California rejecting SpaceX launches for his support for former President Trump, but then a heralded achievement of SpaceX's re-usable rocket booster guiding itself back to its launchpad. The Fiskar corporation's chapter 11 bankrupcy difficulties and its ties to President Biden, Ben Affleck and his son stranded after his EV dies on the highway, and much more hit this week's cybernews.

Games Development
  Development Discussion
Despite having lengthy instructions and all the typing he apparently does, his distain for writing isntructions was What's Up with him as an RMer, choosing to instead enhance an old script that plays video footage within the RPGMaker XP display. After perusing the newly crafted RPG Central archive, kyonides was inspired to work on a massive protective barrier feature for enemy troops, a discussion that went back and forth between he and DerVVulfman who had ideas how such a feature could be expanded. However, kyondes had a different mechanic. After that, Remi-chan revealed that some character profile screens in her game will also prove  vocal clips, this and some new character sprites

  Code Support
After some time, DerVVulfman posted a complete script that fulfilled Bennerdeben's request for A Skill that throws enemies?.

When Solitaire asked for help over an Error in Atoa's Equipment Set Add-on for his ACBS, it was met with discussions and numerous variations provided by both DerVVulfman and kyonides. Fix after fix and examinations into the causes, a lasting fix was found that pleased Solitaire for seeing so much heart going into the work.

It appears that the GW Animated Battlebacks script that Solitaire is looking for is no longer available, a script desired to work with the Atoa ACBS by Victor Sant. While a URL was supplied by the ATOA battle system itself, the site did not produce the desired file. DerVVulfman said it could be possible to find once the Internet Archive returns since it is currently down, the use of the archive not even dawning on Solitaire at the time.

Material Development
  Tools
After some months, a new version of the HiddenChest RGSS Player Executable by kyondes was released, widening the error display screen, repaired issues governing window height variables, BGM playback tests for those using RPGMaker XP and VXAce, and much more.

  Scripts Database
  RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
For those wanting to keep track of the times a choice was made in their game, the ReKordChoices script for RPGMaker XP allows you to do so.

Based upon a requst by Bennerdeben, the Collateral Attacks system allows the game developer to create weapons, skills, items and even actors or enemies to deliver a second attack, one that can attack a variety of custom targets.

Finding that there was a fault within one of the addons created by Victor Sant, kyonides created the ATOA CBS: Equipment Set Variables Patch. This simple fix takes care of a critical error within the Equipment Set addon that comes with the ACBS by Atoa.

  RPGMaker VX/VXAce (RGSS2/3) Engines
For those wanting to keep track of the times a choice was made in their game, the ReKordChoices scripts for RPGMaker VX and VXAce allow you to do so.

Based upon the RPGMaker XP script of the same name, KEnemySwitch for RPGMaker VX allows the game developer to switch out the enemy troops the party if facing in the middle of battle and determine how many troops must be beaten before the battle is over.

Just as the version created for RPGMaker XP, kyonides' TurnOrder VX + ACE allows the game developer to graphically show what actors or enemies are scheduled to attack.

  Resources Database
  Resource Requests
After making a surprise return to the forum, AmbiguouslyAnonymous wondered if anyone had sources of Non-XP RTP Actors in XP Style, particularly npc sprites of characters from other Enterbrain engines redesigned and recrafted in the 48px tall RPGMaker XP style. While kyonides recalled a resource within GDUnilited, Remi-chan instead chose to suggest MV/MZ styled graphics. Yet, Mel provided a couple more sprites and felt she may have more resources within her collection.

  The Trader's Workshoppe
For those who wish to have the feel for old-school pixel rendered games, you will be pleased to find that HGS has offers for you.  His Epic Pixel Art Backgrounds Sale! began last week with a 70% discount that ends this Monday on the 14th. All the resources crafted with a classic 24-bit pixel style. But he wasn't done yet, his DEMO Epic backgrounds is a free collection of pixel-rendered backgrounds, landscapes of every time of the day.

