I personally like doing my sprites from scratch and while battle sprites are much better left to being custom, I needed a way of speeding up character walk/run sprites so I decided to work on a base.
standard size is 36x70 for each character.
And I'll redo my Goku sprite once I complete the walk cycles.
Everything is 2x zoom just so everything is easy to see.
Will update probably a few times a week.

PC has been in a storage unit for awhile, was nice to start doing pixel art again :)

Not bad. I like it. I do like how it's larger than the classic RTP style, almost Kaiserish.
It's a bit different that your template has shading on one side of the body. Most times, the sprites assume lighting is from directly overtop with the traditional 60-degree orthographic perspective.
I read a book. Even the sprites from the HKCP (Half Kaiser Community Project) rendered shading equally on all sides, assuming that lighting was directly overhead.
Granted, I do understand that your shading is accurate with the shaded tiles accompanying the RPGMaker RTP itself, shading on the right side.
Would all the clothing and accessories accompanying include the shading?

Basically whenever I sprite I generally will choose a light source and most anime and rpgs generally will choose the right side for shadows so the left side granted is almost always mirrored from the right side because of time I would honestly keep shading simple on the left side (facing).
But yea, all cloths would follow this but again would be up to the person who'd use this.
