the official banner is done so I thought the best way of celebrating about a year and a half worth of work is SHAMELESS PROMOTION! is to post it up in the forum site that helped us out the most and supported us to continue on with this commercial project!

we wouldn't be where we are now if it wasn't for Save Point!


Yesteryear is NOWHERE NEAR DONE! and it will probably take a year or two to finish it and get it on steam!

since SP has been the best for us production-wise and support-wise we decided to EXCLUSIVELY post up the free demo version of Yesteryear periodically with small storyline updates until the demo is fully compleated! (then once the games done you can continue the story on steam!)

also screenies we'll be updating this thread with screenies!

Heya everyone, got some sneak peeks of our current progress. So far we are still working on adding more dynamic content (and working out kinks of the current stuff), but here's a couple of screenshots or so to get y'all some idea of how our game project is looking so far. ^_^
Please also take into consideration that any and all contents, current and future, can and will be subject to changes until the final game is completed ^_~ We are currently using an animated bust system so the screenshots aren't exactly showing that off ^^; But we hope you like what you see and we encourage y'all to let us know what you think as we progress along.

Ok, a couple of new screenshots! This is showing the addition of Heretic's Dynamic Lighting System, still working kinks of course. Did some refinements to the scenes, especially to accommodate the light system's night and day bits. Also have an animated .gif to kind of show off the animated bust. So yea you can see the alley way updated and of course some animated bust samples :D

the 1st "BetaDemo" of many! Yesteryear is a ongoing project and while there are still a few bugs...were working diligently to correct these errors to give the best experience to the players!

Sayri Rinnia

A graduating student of 2011 and is very happy to be leaving the "asylum" as she calls it
she is an aspiring 3D animator and modeler...who should probably focus more on her studies and less on anime

Sayri is the original designer of Pod-Pod but could not create her due to technological limitations

her birthday is September 13 1993
she lives with her 33 pound cat Kidd and hates the stupidity of society


Kidd

fat loud and way to proud Kidd is a 33 pound foodaholic edgelord who will gladly tear your ankles to shreds if you don't replace the 120 kernels of food Kidd's eaten in the last 10 minutes

she is a cat weed junkie as well
It's amazing that Sayri puts up with her so much

although when Kidd is angry she can be heard yoweling out swears...if you can hear it through Sayri's laughter


Laboratory Arc (year 2613)

Kichi Rinnia

Kichi Rinnia is the decendent of Sayri Rinnia and inherited the family fortune and the family heirloom mahogany box that contained Pod-Pod's designs

as the head scientist/robotisist at her own laboratory she has (let her OCD and slight paranoia) built her own security systems and sentry units based off of her own design she deems them the "Sentry Wyverns" and has sucessfully created 4 variants of them

she is the creator of many droids but is most proud of Pod-Pod who took 3 years to complete
Kichi also built Buu-Bou Siltria, Zarix, Toxis and Veahka years prior

she is 20 years old

Buu-Bou

Buu-Bou was built from a toaster, Calculator, flashlight and an old Rotary phone by Kichi when she was only 8 years old
dubbed as "Sentry Wyvern #0" Buu-Bou holds a very special spot in Kichi's heart and is normally seen crawling around after Kichi or riding on her shoulder

Buu-Bou stays with Kichi for his own protection (not that he realizes that) as he's unable to protect himself

equipped with a flashlight and cute sounds this 13 inch long droid has been upgraded throughout the years
so that he now has a special sensor that detects a person based on their blood
with this he only listens to anyone from Kichi's bloodline ...he only listens to Kichi


Siltria

this lovable doofus was the first "free will AI" that Kichi ever built
freethinking and energetic Siltria acts and feels like a living being with a soul

unfourtunatly Kichi did to good of a job and Siltria has an I.D.S (Inteligence Dampening Chip) to help her feel better and stay happy Very happy + Tongue sticking out

Siltria loves to run around the Lab and play with her friends...when she's not at the "Great shipping wall" shipping them toghether

with 6 inch fur she loves to give out hugs! and doggy kisses that give you severe rugburn!
never question her....she'll give you a paradox answer that will leave you with a migrane


Zarix

sharp as a tack and fast to tell you so Zarix is the 2nd "free willed AI" that Kichi built
(it was also her first time trying to dye fur so don't mention his hair to him)

Zarix is the Historian and Researcher in the Laboratory and keeps everything tidy and incheck (at least in his Library)
while constantly having his muzzle in some book or another

He's a self proclamed "Lightning Mage" and fully believes that he can use magic (dispite it really being that he can create and conduct electric sparks and waves due to his design and programming)

will always try to correct you with scientific facts ...despite believing in magic

he's a nerd who secretly has a crush on Siltria

Toxis

somewhat elusive in nature Toxis is usually found right in the middle of it...or at least the botanical garden in the lab

the 3rd "free willed AI" made by Kichi

Toxis is the Biochemist and Botanist in the laboratory (he also part times as a nurse)
his hobbies include reviving and genetically splicing ancient plants to create new hybrids...this is on one hand is to further develop medicine and medicinal sciences...on the other hand its way to much fun for him to do (and it keeps down his Pyromanical tendancies)

the bones he wears were from a failed experiment Kichi did where she tried to create a living version of a ancient videogame character from the late 1900's
suprisingly the bones protect him from the metal eating Plants in his lab who have already scarred him with their acid