Creativity Section
  Music and Audio
For those working on any game that takes place in a future and has need of 90s synth-pop styled tracks, be sure to check out the Original Music and Sound FX of Eric Matyas. This week, he released a new light-hearted melody entitled "Cities in Orbit", a piece with quick and light snare work and fast-paced rises and dips. And while his music is free, the costs of his website are not, so he is reminding visitors that donations are appreciated.

  Art and Design
It has been years since Eric Matyas added some metal textures to his Massive Library of Free Images, but he has now added a pair of pot-marked tileable plates to the collection. However, he has other things in mind, glass textures for which he hopes will aid others in making gems, stained glass windows, and the like.

There are things worse than nightmares, and those things are held within Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing! In the season of Halloween, Remi-chan rose against her initial desire to paint an artwork of a mischievious and yet caustically ruthless sprite and produced a labor of evil incarnate. The eldrich horror in orchid appears before all, a cup of tea in her grasp and grin on her malevolent face. Of course, Remi-chan now has her one-hundred and fifty second speed draw, this time of the Eldrich Mortician herself.

Well, that's it for this week.

  Forum Updates Happening
Posted by: DerVVulfman - 10-09-2024, 12:06 AM - Forum: Announcements and Updates - Replies (11)

Dear friends,

If anyone was in the forum from 11:00am to 11:15am EST, we did experience some downtime. This was not an issue with late payments, forum hacks or the like.  It sadly was an issue with a software plug-in.

The plug-in, a Forum Stats display to replace the one we can no longer use, was designed around the forum software's architecture. However, it appears the plugin had a bad database structure because it used up all the board's memory and processes, resulting in crashing the server.

A reboot and removal of the plug-in resolved the situation. So the forum is back to nor---*  Thinking

...back to its usual performance.  Dizzy  Joe Cool

However, it appears there will be no return of the Forum Stats window in the near future.

MEANWHILE...  The recreation of RPG Maker Central's software section continues. When last I posted three weeks ago, I boasted we had over 300 scripts from the now perished site.  That number has tripled!

The forum now has over 900 main posts re-created within the RPG Maker Central Archives. They are being recreated oldest (or last visited) to newest, so no RPGMaker MV or MZ plug-ins have yet been posted. Oddly, there are a pair of RPGMaker VX scripts within the collective; an odd thing indeed when it previously went by RPGMakerVXAce.Net.

While working, the Internet Archive itself was down for roughly three hours, beginning at 3pm (EST). So 'tis a good thing that we will be carrying what content was able to be saved.

Working on a short game, mayari[Thread] rekindled some love for RPGMaker XP, though experienced with VX through to MV. Admitting to likely be more of a Lurker, mayari is an avid writer and loves playing Final Fantasy 14 with friends.  Besides writing, mayari enjoys eventing cutscenes, and was greeted by DerVVulfman and Remi-chan.

Experienced with RPGMaker XP for a decade comes [Thread=9870]AdPro
whose hobby is translating games from Japanese into English and other languages.  From his perspective, Save-Point is the only place that still holds a large collection of XP scripts. Greeted he was by DerVVulfman whom also translated scripts from Japanese to English, kyonides who boasts that XP scripts are still being written, and Remi-chan whom threw out a jab at a forum wthat no longer caters to classic content.

Having just purchased RPGMaker XP from a humble bundle comes thorgibrewer. New to any game development, he is looking forward to reading tutorials and study as much as he can for his project. DerVVulfman heard the project title and inquired if it was based upon a classic computer RPG game, while kyonides noted that theres a cadre of scripters and coders for whatever engine he chose.

