Been working on a revised AUDIO system that handles multiple channels. If you play a BGS file and you want to play another, the first one is cut off and discontinued. Mine... lets you play both simultanously. Heck, you could play 3 or more at the same time now. Multiple channels.

I made an editor so you can make looping points in both BGM and BGS, modeled after Cogwheel's system. Nice one too. Displays a millisecond counter and has a pause/resume feature. The system isn't keen on Ogg-Vorbis, but I kinda knew that from the start. I made sure the editor won't let you adjust/alter the start position of Ogg Vorbis audio files. Ogg Vorbis doesn't like you to alter 'em. I don't know why, but changing where you start playing an Ogg file also changes where they loop in some odd way. It's funky.

No luck finding DirectSound/DirectX code for RGSS. Last person to search (records found) was in 2009? Guess I'm not alone. LilyKnight even did a search for me on that subject.

BUT.... I got the mcisendstring code that makes the music start playing the moment it starts loading the file. Yep, it's streaming the music now. It's not waiting for the whole file to load and THEN start playing. Ye delay is over.

Hey, guys? Wanna have your RMXP game play music straight from the CD tracks? I got a little bit of code that opens and plays from my F: CD drive. ^_^ Now I gotta figure out how to have it tell which drive(s) are valid CD players... It's only preliminary as I gotta make sure it turns the music off when I exit too. Dang CD player kept playing. :P

Whoopsie.

The editor, when saving, needs a little more tweak. Creates a case-else block without any content causing a problem on saved data.

Meanwhile, I'm dropping the idea of CD Audio from the module. *sigh* It's not that I couldn't get it to find my CD in the drive (and I have two drives to search), nor that I couldn't get it to play (cause I did), but that control was haphazard at best. Not as fast as actual file content, and if you exited RMXP by using a task manager or clicking the 'x' in the top-right window, the CD player would still be playing.

Translation: I to you recommend to [skachat] [shanson] free of charge, also, without the registration.

Gonna check (after work) to make sure it's a game engine and not some advert.

EDIT: It's not even REMOTELY CONNECTED to RPGMaker or any game engine. Advert!!!

Well, I guess I have become a producer more than a game maker now... all I can report is that I just paid 60$ for having the GUI of Hartacon XNA made...
And I still don't have the spriter... >:(

Tested the HM7 engine in RMVX Ace : it's so laggy I doubt that I'll ever release an importer tool.

MGC the dedication man hours you put into your work is amazing, you've taken mode 7 to a higher level!

Just to be bold, I opened all 115+ tracks from my OST at once and am using MAGIX Music Editor to remaster them all. The biggest issue I've had over the years of composing is inconsistent volume, or the occasionally piercing high notes or whatever else random little stuff makes good tracks bad. However, this editor software allows me to adjust these volume and screeching spikes and whatnot and regulate shit like a true boss! I recommend this to anybody who is finishing up their OST, use this software as the crucial final step of polishing things up.

I've looped my entire game soundtrack through the editor twice, fixed some shit up, deleted a couple of tracks that weren't worth rescuing, fixed volume and sanity levels on ever last one of them and, yeah, pretty satisfied with the results. Actually, right now I'm playing every track from A to Z one last time and everything sounds absolutely perfect! I'm no longer finding myself turning up the volume for a less audible tracks and cringing in surprise when the occasional loud boomer comes up.

So yeah, MAGIX Music Maker MX Premium is what I downloaded and the free editor software that it comes with is bad ass! I'm not sure if you can get it on its own but I got it with the Maker and its worth it.

A point on mastering:
You're better off making a good mix first. A good mix doesn't have volume spikes and only needs mastering to polish it off. Once you have a good mix, reduce the volume you render the music at by 6db, then master that .wav file up to normal levels. This way you're preserving the quality of your mix and leaving enough head room for some dynamics + mastering.
This is a big part of avoiding saturation, which lots of beginners tend to miss.

Sorry, I know it's off topic, but it's in response to Kain. :)

I received 3 hud proposals from the guy I hired (talking about Hartacon of course). Pretty good stuff! I'm deciding for a mix between 2. I'll post the result as soon as I get it.
