Put a copy in your game's root folder with the Game.Exe. You don't need to have it in a special C:\Windows\blah blah folder if it's in with the Game.Exe.
That's what I did. Tested on a RMXP free system.

Yes, that's what I did.
In other news I was running a complete hard drive search (once I worked out how to on 7) and ... oh god I found them.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
100J, 102E/J, 103J, and 104E/J. Six DLLs all there. ahahaha i was looking in the wrong places because i have a 64-bit oh god dssdgdfgdf
I really hate it when I spend ages searching/fixing something and then it becomes obvious and I wonder how I can ever say I'm good at computers or RM. *flail*