  General Chat
The expected debate between US Vice President nominees Waltz and Vance was thought to have become the News of the World this week, but was overshadowed by the war in the Middle East. Iran and its sympathisers in Syria mourned the death of the mass murderer Hassan Nessrallah, with Iran launching a ballistic assault of nearly two-hundred missiles targeting the whole of Israel, civilian populations and all. Israel began going after proxies, actively targeting Hezbollah positions and killing a Hamas Commander who was also a member of the UNRWA. During Israel's ground war, they uncovered that Hezbollah plan for an even larger October 7 murderous assault.  Meanwhile, Ukraine's war against Russian aggression heated up as Moscow launched a thermobaric, or air-fuel bomb, targeting a civilian city decimating it. But not only did Russia use one of the largest non-nuclear bombs ever, it was discovered that Chinese Mercs are now conscripted. However, Ukraine fought back, striking Russian airbases, tanks, oil fields, and successfully testing its newest ballistic missile. And despite threatening the US with a nuclear threat, Russia shot down one of its own military jets and fired upon the wrong targets in the Black Sea. In Mexico, turf wars have been waging between cartels, even alongside beach resorts. One vacationer lost his life at the Riu Hotel in Cancun to cartel gunmen on Jet Skis. Meanwhile, twelve bodies were discovered scattered throughout the city of Salamanca in Guanajuato, the murders also related to turf war violence. The bodies were only discovered after an unknown gunmen attacked a rehabilitation center, killing four and injuring five others. As towards the US Vice Presidential Debate, Kamala Harris's VP pick referred to the current administration as hers and not President Biden's and Walz attempted to correct his record over his false claim of being at the Tiananmen Square Massacre. CBS laid ground-rules that there would not be any fact checking. But when they decided to fact-check Vance, Vance responded back and corrected the CBS moderators whom chose to turn off the mics to silence him. And the CBS moderators attempted to claim Iran was weakened under the Harris administration, a claim false since Biden relaxed all sanctions and gave it access to the money which they've used to fund their proxies. After the debate, a video had resurfaced revealing Kamala Harris's claim that Trump would be the one provoking war with Iran. Hurricane Helene caused massive devastation killing roughly 200. Despite this, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) announced they no longer have the funds. A division of Homeland Security, FEMA had been reportedly spent $1 Billion funds to house immigrants. Despite claims by the Harris Administration, Reports and news articles, even this past August, detail its $380 million sweetner to encourage towns to take them in; billions to migrants but only $750 per person in North Carolina. The deaths of movie stars John Ashton, Kris Kristofferson, TV personalities John Amos and Drake Hogestyn, and NBA's legendary Pete Rose, the endorsement of over two-hundred retired Generals and Admirals for former President Trump, practically all of Brazil covered in smoke from the most severe Amazon Rain-forest fire in over a decade, and more hit this week's news

Censorship and free speech hit the News of the Cyber World this week as Brazil threatens Elon Musk $1.8 million over free speech while a Judge blocked California's Banning Deep Fake satires as protected speech. And while Mark Zuckerberg is being hit with a $102 Million fine over security failures, he's hoping Facebook will be not be remembered for its Surveillance and Censorship policies. Entertainment should stay out of politics, or at least finances have made that obvious, as cancellations with Netflix spiked when its CEO pleged millions to the Harris campaign. And Taylor Swift lost 2 million Spotify listeners after her Harris endorsement. Google itself is in hot water, New Zealand refusing to be bullied over its News Legislation bill that intends to promote fair commerce between media companies, and is under a lawsuit claiming Youtube is itself designed as an intentional addictive site targeting youths. After many years, WikiLeak's Julian Assange offered a guilty plea to stay out of prison, claiming he was incarcerated for journalism and not that he actually obtained and published U.S. military secrets. Bank Of America customers finding their bank accounts zero-ed out and empty, a new study showing AI-generated software has over 40% more errors than human-crafted code, and more hit this week's cybernews.

  Development Discussion
If you like to share with others, feel free to say What's up with your RMing, as Steel Beast 6Beets continued the dialogue over one of kyonides's latest scripts. But the discussion went back and forth between editions of RPGMaker XP over the years with DerVVulfman surprising Steel Beast 6Beets that he may not have needed to repurchase the engine if he still had the license. However, Steel acquired it so long ago, he knows not where he bought it.  Later, DerVVulfman observed an odd difference in RPGMaker XP handling damage from items, a difference not replicated in any RPGMaker engine since.

