So I bet you were wondering what you were going to do this summer... How to pass the time during those sweaty heat waves (or freezing, rainy days if you're in the UK). Well, well! My friends! I have... THE SOLUTION!

The Epic Trans-forum Game Making Contest of Dooom!
1st August - 28th August.

Up For Grabs!
A full minute of original music made by yours truly: The Metal Fox! (http://youtube.com/metalrenardmusic if you want to hear my stuff).
That's worth $75 and 5-8 hours of my time, so it's quite a big prize! If you're in a team then each member gets a jingle/mini theme tune (so a minute split between all of you)!
Commercial use included!

The Competitors
The goal of this competition is not to put one forum against another, but rather to get to know each other and share! Judging of final games will be team-based and not forum-based.

The Time Frame
My goal is to allow as many people to take part as possible, so for that reason, the competition is staggered. If you can't participate for the first week, then no worries! You can organise your free time thanks to how this is designed...

So here's how it works. The competition will be held for 4 weeks, but your team will only have 2 weeks (14 days) to create a game and submit it. You can sign up any time from now until the 14th. To enter, simply discuss your team in this thread. From the 1st August onwards, the team leader or delegated team speaker must send me a PM and from the day they receive the info, they have 2 weeks to submit their work.
The information about the contest you receive will be A)specific rules B)theme. Do NOT share these with anyone outside your team.

Basic rules. More will be given via PM but this lays out the basics. (Sorry I didn't add this right away, I was tired! Special thanks to KITU from RM Détente.)
- Teams can be of any size, there are no restrictions. Pair up with your friends (or foes) and make something great together.
- You can use any software you like with a minor restriction that I will tell you via PM when the time comes.
- You can make any kind of game you like (ARPG, platformer...)
- You can use any resources you like/can find.

I'm confused, you're talking about a contest in July. "You can sign up any time from now until the 14th," but its already the 20th o.o

I always wanted to participate in these "make a game in X amount of time" contests but have too much going on with a large project, have to stick to it or it'll never get done. I suppose I could participate as a judge, but with being such a late notice you guys should set it for August as July will be over before we know it.

Just to clarify: are we meant to sort ourselves into teams, or do they get determined for us? And when you say "Info", does that mean you'll be telling us what kind of game we're meant to make?

I would like to take part in this, I haven't done a "Game in X time" in quite a while, but with how things are at the moment I'm afraid I won't be able to make it...
Maybe once I've sorted out all this mess, it sounds fun so far =)
