Unfortunately, it requires you to have configured trees per actor. So with having 17 different actors, you would need 17 different trees... one for each actor (at minimum). That is how it works.
My game allows for 16 different character types to choose from, so I got the same situation as you.

hmm... well the problem is when i try to call the selector from choosing new game... it throws an error at line 773 in this script.
line 773 no method error undefined method size for nil:NilClass So i fixed the error on my end. i simply had to build a tree for each actor, as DVV said... i'm dumb, lol. anyways, works great with the selector, and i'm happy. so, solved.

sorry for bumping this topic after a long time, but I found a bug when play demo : I go to database and change Aluxes's class to Lancer, same with Basil, then I play demo, now Aluxes and Basil have "Heal" in their skill window, after that I open Basil's skill tree, then spend 4 skill points to upgrade "Heal" to "Greater Remedy", now Basil have "Great Remedy" in his skill window, but when I go to Aluxes's skill window, he also have "Greater Remedy".
And I have a request for author : would you mind changing this skill tree script working for each class instead of working for each actor ? . Ex : an actor have class swordman will have skill tree swordman, when that actor change class to lancer, he will have skill tree lancer, and not have a bug that happen when two actors have same class like I said above.

I adapted MicKo's original, but didn't write it. Afraid your request to change it from class specific to actor specific won't fix your issue.
The skill upgrades are not class specific, but general to the skill itself. Upgrading a skill changes the skill regardless of what class or classes it belongs. So if the HEAL skill is available to both the Fighter and Lancer classes and you upgrade your Fighter 's healing skill, it will be upgraded for your Lancer and Cleric class (hellooooo Gloria). And it would be upgraded for any enemy using it too. I wasn't aware of this, and will add this in the main post. Thank you.

this script is fantastic just what I needed for my game but unfortunately I come across a problem my game uses keypad doors I do this by renaming a character and if the name entered is the correct one the door opens but this makes the skill tree script crash
should I of posted this here or code support?

You may be interested in knowing another thread has a revised version of this system which may give you less problems. However, I am (completely) unfamiliar with the FPLE system that MGC made (great though it may be).

Sorry for my weakness ...lol where is the download for this script. I'm trying to use it to balance my own Game im designing. Does this script have the ability to run independently from any "RPG makers" ?

In the first page of the post, you will see the heading of "DEMO", where the box.com link for the Skill Tree demo will appear.
The skill tree system is not designed as a design tool, but an alternate method where an actor learns new skills, much like the skill tree system in Diablo II. When you earn enough tree points, you can choose a new skill within the skill tree just so long as the desired skill is active for you to select. Or the skill could be leveled/increased if properly configured. And no, it is strictly for RPGMaker XP. |
