Funny thing. It reminds me of the Big Band piece of music called "Let's Dance" (Track 8) in the Blood: The Last Vampire OST. Oh, and I heard "Let's Dance" in other works...

RUINS ON RIGEL definitely fits the description you suggested for 'off-world archaeologists'. I think I heard similar to Sci-Fi anime that was released in the late 80s by Streamline Pictures.
