You can press F4 in the editor on any layer to deactive the dimming effect.
If you want to get the full map with events as an image there is an export tool
Just some screenies I took after getting some long overdue implementation of resources i received anywhere from not-so-recently to very recently into the game.

Haha the little alien guy in the desert totally reminds me of an area in this game I used to love when I was younger:
Because... They're aliens... IN THE DESERT!
...Okay, on second thought I guess they don't have that many things in common...

BUT STILL, COOL DESERT-ALIEN-MAN!
Lel, they are Goblins.
'Alien' doesn't have much meaning in my universe where it's full of space faring civilizations. There's one character in particular who always finds it amusing when people call her an alien.
This also all takes place in a bubble of air near the center of the Bermuda triangle that they were teleported to by jumping through a big mechnical triangular gateway with a large round aperture that a hyper-intelligent kangaroo set up for them.
but speaking of screenshots, I was listening to the ambience in my game in the background as i was alt tabbed and came back to this and decided to just take a quick recording because outside of the fox appearing and disappearing behind the teleporter this is really atmospheric a map.
I am still working on the help file for my Layered Spritesheet Tool... as you can see below:
It isn't small, is it?
I do get a bit long winded, but I am now covering how one creates a resource pack.... a set of resources for a given art style or item. So if someone was interested in crafting and releasing a complete characterset resource pack based upon ChronoTrigger-like sprites, this section I am working on will hopefully teach one the foundations.
And no, you are not mistaken. There is a info-window (in a nice light apricot) that talks about the now-extinct Half Kaiser Construction Project of 2008. I felt a little history lesson was warranted. And indeed, the url visible at the very bottom is a "Wayback Machine" link. And no-less an active link which the reader CAN click and open a new window to access the HKCP's main post one day after it was created.
I spent hours fleshing this section out, trying to explain why a developer needs to use specific folders, file names... etc. But this is just the 1st chapter. FUN stuff coming up next.
Up is down, left is right and sideways is straight ahead. - Cord "Circle of Iron", 1978 (written by Bruce Lee and James Coburn... really...)
Well, I finally have the Just Starting chapter written for those who need a little help in acclimating to the tool.
One chapter, but a lengthy one broken down into steps. Hotlinks to other chapters exit, but only if someone wants to expand their knowledge beyond the basics. But the dialogue in the Just Starting chapter is more relaxed.
I do have one more chapter to write, one about the minor ability to customize the tool and give it a different color scheme. I am pondering if I should include the .... laughable... HELLO KITTY skin. I just may use it as an example in the chapter.

Damn! I'm 0 for 2 with misidentifying other-worldly beings this week.
First my friend's character, and now this. Siigh.

The map looks really great! Looks like a nice rest stop in-between the action.