Only released two weeks ago, and Starmage's Restoring Falmay already has a TV Tropes page by Bugfragged.

For a limited time, you can get Rave Heart for just half price. Steam chose to run a sale on Turn-Based RPG games, but the sale ends on Monday, the 7th of October.

  Upcoming Projects
This week, you can get two of Starmage's games on Steam for just 50% of the price.  Until this Monday, October the 7th, you can find both Heroes of the Seasons and Stellar Bewitching (Remastered) at half price during Steam's Turn-Based RPG Fest.

  Code Support
Last week, Bennerdeben asked for help crafting A Skill that throws enemies, or to apply additional damage to random enemies after a defined skill hits a target.  What DerVVulfman created pleased him, but found an issue with the code if the enemy troop only had one member. DerVVulfman was already on top of it, offering a replacement script. And before Bennerdeben even asked for more features, DerVVulfman replied he had those features in the works, and more.

  RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
There are a few battle-systems that display the order in which the combatants fight. But this week, kyonides released his KTurnOrder XP script for RPGMaker XP which lets you see which battlers are engaged and when it becomes their time to attack. While only recently released, kyonides returned to update the hud system as well as the attacking battler icons.

In some games, the party heals immediately after combat. But it is usually an all-or-nothing situation. That did not sit right for kyonides, and he chose to put together KAftermathHealing XP to grant the game developer some options few considered. This new script for RPGMaker XP allows the party to heal, indeed. But now the degree of healing may depend upon how well they  performed in combat.

Additional work was performed upon KEnemySwitch XP, and now kyonides added a feature where the game developer sets how many actual troop combinations must be beaten before combat finally ends.

If you are in the need of static battlers, rejoice!  The Art of Nemo is a collection of monsters which kyonides found at an Itch.io website. Quick to review, Mel took a look and was very much impressed. But do pay attention as there are both free collections as well as those needing payment.

If you are working on a light-hearted but action-packed science fiction game, then today you will find new themes to revel with the Original Music supplied by Eric Matyas. For some levity, he created a pair of melodies entitled "Coin-Op Low Rider". And by pair, I mean that one version is an extended track release. He continued on with his synth scores with another composition for his "Light Puzzles" series, and then composed "Dreaming of Puzzles" for those who want something uplifting and energetic. And lastly, Eric released  "Cyber Cruising" which would befit any game scene where the hero travels along the streets and highways of a neon city, and "Spaceman Spiff" a tribute to the sci-fi alter-egoes to Calvin and Hobbes.

  Art and Design
For those who wish something other than sand to walk upon, the crunch of leaves, or the hardness of cobblestone, The Massive Library of Free Images which Eric Matyas is working upon may have something you need. This week, he released two new ground textures, dark, rough and green.

Well, that's it for this week.

This week, we received a new community member named L0veRaven. A livestreamer,  L0veRaven has been a fan of relaxing farming sims and RM games like Harvest Moon and Animal crossing, and is thinking acquired RPGMaker XP with a bit of curiosity how hard it would be to learn some ruby-script coding.  DerVVulfman mentioned that anyone using any game editor would need to have some rudimentary skill in all of its features, and threw out that he made a crop-growing script for RPGMaker XP of his own. Along with that, kyonides volunteered that his KTimers script could come in handy. And after that, Remi-chan welcomed L0veRaven from one livestreamer to another.

Not the first, and not the most recent account, but we were greeted by TheLast joining our forum. A user of RPGMaker XP, he is also a tabletop gamer playing as a werewolf hunter who had some mixed feelings once seeing the forum's main administration lineup. DerVVulfman took to no offence, and was curious to find out what tabletop engine was played. Meanwhile, kyonides inquired if TheLast would read the last chapter of his work in the Biblioethica, and Remi-chan  assured TheLast that he could be as secretive as desired.

