Doing a few rewrites to the ABS. The treasure drop system was okay, but I didn't feel it was up to my usual standard. And... at times... the treasure items didn't properly work with the viewport. *sigh* I rewrote it though, and got it working better. The config section got rewritten too.
But, now I have two more tasks to accomplish with it: 1) Retooling the 'barriers' skill in a similar fashion and adding a custom 'motion' system, and 2) a gore effect... possibly blood splatter, body parts flying or a cell animation ragdoll system. Maybe all three???

nothing. absolutely nothing. not touching a single thing til december. ::exhausted::
what do you all do when you take a break from working on your games? i go for long walks in the woods, try to get lost and find the blair witch or something. i usually just need to get out and 'live some' to get my creative batteries recharged. there have been so many times where i wont be working on a project, go out and see or read something, and think about how it would work in my game.

I think I touched up the last of the Treasure Drop system in the ABS. Seriously... in ABS systems, this one rocks. You get options to have a single object appear that has all the treasure after the enemy dies, or individual items scatter about. They can jump out, or drop from the sky like the way the treasure drops in Diablo. Of course, you can still leave dead bodies behind or use the default treasure system. And the leftover treasure can be animated since I'm still using charsets.
I made a few charsets for animated treasure drops now.
Spent some time working on the ABS's barrier section again. Got it to move from the caster when generated and hit the targets... finally.
Messing with MOVE_ROUTE was a pain. But not too keen how I did it so I may perform a rewrite of the drawn barrier objects.
Yeaah... That may take some time, but I think I can get the barrier's damage system to work out better.

I am currently working on multiple RM-related things right now.
I have been working on an Untitled game. Kind of winging it as I go. Still trying to figure out the direction of the story I want to go in to make sure it is interesting, yet fun, yet original, yet familiar.
I have been learning ruby/rgss as I go. As much as I want to learn more, its tough to stay focused on learning.
Mapping has been a huge thing I have been looking up recently as I wanted to make sure that the maps in said untitled game were decent looking maps. After redoing the first two towns, I am pleased with how they came out.
I got a copy of FL studio and wanted to experiment in creating my own music for the game but learning how to start has been something that I just haven't focused on.
So pretty much I need to focus on one thing but eh...I like to pretend to multi-task. =)

finally picking up my game again after an extended break.... and the best thing i came up with is the Legend Of Barnacles!
Once upon a time, there was a big scary Lionfish that got a thorn stuck in his flipper. With a mighty roar, he called all the strongest fish to try and pull it out,l but nobody was strong enough. So, they got Barnacles, and BINGO! The lionfish was so grateful that he gave Barnacles this...big thing... of riches. Now every clam and barnacle knows the story of Barnacles, and aspires to his likeness, and every fisherman the thrill of hooking the mighty mollusk.

I moved to a new apartment, so I didn't have much time for scripting lately, and I don't have internet yet. Sorry for not being active lately...

I got robbed at work today and its really putting me off. The getting robbed thing isn't whats bothering me, its just that the person doing it looked like a good kid in a bad situation. What I mean is, well, you expect whoever you get robbed by be a hardened criminal or some kind of nasty dope fiend, this dude didn't look like either. That doesn't change the fact that the punishment should fit the crime and I hope he gets caught, but I also hope that he can piece together his life when he gets released. People say I'm too calm about the whole situation, but the fact is after years of cashiering you kind of expect it one day so... :(
I can't sleep and have been trying to do something, anything, constructive. One thing I'm thinking of, especially since descriptions are always so vague, is to do a composite sketch of him... or maybe even a colored faceset? If I did the latter I'd be killing more than a couple birds with the same stone. I'm going to attempt it but idk if I have it in me at the moment, I've been in a creative slump for the first week of December :/

Uni. stuff. I won't bog you down with the woes of it all, but I will show you all a picture of a smiling cat.
It keeps me happy. Makes me wish I'd had a pet during my childhood, though. : (
