Celestial Tear: Demon's Revenge [RELEASE]
#11
I may consider doing some music but there's not enough here to impress me enough to commit.
Do you have a working demo?
You say you want this to be commercial, what are your goals? Why do you want this to be commercial? Do you think it is good enough to be commercial?
I checked out your brother's song. You say you want professional sounding music but, unless that was made from a very low quality mp3 file, it doesn't sound professional - the bass cuts in to heavily, the mix is quite flat...
The song itself is okay.

I write lots of musical styles, I'm currently doing the whole OST of a game. Here's one of the songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inBKVvkcgSY
It's a contemporary take on classical music with an oriental twist.

Sorry if this sounds pretentious - no wait - Sorry, this sounds pretentious. But I am very picky (and very tired) when it comes to agreeing to do things as when I give my word it is final. "You don't mess me around and I don't mess you around" kind of philosophy.

Another aspect I would outline - if we work together - is transparency. If you have a problem with the project then you tell me. If I have a problem and can't continue, I will tell you. It's like being in a relationship really (and those often suck. I'm glad yours is working out)

You probably won't want to work with me after this anyway since I'm being so openly rude. Being a musician doesn't excuse that, I know.

Any way, sorry for writing so much. Hopefully we will talk in the future.

I compressed the song for the video. To be honest, I didn't really like your stuff or I would have asked you personally. It's not that I didn't like it...Well, yeah it is because I just didn't like it. It doesn't sound professional to me especially the song in that youtube video. Everything is clashing. Notes don't sound like they are in harmony and.... well... I just don't like that midi sound it has to it. I also happen to like heavy bass, so that is just a preference I guess.
So, don't worry about it.

Anyway, I found someone who is professional, cool, and GOOD. So, I guess we can let this topic die again :)
Or put it back in the repair bin.

Well you're wrong about everything. Notes don't clash. They are in harmony. It doesn't sound like midi (to the extent that I've been asked on several occasions whether they are real instruments).

But yeah, ok.

P.S. Midi is a language, not a sound. But by midi I'm guessing you meant windows midi instruments.

Midi is not a language. It is a protocol

I would suggest using [quote] when you are quoting something another member said :)

Yin, the music your brother made was very nice, why not use it?

He says he's lost his passion for music... :( I would have loved to, but if it's something he now hates to do, or finds it to be a chore, I'd rather him pursue something that would make him happy instead of making something half assed just to get a job done for me.

Anyway, I've found Ryan who is really good, he really knows his stuff. I can only hope everything goes as planned with him.

(12-12-2010, 04:12 PM)Kristovski Wrote: Midi is not a language. It is a protocol

"[MIDI] is an industry-standard protocol that enables electronic musical instruments (synthesizers, drum machines), computers and other electronic equipment (MIDI controllers, sound cards, samplers) to communicate and synchronize with each other."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_Ins..._Interface

So basically it is a language since:
"Language may refer either to the specifically human capacity for acquiring and using complex systems of communication, or to a specific instance of such a system of complex communication."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language

Language is just a protocol of communication understood by the emitter and the receiver.
