 What's up, RMers?
Are you using a USB/SATA drive manager called 'Zentimo'? It appears to be a protection error message... from a google search I just ran.

Nope.

You know, perhaps it has something to do with that bugged Windows update I got some time ago. Basically, now my computer tells me my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine. From what I could gather, it's a fairly common bug regarding the security updates of the OS.

Curiously enough, I still can change my desktop wallpaper despite the error supposedly preventing the users from doing so.

Since I've been extremely lazy lately, I've decided I should start a videogame of my own. It's preliminarily entitled Aluxes Goes South, starring Basil as the poor assistant that one days goes out to have lunch and when he returns, the leader of the Resistance Movement, namely Aluxes, has disappeared mysteriously. At first his old friend thinks he just playing a prank on him or he was just too nervous that suddenly freaked out and went hiding like small kids usually do. Knowing him that well, he bets that he'll find him in a forgotten cave that isn't large enough to hide any dangerous monster. When he first arrives there, Basil notices everything has changed, the cave is now a true maze! Shocked He then enlists a couple of rebels and enters the cave only to notice that the only known exit has vanished in thin air... Confused

Will Basil find his old friend? Or will he make up his mind and forget about him and look for a way out of that terrible maze? O_o? You better tell me! Really! O_O

You need to make a sort of prophetic riddle (or disaster as it were). The means to escape the labyrinth and the subject of the quest are both one and the same.

Grrrrrowwwlll.....

Having some issues getting the whole 'Stance Pose' system to work PROPERLY with the companions in the Lycan ABS. Companions are additional heroes that travel with you and fight along side you while under the computer's control. The code for companions had to be a mix of the Player code, the Enemy code and the Game Actor class, so it's semi-confusing mish-mash that worked. A disastrous triumph as it were. But confusing right now.

So to clear my head, I've been piddling around with another system... one I felt like making ever since I made a shout in the Common Sense Corner just over a week ago. A middle-stage demo has been tested by one of the demo's own stars.... she liked the ending. But the system needs more, so I'm looking into another option that could be considered more... modern.

Nah, the subject or goal isn't one of the same at all, unless you ignore the implications of following Aluxes to wherever he went hiding or for breathing fresh or moistened air. Laughing + Tongue sticking out With Aluxes in your team or as a potential victim to be rescued, the end becomes highly unpredictable by definition! Shocked Anyway, I wrote it on April 1st so... I have found these interesting pieces of code that work on Ruby 2.6 but not before.

WARNING!
These will not help any scripting impaired person at all! Laughing

Code:
case n
when 1..9 then 'Single digit'
when 10..99 then 'Two digit'
when 100.. then 'Three or more'
end

You already know the case statement, but you sure ignored the new feature found in Ruby 2.6, the endless range! You no longer need to worry about the range's last value.

Code:
isbn = '978-1-93778-549-9'
isbn.gsub('-', '')
 .then { |isbn| URI("#{API_URL}?q=isbn:#{isbn}") }
 .then { |uri| Net:HTTP.get(uri) }
 .then { |json_response| JSON.parse(json_response) }
 .then { |response| response.dig('items', 'volumeInfo') }

There the then method works like the yield_self one and lets you chain them to the gsub or global substitution method in a readable way.

Code:
(1..3).chain((5..7), [9, 10]).to_a
#=> [1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10]

list = (1..3).each + (5..7) + (9..10)
list.to_a
#=> [1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10]

In this case chain allows people to sum up all of the ranges and easily turn them in to a single array if you wish.

Code:
foo = { a: 1 }
bar = { b: 2 }
baz = { c: 3 }
foo.merge(bar, baz) #=> { a: 1, b: 2, c: 3 }
# In Ruby 2.5
# foo.merge(bar).merge(baz)

Now you can merge multiple Hashes! Shocked

Code:
a = [1, 1, 2, 3]
b = [3, 4]
a.union(b) #=> [1, 2, 3, 4]
a.difference(b) #=> [1, 1, 2]

They work like the | and & binary operators respectively but accept multiple arguments.

Code:
Array.method_defined?(:to_h, false)

Now you will know whether or not that method was defined right in Array class, if the second argument is non existing or it's true, it will tell you it belongs to Array even if it was defined in Enumerable. Of course, this will work in any other Ruby class as well.

Code:
{a: 1, b: 2, c: 3}.to_h { |k, v| [k.to_s, -v] }
#=> {'a' => -1, 'b' => -2, 'c' => -3}

This to_h method will allow you to stop using the Array#map{ block }.to_h call following the DRY principle or Don't Repeat Yourself!

Constant names may start with a non-ASCII capital letter so in Ruby 2.6 you can define one like ÑU = 255 (where Ñ should be pronounced like the Italian gn sound).

Me, opening an old RPG Maker project again to do some work on it again: Okay, I know I had a system in place with how I named the scripts with these symbols... dang, I wish I remembered what which thing meant now...
*clicks on the first info thingy that's set up*
*Info thingy explains in detail what each symbol means and points to specific lines in the code where needed*
Me: =D Thank you, past self!

Entertaining?

Looks promising. It could easily be a minigame where you must crack the code of a safe box or a vault.
