I'm reading the RPG Maker web forums and so far the impressions make it look like Unite is an unmitigated disaster designed from the ground to fleece users for every little thing.
Like, imagine a RM where you had to buy parts of the RTP separately.

I'm surprised more people didn't see this coming. This video I did on the topic years ago stands truer than ever now. They really just went ahead and doubled, tripled and quadrupled down to prove my point.
I've no doubt a lot of you were skeptical of Unite who had some experience with it already. But even I was surprised at the sheer level of greed bundled with that installment.
This has been quite a fun year for me. The old guard of rpgmaker, the big names like Touchfuzzy, Celianna and so on. They're basically unemployed now, as Gotcha Gotcha Games has taken over on licensing, leaving the greedy dipshits who accommodated for this behavior betrayed and besmurched. How perfectly fitting a crime for their conniving.
I have everything I want, MV is basically the engine I'll stick to for RPGs, and I have another for my more ballistic future projects. Perhaps it is my complacency that lets me enjoy the fall of this obnoxious farm house, but it's not like me and their accord with Degica and later Kadokowa was ever something I approved of. Though Kadokawa was a lot less terrible and accommodated for some of the best RTP and bonuses we've had since XP. more than i can say for the clown car fiasco that Gotcha Gotcha Games has been.
I'll still credit Celianna when I use her tiles in my games, because I'm not foolish enough to prove a point they never had but clung to for ten years anyway to keep me out of a community I never was very interested in from the get go.
Here's to an end of this RM political bullshit. Though it probably will never end because these fucks love to gossip.
But if this spells the end of rpgmaker engines, good riddance?? They've held the monopoly for long enough as is. This just means we have an opportunity to steal the show with Regal, am I right Kain and all the ladies and gents working on that?
This presents us with a golden opportunity to do right by the rpgmaker community that has been done wrong by for so many years.
I may have called this whole Unite thing being a flop, and just a further snowballing of the worst behaviours of the people behind it, but honestly, anyone who didn't see this coming and paid for that load of garbage, I am deeply sorry you were so easy to con. I hope they give you a full refund, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Now Bakin, Regal, WolfRPG and so on can have a chance to rise from the ashes. I'm looking forward to what comes of this paradigm shift.
That Sigmasuccour guy seems to be a real piece of garbage.
Also, I read about the Gotcha Gotcha Games thing. It's apparently the reason as to why RPGMakerweb.com doesn't officially support Unity, too much to the bafflement of some users there.
So they come up with Unite, which is just an excuse to make people use Unity, and refuse to support its own product!?
After what has happened to older versions of the Maker, I can't say I'm surprised that they always take the wrong turn by default. Even MZ was a mess because of the lack of quality and consistency the graphical resources had. I hope they've solved that issue by now for the benefit of the MZ lovers, anyway.
Didn't I publish a couple of news where Middle Eastern nations executed alleged criminals last week?
So i dunno why any of you are surprised by what you found out on Discord or Twitter or any other social media. There's always been people that love their swords or scimitars. And they keep them sharp. Should we ban all swords and scimitars and firearms? Nah, the real criminals would already know how to get more in the black market. That doesn't mean that violence is justify every single time, especially if it's not in self defense.
Anyways, my warning here is that none of you have seen the bigger picture. It's not about a specific group but it's all about ANYBODY not belonging to that guy's group.

Drafting the various Chicken / Rooster type enemies!
EDIT: Added different variants. At some point I changed the wings; I'll keep (re: improve) the original wing too, but I need to readjust it in the first two pictures because it's not correctly placed. Battler is fully animated, 16 actions. I have more versions planned; different and longer tails, thicker legs, maybe replace some combs and wattles. The spellcasting animation is gorgeous, but you'll have to play the game in the future to see it :D
The "Chicken" curse can be placed on friends and foe alike, and of course each entity will transform into one of many particular chicken breeds, most of which are docile and harmless. While the spell is usually good about nerfing a tough and susceptible enemy during battle, some foes will mutate into one of the legendary roosters (pictured above) and that can be an even deadlier fight.
It's too bad people aren't happy with the new RPG Maker. The configurations look like they haven't changed much since VX Ace, almost like they haven't known what else to do beyond that era. The presentation doesn't quite flow as well as the classical UI, and I'm not sure why they think you need to see the "scene" all the time while editing the database.
Are there any advantages to using RPG Maker Unite? Can you publish Nintendo games with it or something?
EDIT: I just read that post. Somebody made a game about killing a transgender in a high school? That's pretty tasteless and sadly doesn't even surprise me in the least.

