First off... that script I said yesterday would be the hard one to translate and work upon? Well, I just spent 10 hours translating all the content, repeatedly testing the "Element Tagging" that was originally in Japanese to ensure everything functioned, and REPAIRED STUFF!!!!!
One of the features was to allow for the prevention of selected skills from being usable unless the caster was blessed with (or inflicted with) a defined status effect. Indeed, the original script author intended for developers to do things like... "You can only cast ICE if you are inflicted with VENOM state." ... which does sound weird. But after some investigation in this 1000 line monstrosity from 2006, I found the issue and fixed it.
...
I'm calling it a night ...
This is very relevant to my interests (the script, not you dying!)

MORE and MORE software translating from a Japanese site that has been gone roughly two decades. I won't go into any other details other than I was on a roll translating SIX SCRIPTS today. I was on a ROLL. I just hope I'm passed all the element tagging scripts. UGH!!!

The first script of today to translate into English from Japanese from the decades old site was WORSE than a headache. The manner in which it suggested defining elements in the database was... "OKAY, ARE YOU HAVING SPACES BETWEEN ARGUMENTS OR NOT? WAIT, SPACES BETWEEN SOME BUT NOT ALL? THE HECK? WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL?"
Yeah, not everything was ergonomic in design and the instructions didn't make it clear.
Once I realized what the authorsssss PLURAL did... (yeah, one scripter driving me nuts wasn't enough... it took three)... then I got the rest of the beta-testing of the scripts AND the translation done. WITH BETTER INSTRUCTIONS!
Oh, and did I mention it had four child scripts? The ABOMINATION HAD OFFSPRING (or is that AWFULSpring?). Fortunately smaller, and thus didn't cause me as much headache. But I would say 80% of the 8 hours marathon was one abhorrence.
And with that, I've translated 40 of the scripts from this site. Don't ask how many are left. But I'm making good headway.

I nominate "oofspring" as another term.
On my end, I finally finished the eventing for the desert segment's final boss and cutscene.
Now begins the annoying playtesting, reviewing, spell-checking, adjusting, and adding post-quest dialogue for all NPCs in all the desert towns. I started this quest line back in March and now I am nearing the end. Playtime based on the first test run is estimated at 6.5 hours for this whole section. Can't wait to move on to the next quest.
I thought I was going to have an easy time with a script that was NOT involved in element tagging.
So I chose a message system. I mean, how bad could it be?
Err....
Well, it turned out that it wanted to have as detailed as Dubealex's message system.... so OUCH.
And it has four OOFSPRINGS!!!
On the interesting side, one of the oofsprings appears to be a prototype SFONTS system. That being a feature that can use a single bitmap that contains special characters which shows in the message window.
Rather than using TTF fonts like Arial or an oddly unknown font that might not be installed on someone else's computer, an SFont can be cached and part of the game and thus packaged with the game. Sadly, this is a prototype version and not complete... each character having to be entered one at a time with command codes. Cest la vie.
But it is midnight and I only cracked the feature that offered special bitmap characters in the first OOFSPRING.
Tomorro---- (I guess it is tomorrrow since its past midnight)....
In the waking hours of the morning, I begin anew.

Custom fonts! Would be neat to be able to use comics-style fonts without bundling the files and asking the player to install them. (Particularly as that could violate license if the font was paid for)

Screenie of its use:
Now its NOT the same as SFonts. It doesn't take the word "DRACULA" and read from a file and replace the text with the bitmaps as SFonts would. It requires me to use \e[4]\e[18]\e[1] ..... and so on to snag a character from an alphabet bitmap file.
But it IS giving me ideas. Still, those ideas must come later. And would certainly be beneficial.

Apropos of nothing, today I learned that the most common wold map tileset used back then the old RM2K scene was a modified rip from Rudras no Hiduou AKA Treasure of the Rudras, a Japan-only Super Famicom/Nintendo game. There's the tileset:
