(November 18 to November 24, 2024)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Announcements and Updates
DerVVulfman has been keeping members abreast with the Forum Updates Happening, particularly with his continuous work on the RPG Maker Central archives. His current foray has been dealing with a subforum within for a poster named GrannyDeb, though one thread alone took three day to compile and recreate while the second was a full 9-to-5 job. He states that one remaining GrannyDeb topic still exists so he can move on to other content. But that was not all he worked upon. He also reworked the permissions for guests, and for those accounts that had not finished their full registration procedures, and he had returned the 'Support Graphics' option within the top menu.

Occasions
With pains, the forum announced The Passing of BeJeremiah, a member who joined our community in 2015. Revealed by his brother, Jerit passed away on the 14th of November. And as our own Mel could confirm, he continously wished to help others day in and day out. His funeral was this past Friday.

After using RPGMaker 2003 and XP for a couple of years, PoryKid575 came in and said 'hi' to everyone. After an inquiry by DerVVulfman, PoryKid575 replied he had a few gameplay focused concepts more than anything. But does have a complete game and has plans to make other games within the same world.

After roughly twenty years, aabb821 bought a copy of RPGMaker XP and returned to the game development community. Surprised to find that Creation Asylum had vanished, aabb821 appeared here and was greeted by DerVVulfman and Zeriab and learned that our forum had archived some of Asylum's works and that a replacement for the RMXP's game engine was around.

General Chat
After finding one of his Steam Wishlist items delisted, AVGB-KBGaming wondered What happened to Kain Vinosec?. An excellent musician, DerVVulfman found that Kain was still active on Youtube even as recent as the same day he looked, and passed that information on to AVGB. Since then, AVGB found that Kain had a long more links than expected.

Conflicts around the globe was the News of the World, be it Russia's launch of an actual ICBM at Ukraine while simultaneously threatening the US despite Russia's aggression was seen world-wide and South Korea had confirmed North Korea sending forces to fight alongside Putin's troops. In the Middle East, it has been confirmed that Israel indeed destroyed a component of Tehran’s nuclear program while degrading its defense and missile production capabilities, and likewise killed the head of the rocket unit of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group backed by Iran. Unknown is the stance of Hezbolllah, striking United Nation troop locations twice with rocketfire and then wishing to have a ceasefire agreement worked out. Yet, Israel refuses to give up their right to strike back if ever attacked, and Hezbollah has het to honor the 2006 UN Resolution to disarm and pull out of Southern Lebanon. And both Russia and Iran question the actions of President Biden, suggesting the US President's actions are intentionally making it more difficult for the upcoming Trump Presidency, sanctioning Israel and giving money to Palestine while finally giving Ukraine sanction for long-range missile attacks against Russia. The new choice for Trump's Attorney General, Canada's Trudeau approving the arrest of Israel's president and more hit this week's news.

Development Discussion
One of our members is revealing What's up to other RMers in how he's been working on an XCOM like project entitled "Budget Brigade" Charlie Fleed returned to showcase a playtest video of his game developed in Unity, a tactical turn-based combat system that has very high marks, though isn't currently well known.

Code Support
FriKitty asked for some help in developing an RPGMaker MV plug-in for Image transitions, that is to say scene transitions that used three separate transition images that worked in sequence. It was his first request, and one that he asked in multiple sites to increase his chance of getting assisstance. As it stands, assistance did appear and he was able to craft something that worked as he desired, though not as he expected.

For JayRay, his request was for an RPGMaker MV Plugin or Script altering the Item menu, SKill menu, and Equip menu so it doesn't bring up the 'party window' and the item (or like) is automatically applied to the party leader. After DerVVulfman asked him to go into more detail, JayRay explained it would involve the default menus which would merely eliminate the party member selection option.

JayRay was having issues with screenshot plugins for his RPGMaker MV project trying to get it to simultaneously Trim the generated Snapshot, one of the plugins appearing to be basic while the other required an RPGMaker MZ plugin to grant him the ability to trim the image as desired. DerVVulfman found a copy of the MZ plugin and uploaded it. In response, JayRay said he would try the new MZ plugin within a test-bed project though he seems to be still having some issues.

Script Requests
This week, aabb821 asked for a script that allowed Weapons or Equipment to grants skills. DerVVulfman first thought about his Equipment Sets script, something that surprised aabb821 about how expansive it was. But aabb821 chose to use a script by Makeamidget. Still, there was some difficulty with the script, aabb821 not realizing until reminded after twenty-years of inactivity that new scripts such as his would require fresh games as his old save-game file didn't work.

Music and Audio
If you need some custom work, do not forget that Eric Matyas has been Sharing His Original Music and Sound FX for years, and recenly created a page within his music board that briefly touches upon some of his clients. But that is not all that he had done this week. For those that enjoy his low-fidelity remixes, Eric recreated two of his horror tracks in that medium. The lo-fi version of last year's "Night Stalker 2" still sounds still fits for scenes where one may be venturing through an empty alley or an abandoned underground steam tunnel. And 2022's Fortress of Doom's quiet yet brisk percussion beneath the muted bells and brass would make anyone feel at ease.

Working within his new field as a composer, three new works have now been released within DoubleX's Music Room. Composed just as the week began was "Lost Forever" with a melody that just came to him, a melody that befits someone gazing away as they wonder what the future may bring and if has hopes it may be for something better than what they now have. "Endless Darkness" is one of his self-described primitive melody pieces, one that appears quiet at first but slowly begins to build. And beginning with tinkling bells accenting synthetic flutes, "Broken Hearts" is a piece with both melancholy and a faint promise of resolve.

Art and Design
As word goes out across the vastness of the web of her latest portait, those with an astute love of beauty and raw power would wish to venture into Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing! Her ashen violet vestments almost concealing much of her against the starry midnight background, the kitsune is still a sight as her raw power illuminates all that is around. The Court Magician of the Nine-Tails Palace is truly a vision to behold.

Well, that's it for this week.