  General Chat
This week's News of the World did not focus upon the embarrassment of China over another submarine sinking in port, nor Germany's entire Green Party Leadership resigning over public opposition.  Instead, it was within the Middle East and Israel's fight on all fronts. Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel, followed not long after by the Houthis who have long attacked any vessels in the Red Sea. But Israel struck back, killing top leaders in Hezbollah, including Hassan Nasrallah who has orchestrated mass murder since the 1983 Beirut bombing that took over 200 US marines, joined Syrian civil war in 2011 and later atrocities against Sunni Muslims. And only just this Sunday, Israel launched a major strike against the Houthis in Yemen, destroying the terror groups infrastructure and means to receive weapons they receive from Iran. The media is refusing to remember the atrocities of Nasrallah,  the Associated Press not recalling the 1983 bombing while CNN's Jeremy Diamond calling on Israel to stop fighting back. And on each turn, the U.S's Antony Blinken asked Israel not to fight back, Biden keeps calling Israel to stand down, and so-defined progressives in the US congress like Illinois's Schakowsky wants to resume funding the UNRWA (United Nations Relief Welfare Agency for Palestinian Refugees) whom has strong ties to Palestine and Hamas. The war of aggression that Russia wages against Ukraine continues, Former President Trump originally not thrilled with all the funding going to Ukraine but now more understanding of the turmoil the nation has gone through after a meeting with Zelensky. And of Zelensky, Trump thanked Ukraine's president over said nothing transpired in the 2019 call Democrats used to kickstart their impeachment. Scandal hit the Big Apple as NY City's Mayor Adams is hit with a historic 57 page indictment, including conspiracy, wire fraud, solicitation with foreign nationals and bribery. While many Democrats now demand he stand down and resign, Washington state's Pramila Jayapal grumbled that Adams argued against Biden's immigration policy the same as Former President Trump. And of Illegal immigration in the U.S, its been revealed that in 2024 alone, the Biden/Harris administration released over 600,000 illegals into the U.S. despite felony charges ranging from rape, to child sex offences and murder despite federal laws prohibiting. But is Biden in charge? According to the press, Kamala Harris is distancing herself from Biden. But a video released this week reveals that Biden had indeed delegated all authority, both foreign and domestic to Harris, meaning she has been in charge of the U.S. all this time. The finances of Congress's Nancy Pelosi hit the spotlight as her husband's cashes in $1 million of Visa stock before a DOJ antitrust case mirrors that of last year when her husband knew to buy ast least $1 Million in Alphabet/Google stock just before a congressional stock trading ban was announced. Argentina's President Milei blasting the United Nations over their policies over Covid and their failed climate and globalistic agendas, Hamas gunmen kill an Aid/Relief worker in Gaza for refusing to turn over charity funds, UK's Labour party refuse Prime Minister Starmer’s plan to cut costs to retired pentsioner's heating bills, Shots fired at Kamala Harris's campaign office in Arizona being the second time in recent weeks, a migrant rapist suspected of killing a 19-year old French girl released from prison despite a prior deportation order, the passing of legendary actress Dame Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall of Harry Potter, Mother Superior of Sister Act, etc), and much more hit this week's news.

Recent information revealed that not all Chinese Hackers are working for the CCP, but in fact have been forced or tortured to reveal information. One Andy Li whom was arrested in Hong Kong under China's revised National Security Law was a volunteer on behalf of IPAC (Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China), and whose security was accessed by China itself while he is still in prison awaiting sentanceing. And as mentioned last week, Flax Typhoon has been busy creating bot-nets, and an estimated nine-thousand home and office internet-connected devices in Canada are expected to be infected with their malware content.

