(November 11 to November 17, 2024)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette!  Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
  General Chat
Much news hit the News of the World following Donald Trump's 2024 Election win, he already working to build his cabinet and fill roles. But in reaction, top Brass in the Pentagon are scrambling to remove traces of DEI, a Pennsylvania county violates their state's supreme court to count inelligible/invalid ballots, and and a North Carolina Democrat in Congress is calling to undermine Trump's presidency. Regarding the Middle East and recent conflicts, it was recently revealed that the Anti-Semetic attacks in Amsterdam were partially organized by a former UNRWA teacher, his Facebook profile only recently altered to remove his affiliation. Iran's national newspaper brandished threats against Trump over the death of Soleimani, the General who led Iran's terrorist proxies. And news broke out that Israel's recent attacks in Iran destroyed active nuclear weapons research facility. A California teacher's rage over a student wearing a Trump T-Shirt, the illegal alien who attacked police with an AR-15 back on the streets in New York, the Family of Malcolm X suing the FBI, CIA and NYPD over his assassination, and more hit this week's news.

  Tech Talk
Censorship became a big topic with the News of the Cyber World as Brendan Carr, a lawyer for the FCC, demanded the disbanding of a censorship cartel run by Big Tech's Google, Facebook and Apple and fact checking groups such as NewsGuard which offer a solely one-sided narrative. Simultaneously, Google has been blasted by multiple judges for destroying evidence in their multiple Anti-Trust cases, these incidents too being added to Google's compounding lawsuits. But despite the war against censorship, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck now demands even more censorship, targeting Elon Musk despite the fact Musk revealed the Twitter files that revealed rampant censorship just before. For Musk and Tesla, it has been rather strained as a cracked gas line within their Austin Tesla plant forced an evacuation. The line shut off, what caused the gas line to crack is under investigation. Biden's FBI raiding the home of an online Gambling Platform that predicted Trump's 2024 Presidential win being labeled a political hit-job, the former Shark Tank who slurred conservative women as weak just days before the 2024 Election now  deleting all of his pro-Kamala Harris tweets, the Co-CEO to Sam Bankman-Fried's bankrupted FTX forfeiting $70 Million dollars to recuperate debtors and shareholders, and much more hit this week's cybernews.

Games Development
  Development Discussion
While she admits she didn't have much to present of her own work, asking Remi-chan "What's up,  you RMer?" would bring up the new character set artwork supplied by her artist, Xiie.  And with the new work, Remi had to show off multiple screens of the character in action. But be aware that another sprite is underway.

  General Support
As she is getting back into RPG game making, parawixlia has been encountering a BGM loop delay in RMXP with some MP3 tracks, and wondered if anyone else encountered the issue or had developed a fix. DerVVulfman replied he didn't have an issue, but thought that it could be based on the way her music files were recorded. Even then, he still suggested that parawixlia may not have the issue if her music was converted to Ogg Vorbis format.  The Ogg format didn't change anything, but parawixlia stated that using ..wav format solved her problem.

  Code Support
Work continued on Tepe's request for an updated Fog of War script, DerVVulfman adding new features, adding in new conditions to cut down on the amount of lag, and adding new features. Tepe made some suggestions, but DerVVulfman found the suggested changes ineffectual, or even problematic. He posted a few videos, including a back-to-back comparison of Tepe's version and DerVV's edition with the FPS display turned on. Seeing such, Tepe may now believe that his lag may be caused elsewhere.

  RPGMaker XP (RGSS) Engine
Per a request and discussion elsewhere within the forum, DerVVulfman released Wachunga's Fog of War - Enhanced Edition, a release of the original 2005 classic script that brought the RTS visibility fog into the RPGMaker world, DerVVulfman added the ability to have NPCs eliminate the fog as part of the request, and so much more.

As part of a request given to him, kyonides coded the WindowSkins XP system, a menu system where the player could select the windowskin of preference at game start.

  Resources Database
  2D Resources
You may have heard that DDR mini-games have been created within the RPGMaker engine. If you hadn't, JayRay had. And for that, he searched for and presented JulioCacko's Input Prompt pack. Now, developers have access to a multitude of icons or glyphs for input prompts and buttons for use in their games, and in a multitude of styles.

Creativity Section
  Music and Audio
If your game is set within a realm of science fiction and needs a touch of grunge, then look no further than to the Original Music and Sound FX being provided by Eric Matyas.  It was this past Summer that he composed pieces such as "Sewer Creepers Down the Drain" and "Death Canyon". But with his recent low-fidelity remasters, the scores have a new and gritty edge to them. Meanwhile, Eric is pleased to report that more people are accessing his Ogg Game Music Packs than expected.

  Art and Design
If you want a bit of a smile, be sure to check out the renders of the CRAZY WILD OUTLAW WOLF!.  A bit silly in her own opinion, but Solitaire felt like displaying a few of her comical renders of a werewolf dealing with day-to-day activities as any other.  However, her time may have become limited as Steam just shut down all service to Windows 8 systems such as her's, and that controls her access to RPGMaker.  She has since received well wishes from Remi-chan who reminded her that, no matter what edition, she did pay for a legitimate RPGMaker XP license.

For those interested in having a green thumb, do recall that Eric Matyas is Building a Massive Library of Free Images, most of his recent uploads of a verdant variety, whether it be his land textures or what may be heavy brickwork covered in so much lush moss that the mortar pattern is barely seen. However, he did include a desert sand texture for those needing an arid dune-like vista.

This week, two separate portraits were put on display within Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing! The first was that of the Eldrich Mortician, yet presenting a deceptively innocent smile. And the second a re-occurring game character being an angelic entity brandishing her divine weapon. Of course, Remi-chan released a speed-draw along with her work.

  Literature
For those who have been invested with the fantasy gaming universe she created, [Thread=8405 Remi-chan's Writing Snippets~ [/Highlight][/Thread] bestowed revelations upon its creation. Characters that have been defined within games of her past and characters who only just appeared within her recent works, their genesis is now revealed.

  Filmography
If you poke your head into the darkened chamber of Remi-chan's Cinematic Theatre, a projection of her recent Starchaser production may be seen, a documentary of Remi-chan's recognition in the art world. But it was by her portfolio of work that attracted the attention of those who sought her out, and not the art degree that many cared not.

Well, that's it for this week.
