Poccil's Tilemap Rewrite
Version: 1.3

The Re-Envisioned Game Set

Introduction
This script is a replacement for the default code within the RPGMaker engine that generates the visible map within your game. Just as the default tilemap system, it uses the tilesets applied to your maps.

As a script, it still renders the map slower than the default system. But it works with screen resolution scripts  that increase/decrease the screen size and may work with other scripts that work with the tilemap.

Features
  • Automatically adjusts based on the viewport's dimensions
  • Adaptable

Screenshots
None.

Instructions
Plenty, and in the script.

FAQ
Made in conjunction with Screen Size for RMXP and Poccil's Map Zoom.

I was looking for a Tilemap script that could be adapted with a Zoom Map script... any zoom map script.  And this one was the most complete that could cover all three map layers and properly worked with tilemap priorities.

The original script can be found in the 3rd post of (THIS) thread.

Compatibility
Designed for RPGMaker XP.  RUBY 2.7 Compliant

Credits and Thanks
Thanks to Poccil for the creation of the original tilemap script, and thanks to Mel of Save-Point.Org for noticing a priority layering issue

Terms and Conditions
Free for use, even in commercial products. However, due credit to myself, Poccil and Mel is a necessity.

Thanks to Mel, a minor visual issue that priority-tagged tiles was discovered. That is, certain tiles that were defined so as to appear atop the player were twice drawn. For priority-tagged tiles that were translucent and would act as shading, this was an issue as the error involving twice-drawn tiles were extremely evident.

It was an unintended and unforeseen issue related to the demo's accompanying map zoom script, as the section of code that caused the issue was an adaption added into another Hidden-Class Tilemap script to allow map zoom to function. Found not to even be needed, the code that twice-drew the priority tile has now been removed.

To version 1.2

A second update was made today, this time fixing an issue involving tiles that had a priority star rating of 5. The tiles had a faint overlap upon them, making their their existence as tile blatant. While using the Zoom Map script, there may be a subtle separation between tiles visible as the map is increasing or decreasing in scale. Unavoidable, but the main issue involving the Priority 5 tiles has been repaired.

Someone told me that the checkerboard pattern taken care of within version 1.2 for RPGMaker XP users still existed for users of kyonides's HiddenChest executable. I believe that it involves the way HiddenChest handles the actual Sprite class (not RPG::Sprite). In fact, I would suggest that HiddenChest's handling of sprites is an improvement of RPGMaker XP's.

The issue involves a necessary minor increase in zoom applied to priority flagged tiles. Without the increase, zoomed tiles may appear spaced apart upon completion. However, the increase in zoom is not required as much with users of HiddenChest.

As a result, I added one more configurable value that lets one adjust the zoom increase. And the instructions for that value suggests default values for both default RPGMaker XP and HiddenChest.