  Development Discussion
Early this week, kyonides asked others What's up and if a feature to switch between one enemy troop to another while in battle  at the developer's whim would be a good idea. DerVVulfman thought it might extend the battle, and suggested he keep track of all the gold and experience. While kyonides said it wasn't what DerVVulfman pictured, a later update of his work was exactly as DerVVulfman predicted, troop-changing extended battles. Meanwhile, Remi-chan finally got back to working on the rewrite to her Disk 0 Tutorial arc for her game, revising the introductory battle, and delivering a new cutscene for viewing with new cinematics. However, vocal work for the pre-recorded cinematic is not yet complete as Siletrea's vocals have not been added.

The dangers for the princess hoping to Restoring Falmay just increased.  Starmage just made things more uncertain for anyone playing her game by concealing the enemy's health while changing the battle system over from its previous active timer format. And Zithrel's slumber skill now lasts but half the time while taking longer to recharge. And though the RTP-using contest she entered Restoring Falmay in was cancelled, Starmage is still keeping the RTP feel of the game while still updating it with new fonts, graphics and a new title screen.

  Code Support
This week, Bennerdeben placed a request for a Skill that throws enemies, and by that an enemy could be targeted with an attack that could stun, and by chance that enemy could appear to connect with other enemies who could become just as hurt. He had tried working out a means to generate such a feature, but had difficulties working out a means to augment the scope targeting system.  Towards the end of the week, DerVVulfman showed up with a variation of what Bennerdeben looked for, a script that could deal damage to other enemies after the targeted foe was struck. But DerVVulfman did mention that applying a stun effect would be easy enough in the Skill database itself.

For those game developers that are mischief makers that love to put the player through hell, you may be interested in KEnemySwitch XP. Designed for RPGMaker XP by kyonides, it allows the game developer to switch out the enemy troops the party if facing in the middle of battle. Not only that, but after a few days, kyonides released an update where the game developer can set how many troops must be defeated before the batle truly ends.

It was a long time since his debut with "Everyone Turning Against You". But now he has returned and the DoubleX Music Room has a new composition entitled "Accepting Sadness", DoubleX's second published song utilizing 1BITDRAGON before he forgot the sombre melody that just played in his head.

If you needed some high-quality textures for your forest models, or a new tileable relief to go within your game, do recall the Massive Library of Free Images that Eric Matyas has available.  There are plenty of new tree bark textures in various degrees of coarseness and shading. And do not forget his now available Game Music Megapack.

Once more has a new piece of art entered Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing!, this time the flawed goddess of Remi-chan's gaming universe herself, Sacreblu.  She is set against a dark stellar backdrop for your viewing pleasure. And for the unaware, Sacreblu now has a new vocal actress doing her lines. She can be heard here and there within the Speed Draw video that Remi-chan provided.

A new page unfurls with legendary enemies of old coming to the aid of all within [HighlightRemi-chan's writing snippets[/Highlight]. But when the fate of the world depends on young heroes facing legion, even a villain of the past will unsheath sword to defend what and whom he will. But even as the tide turns, a force that cannot be challenged appears. And those present may lose the guiding light of their family.

Well, that's it for this week.

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Announcements and Updates
Early this week, DerVVulfman announced that the forum experienced some Minor Changes and There Were More to Come, initially showing off a couple new forum BBCodes that people could use. And then announced the then-pending removal of the star-rating system which no one ever seems to use. And after that, annoucned that the work on the RPG Maker Central archive was still ongoing, boasting over 330 scripts. This while the separation of the Ruby-based script threads for their individual engines boards continues.

General Chat
It appears the assassination attempts on Trump is still on the mind of some people, Remi-chan thinking the idea of killing any candidate during an election is moronic, and suggests dictatorial rule thereafter. She does have a preference between the current U.S. candidates running, not that she has much faith between the two, Is this giving her some new story ideas for her characters?