Kainers? I'm wondering of those ovegrown buzzards of yours are POIFECT as Half-Kaizer-sized enemies. :D
I gots a lots o' work going on Half Kaiser Battlers....
The battler templates come in various forms which must be worked upon:
2 Genders - Male/Female
2 Handedness - Right-Handed/Left-Handed
3 BodyTyoes - Basic/Faceless/Headless
3 SkinTypes - Dark/Medium/Light
It takes time, and right now I have most body forms have been worked upon while using the medium skin tone as a base. Still, I must now work upon headless female body-styles.
MOST of the right-handed female headless actions are already done as there is already an available template. However, changes in the new female templates alter the rifle and archery poses. And of the left-handed female template, there are some constants that do not change. Most of the running poses, the death poses and some damage poses are shared between left-handed and right-handed templates. So I do not need to rework all of them as well.
But when working on these, I have to ensure the same base 16 palettte for the templates.
Oh, joy.
While this brings up an apparently 'touchy' subject from earlier this week, I would be remiss if I didn't say anything. Know that I intend to not mention names (except one for contextual purposes). Just know that it was from this week and I do wish this to be the last of it.
The Last of It - No Replies please
After Remi-chan's post disfavorably mentioning someone within the RPGMaker community, one whom garnered adverse attention in our forum based upon content and links she provided, I received complaints within our PM system. The complaints stated that she was involved in "deep injustice without knowing it," suggesting the "she's brainwashed/fed lies about" the apparent 'victim', and posted harmful content elsewhere.
Yes, I did quote from the PMs, and refer to the other individual as the 'victim' or apparent 'victim' throughout this post.
The apparent 'victim' was known for being helpful with tutorials and gave assistance in the RPGMaker community. That much I can confirm. However, while I asked for proof and content of claims made against Remi-chan in response to the complaints, I have not received anything since this past Tuesday (March 30th). This silence may have been a result of my candidness as I replied how I contacted others also privy to the incidents mentioned by Remi-chan. That some were those I've known a number of them in the old RMXP.Org days, and confirmed her stance appeared to infuriate them.
I cannot just take a complaint, and pass any judgement without hearing from others. To take an argument based upon just one side's story is not just. But when that one side cannot offer any proof or examples of infractions, I have a problem.
As I had received no further push-back against Remi-chan and some disturbing content about the apparent 'victim', I continued checking the veracity of complaints against the 'victim'. Screenshots provided by an administrator within another forum and the assumed 'victim's snubbing off comments were one thing. That the screenshots included the assumed victim's statement agreeing with his religion condoned a given group be 'punishable by death', was another.
Despite citing it being part of his religious doctrine, said dialogue would never be tolerated within our forum as it would clearly violate our rules on hate speech. Note that I will not tolerate this as an excuse to attack religion either.
The apparent 'victim' has been under this shadow for some time and could have faded away. But it was his own actions that returned attention back to him. Just over a week ago, he created a so-called game where he (in a self-insert) walked through out a train to confront his critics (masked in white-noise TV static) before actually killing them. There is a review of the game that was less than flattering, even suggesting the assumed victim was disturbed.
I watched a play-through of the game, posted on Youtube and supplied by the apparent 'victim' himself. It was the biggest 45-minute waste of my life, confirming what the game critic who reviewed it had stated.
In essence, the apparent victim, basically shot himself in the foot and gave his critics more fodder.
This may appear to be something more fitting to be in the 'What's on your Mind' thread or another thread within the General Discussion board. But the subject matter was brought up within this thread merely days ago. And again, that will be the end of it.
Further commentary regarding the subject will be removed.

Working on new enemy!
In the spoiler below, you can see one hero fighter VS various new baddies. Most of these were made in the last two weeks and each are fully animated. I've also included the Red Dragon, which was made eons ago; she'll be getting a proper texture job and wings probably later this week.
Content Hidden
I got 20 more to go, but I'm getting pretty fast at this so no big deal now! The wraith is a WIP, the rest of them are done. The Rooster beast has 17 variations already done (see "Chicken" spell), the strange Lion-like beast has a male counterpart with a mane and thicker body (done), the Caterpillar enemy turns into some type of moth (to-do). Also, the Dog (based on my dog :x) has an orange Hellhound recolor, but I will probably do something more with that sprite.
Note that when I go back to revisit Project Beast, I'll be replacing the old enemies with these new ones. Everything fluidly animated and ready for action!

While working on the Half Kaiser battler's LEFT-HANDED poses, I would be completely remiss if I didn't work at upgrading the Layered Spritesheet tool:
The top right corner used to house buttons only for the two gender options. But now they house both gender and hand-orientation options. Completely togglable, they can choose if you have graphics within the Male\Right, Male\Left, Female\Right and Female\Left subfolders of any main graphic folder. The caveat is that you cannot store in a Male, Right, Left or Female folder alone. It detects if the graphics are defined by both options, or not at all.
Cest la vie.
Now, MOST of the running poses didn't need touching all things considered. But notice the middle 'archery' pose. The original male-defined archery spritesheet that it was based upon used this perspective which was technically all wrong if you were right handed. But they used it for a right-handed default sprite. NOW corrected, the archery and rifle poses as they exist are within (or will be within) the left-handed sets.
And yes, toning the body templates has begun.
EDIT: My statement where you could not use either Male/Female or Left/Right folders alone... is DEAD. If a component folder (let's say... Body) has only Left and Right subfolders for all the resources, it will work just fine. And if a component folder contains only Male and Female subfolders for all the resources, that works too!
Now for dual subfolders, the format is Gender/Hands. So you can have Male/Left, or Female/Right as examples. But not the other way around. Left/Female does not work.
And seeing the clock... Time to hit the sack!!!!!
