Well, with the RPG Makers now beingin steam, you have a whole bunch of people beeing introduced to something that they didn't know about. They are starting out, not having the knowledge or experience that came with building communities. Heck, if you think back a few years, this happened before, when -again- the whole thing was fairly new to a lot of people.
There's been a lot of crap projects out for sale ever since this was an option.
We have lost a lot of communities this year, which makes it harder for this flood of people to turn somewhere. Give it time.
Imagin this as a remake of a old game, if you will, with some of us knowing what awaits us while others stumble into this for the first time.
That said, there are still communities out there, small or big, which have not lost the joy in what they do. Things will change and shift some more, but I don't think that we are experiencing the downfall just yet.

I have no intent to let that happen here.

Personally I think we've experienced several downfalls and rejuvenations already. XD
Back in the good old days of RM2K3 things were at their peak. Then around the time Don Miguel and RPG Advocate left the game scene the first collapse happened. Then XP came out and interest rose again but it wasn't as high. And now with VX there's nearly the same interest as back in 2K3 days but it's a whole new generation and they have a completely different mindset.
I've been around this thing since the days when GamingW was the only fish in the sea. Damn I feel old.

*COUGH* You do realize I posted the old 2005 scripts from Phylomortis and some tutorials from Gaming world by Angroth, Brickroad and etc. I didn't want to see that stuff go buh-bye. And I don't plan on this going buh-bye either. Consider saving things under the premise of 'archival'... unless they specify it is their site only (gotta respect a request or rule).

Who needs community driven sites when you can just plug your credit card into steam or something similar?
See also: who needs personal websites, forum communities, and safe spaces where you have your rules, when you can just use Tumblr or Facebook and let the groupthink or big business tell you what you can say.
The internet has been taken away from those who grew up with learning to code or learning to administrate websites, and given to the idiot masses so everyone has a "chance". Unfortunately with this, "practice makes perfect" has been thrown out, and anyone can do anything and it's all so the big business can watch user numbers/profits tick up and feel good about making others think they deserve a place or to be promoted to a level next to who knows what.

That explains why rmvxace.net is gone. Wow that was a good site to find rpgmakervxace info. Though i wonder how many rpg maker sites have been shut down this year?

Luckily Save-Point isn't just RPG Maker, it's a genuine game development forum. :)