Early this week, the News of the World still talked about the would-be assassin of Former President Trump, that he was known by FBI, Interpol, worried Ukraine officials, and others, politicians worldwide appalled that it was attempted, and NPR (National Public Radio) worried such attempts may cause distrust with the mainstream media. Since then, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to boost protection to any Presidential candidates. But what hit the news was the surprise Pager attack in Lebanon against Hezbollah with 8 killed and nearly 3000 injured. It turned out the cell phones were all made in China, revealing a literal vulnerability in the supply chain. Whilst Hezbollah rockets responded by firing rockets into Capernaum, Israel responded with missile strikes hitting the launchers themselves. Iran's influence in the area continues to grow as Saudi Arabia's diplomat condemns both Iran and the Houthis and admonishes the Biden administration. This as Iran moves both Hamas and Houthis forces into Iraq The war between Ukraine and Russia continues as Putin demanded nearly 200,000 more troops added to his army. And while Zelensky works to get more munitions in the US while Ukraine continues the Kursk offensive and blows up another Russian Arm Depot, Russia strikes another civilian apartment complex. But Russia won't be satisfied, activating its nuclear submarine fleet, skirting U.S. airspace around Alaska, sending military planes to encircle Japan, and making the EU nervous about any upcoming offensive by Putin against allies. Human trafficking is still a worldwide issue, the EU expected to face 1 Million asylum applications, the UK hit with 10,000 illegal migrants crossing the channel since the Labour Party took control, Panama finding an uptake in Chinese migrant crossings, and a witness went before the U.S. Congress and blasted the Biden/Harris administration for intentional violating the Constitution and Federal Immigration Laws. Some countries are working to stem that as the Netherlands demands to opt out of EU's Mass Migration policies, followed by Hungary. And UK's Prime Minister is looking at Italy as a model, Italy leveling penalties on illegal trafficking and creating tougher asylum guidelines. Venezuelan's Tren de Aragua Gang labeled a Foreign Terrorist group by Texas Governor Abbott, A serial rapist out for 'good behavior thanks to Kamala Harris's Proposition 57 (not 47), a $100 Million bounty on Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, Mexico's President blaming the Biden Administration of igniting the Sinaloa Cartel Turf War, a Sword from Pharaoh Ramses II’s Army uncovered, the recovery of a stolen Winston Churchill painting in Italy, the family of the Blackfoot Nation's Chief (the face the Washington Redskins for 46 years) demanding it restored, and over forty other articles hit this week's news.

Tech Talk
This week's News of the Cyber World was focused on censorship, the so-titled EU Censorship Czar known for threatening Musk to censor the Musk/Trump live interview has now quit over how the EU is being governed. And was a man in Cuba was just sentenced to 30 months in prison for sharing anti-regime memes among his family. Vehicle issues hit the news, G.M. recalling nearly half a million cars manufactured in 2023 for faulty brake fluid indicators, and California firefighters found it needed 50,000 gallons (189,000 liters) of water and overhead fire retardant to put out a Tesla EV Big Rig Semi that was driving (ironically) to Sparks, Nevada. More headaches hit Google during its trial as internal documents showed hwo they made exclusivity deals to maintain their monopoly whilst charging 27% more than any other service. Facebook banning RT (Russia Today) and other sites known to peddle disinformation, the FTC commissioner warning the Biden-Harris Administration may target Conservative tech platforms, Lionsgate Pictures going AI despite the recent wave of anti-AI Hollywood strikes, the notorious Three-Mile-Island nuclear plant reopening, and more hit this week's news.

There has been a large amount of activity among Chinese Hackers, hackers breaking into engineering firms that work with energy, utility, private and aerospace. And then there are hackers formerly charged by the U.S government for espionage against NASA and the military services. And others charged alongside Russian entities for wire-fraud, conspiracy, identity theft and computer intrusion. And the U.S's FBI disrupted China's Flax Typhoon hacking group's attempt to create a bot net, the infection of multiple devices to create a hidden network for their use to target corporations and critical infrastructures nationwide.

Things slowed down for Remi-chan as she's been visiting the world of Azeroth, grinding her characters in World of Warcraft. But to ask her What's up in RMing, she is still working, updating and making concise the lines of dialogue within her game as two screenshots revealed.