Veahka

tactiful and paranoid Veahka has never been seen without some type of weapon...athough on rare occassion she does wear a cat sized hoodie

Veahka is the 4th "free willed AI" made by Kichi

Veahka is incharge of of the Sentry Wyvern Training regiment and the Sniper of the Laboratory....theres NOTHING she can't hit
(but she prefers to aim between the legs)

Veahka's goals in life include: Training up the most elite housepet based assassins to protect and secure the laboratory home...and netting a date with Toxis (not that she'd ever admit that)

 
though she is the smallest of the 4 original "free willed AI" droids she has more then enough attitude to make up for it


Pod-Pod

3 years to build and 600 years of keeping a dream alive Pod-Pod is the most advanced AI of Kichi's creations
capable of the most genuine emotions

Pod-Pod tends to compare real life things to anime and videogames she's seen or played...this sometimes ends up making her seem a tad crazy...but she always has the best intentions

Pod-Pod is the first droid Kichi's created that tries to follow "the rules of robotics"

she is 70 inches tall...she's not telling her weight but is willing to tell you she's mostly steel with titanium in some parts

Yesteryear is a commercial game that is currently in development with a very small 3 person team
we are opening our doors for some extra helping hands in the development of this game
please consider the following before applying

everyone working on Yesteryear must be able to dedicate really good time to it and stay in near constant contact to the other team members especially the team leader (probably through skype and chat only for official reasons)


if your wanting to be a artist you have to be able to emulate a similar style to the asthetic of the game as to not clash to badly...this is a highly sought part of the team and is needed for parallaxing/background characters/fixing the asthetic in places/spritework/map layout and design


if your wanting to be a scripter you must be able to put up with overly creative people with little to no scripting knowledge who know exactly what they want and are more then willing to give visual examples and craptons of praise

if your wanting to be a eventer you must be able and willing to be a spellchecker...I'm sorry but the writer has terrible spelling...but they do try to tell the story...so spellchecking is a must! this is needed as to make the creation of Yesteryear go smoother and faster...and be less work on the other workers shoulders

if your wanting to be a writer...your sh*t outta luck because the story is already fully compiled...it just needs to be evented into the game

if your wanting to be a composer/musician then PLEASE send some of your original best tracks to Siletrea and Lunarberry ...this will help the process of choosing the best musical talent for the game to make Yesteryear sound as good as we need it to!
THIS IS A HIGHLY SOUGHT PART OF THE TEAM! we need epic music that makes people want to remix and enjoy even without playing the game to hear it


if your wanting to be a advertiser and get people interested in the game then you have to be able to explain the game without spoilers...this is a feat all its own so goodluck

you must also keep this in mind before applying to any position:

1: getting into the Yesteryear team is a big thing! as we don't want the storyline leaked

2: Yesteryear though it is a commercial game that will be hosted on steam has a budget of exactly $0.00...so anyone joining the Yesteryear team would be compleatly volenteering with no monetary pay whatsoever even upon compleation

3: all members of the Yesteryear team get a FREE copy of the game upon its release

4: all contributers to Yesteryear get into the credits...members of the team however will probably show up a few times in credits for different sections of the game

5: even if your good at 1 thing for the game if you have talent in other sections the team may need you to help pull some extra strings to keep development going

6: we are not slave drivers here! the Yesteryear team knows that its workers are human and have needs of their own! if you have a family emergency or are sick or are going on a family vacation then were ok with giving time off! healthy happy workers are best workers! but we do need hard workers! so if you apply please be willing to take the Mars Bar and do the extra 110% to make Yesteryear the best it can be!

7: the Yesteryear team is not a standard game development team with massively short deadlines and serious consequences...we like to set a few small deadlines but they're more to challenge ourselves to do our best! so don't feel to pressured for time

8: the Yesteryear team is almost constantly in contact and were pretty friendly people so plz be willing to be chatted with alot on development and such...we also love sharing screenies of progress...(the leader of the Yesteryear team loves progress screenies the most) we mostly use Skype for our conversations but we do NOT use videochatting or audiocalls ...everything is strictly chatbox

9: anyone applying for any part or joining the Yesteryear team MUST have:
      A: a working commercially approved legal copy of RPG Maker XP (steam has it on sale on occassion if that helps)
      B: have at least some good experience in RPG Maker XP (like making events and rooms and such...the ins and outs)
      C: an awesome work ethic and or mild OCD for making things great (we like it when people give it their all while having fun!)
      D: the capability of staying in almost constant semi-daily contact with an Autistic nerd over a chatbox
      E: an AWESOME PERSONALITY! (game making should be FUN!)

Hello everyone,
Just thought to keep this thread fresh by posting a few screenshots of some new updates implemented into the game currently. Mostly it's updates to the current scenes and title menu, making them more "alive and real" and less isolated, etc. Light and shadow plays a great role in creating atmosphere here and we are working to add/find music to complete it. Next demo update will allow for you to cross the roads (but not into areas you can't pass, of course) and move a tad more freely. Features are getting some bit of refinement and fixes, and aside from minor kinks we are still working on, it's coming along really well, considering the amount of folks working on this. We have been and are still concentrating on making the main features work properly before we concentrate on the rest of the content, once we are satisfied with the functions working as well as we can get it to, we can have a much faster workflow on getting the game making into gear. So for now here's more teasers for you :) Still in the process of refinement but a bit of eye candy is always good :P