It is the time of the renaissance of magic within the mystical fairy kingdom, but a threat to beauty and nature had surfaced, threatening to cover all the lands. Now it is time for Princess Claire to gather her courage in her attempt at Restoring Falmay. Starmage's entry into the MorteEternal's RPGMaker RTP Fantasy Jam with the challenge to use only the official RTP, she creates an imaginitve world of light that her heroine and friends must save everything from everlasting shadow.

Music and Audio
For those working upn a cyberpunk game, Eric Matyas released a new track within his Original Music and Sound FX thread. This week, "Cyberpunk Stories" makes an appearance. A highly energetic and kinetic work, Eric suggests it for title screens, though it may work for fairly active cutscenes. And do recall that Eric has higher-quality Ogg Music packs, he having recently released his Music Mega Pack containing over 1100 tracks of his video game music.

Remi-chan has other games under her belt, and others still being worked upon. And of those still being produced, she chose to release the Official Junked OST. Composed by TriaDev, or Triatic, Remi-chan released seven tracks from the game score, the first few of these revolving around her central characters, children who find themselves in a world so alien, only to discover the inescapable truth.

Art and Design
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Looking upon [Thread=8230]Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing, and you will find Remi somewhat indecisive. Two quickly drafted ideas for her next illustrative work are now visible, but she is unsure if to chose the full frontal that struck her fancy or the ambitious sideview angled pose.

Literature Section
This week, blast into Remi-chan's Writing Snippets~ as she reveals a portion of gaming universe is facing armageddon. Surely messing with arcane forces would not have drawbacks, or so someone thought. However, hand gestures and messing with the cosmic weave disrupted the orbits of Terra's moons, and it is up to the three heroic sisters of Fantasia to set things right.

Well, that's it for this week.

Minor Changes and Those to Come
Posted by: DerVVulfman - 09-17-2024, 04:51 AM - Forum: Announcements and Updates - Replies (2)

I'm not going to go into any super flourish in speaking this time.  And heck, the changes I am going to iitially reveal do not even require plug-ins or changes to the forum structure to be engaged.

Of upgrades, we now have a Shadow text bbcode as you can see.   The color of the shadow is a medium-light gray by default, but can be altered to suit your tastes.  I decided to use red here for effect.

Also, we have a Glow text bbcode as another upgrade.  As drab as it sounds, the glow effect is normally a gradiated gray around the text, but green looks so much better.

Of course, you can have fun with these  Effects by mix-n-matching bbcodes.  And don't forget that we do have a list of the bbcodes in the top menu bar.

As towards later...

DOES ANYONE EVEN USE THE STAR RATING??? [Image: 2stars.gif]

A product of the past when people actually did rate topics within forums, the rating system that accompanies forum software is a bit dated.  And thankfully, the software we are using makes it easy to just turn off.

Well, easy to turn off per forum board anyway.  I'll have to edit every forum we have just to flip a switch. Laughing + Tongue sticking out  But it is do-able and makes sense since no one really puts them to use anymore.  Not much of an upgrade, but more an update.

[Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif]

Will we be returning some features by way of plug-ins?  Of course.  I am currently exploring a catalogue of plug-ins to replace those that were lost, aged and became incompatible, or sadly damaged.

To be honest, some of the features we had employed in the past were generally worthless.  Unfortunately, some of the features we had lost due to age do not have updated or variants by other designers as replacements. It will be a time consuming and long process, but the Save-Point name has been in existence for nearly fifteen years.

[Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif]

The RPG Maker Central archive is still building, now having over 330 scripts uploaded and saved. However, that may only account for 17% of the total number being saved. And then it doesn't even address the resources saved that needs to be restored.

[Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif] [Image: minion.gif]

And the separation of RPGMaker XP, VX, VXAce and MV scripts within the forum's own Scripts Database is still continuing with less than 100 scripts remaining to be divided by the original posters. The number was clearly much larger. But the scripts and plugins have their original poster present and will be done in due time.
